Ive had a One x for about 6 months now, got it on a short contract post several iPhones.

Hardware is OK volume buttons too discrete when you want to press them but too easy to press when you don’t. Screen is very good, get mx player and load up some movies, presently have series one and two of boardwalk empire, a few westerns and the godfather trilogy all play really well.

Problem is though the software for the day to day stuff, because you end up choosing the best notes software and browser etc its all separate and doesn’t since together as well as IOS.

Summary- Nice screen but I would rather have iPhone software.

Yesterday I was rounded on by two massive pitbull types, no idea what breed they were but they were clearly aggresive and clearly capable of hurting me a 16st bloke.

Having survived the encounter my thoughts were I need to arm myself, some kind of knife perhaps.

Thats from a middle age bloke living in a sleepy bit of Suffolk, so not suprising young kids in cities were these animals are common place also decide to take precations.

Seems like an easy situation to rectify.

Been testing chain lube for 30+ years, this is the best I’ve found , apply whilst holding a cloth behind the chain and rub off excess. Clean periodically with wd40 then reapply. Works for MTB and Road,

Did the Caledonian Challenge mention earlier, same distance probably a bit hillier. It took me all of the 24 hours but some weirdos did it in 11 hours running.

I used those Scandinavian walking sticks, great for the down hill bits which were actually more painful than uphill.
Zinc tape on my feet, but don’t forget to soak it before you take it off!!
Try swapping between walking boots and trainers, if the terrain is ok trainers are the way to go.
I smoked at the time and did about 40 during the event, thats probably not good.
Do some core exercises planks good, I have since been told my lack of core strength caused the knee pain that nearly stopped me.
Take ibrufen.
Go light whenever possible.

I ran a 15, 17,and 19 on the back with a 32 on the front for a while, there was enough movement in a slot dropout to take up each size.

Didnt really work out though, 19 too spinny for anything and I couldnt really get up anything in the 17 I could in the 15.

Find a gear she can ride 90% of the time and just relax when its too spinny.

I have one on the back, I like to call it “Kato” after the pinkpanther character.
It also seems to intent on killing me when I least expect it.

I have emailed the details through to the chap who was actually struck by the car and the police response that he report the incident in person at a station.

My worry he is pretty relaxed about the thing, lives in a rural area meaning getting to the station tommorow probably means a drive, still offered service as a witness and I know the others will do the same.
