Your straw clutching at very obscure versions mate.

    I’m done.. G’night.

Theres a good article on the Sheldon Brown website for anyone who want to get the full picture.

Its only different on some sram all others are the same. We weren’t talking sram, though we were talking campagnolo and shimano which are all the same.

Your right about the free hub body though best I can find is £40 which still makes it worth a go.

    Cheers.

Its not really a bodge just ignoring the marketing guff.

I run Mavic wheels, you can swap the free hub body for £20. Derailliers are not specific to type they just move across however much the shifter tells them. I would need the free hub mentioned and a cassette and chain which get changed every 12 months or so anyway.

So its + £20 over Shimano but thats accounted for by getting use out of my existing stuff.

Worth it to see how it works out and to have something different.

I think mechs are all the same regardless of brand as are teeth on the cranks and cassete across 8,9 and 10 speed. only difference should be cassette spacing which just happens to be the same on Shimano 8 and Campag 10.

Google Shimergo for a better explanation that I can do on my phone.

Been looking to upgrade my Sora shifters to 105 or Ultegra, discounted Tiagra early doors due to the indicator bobbins in the lever which looks a bit naff imo and the wire out the side which is actually the main reason I want to change the otherwise excellent Soras. After a couple of unsuccseful eBay bids I have given up on getting some Shimanos at a decent price and going to give Campagnolo a go, these have the advantage that a 10 speed shifter will work with my 8 speed cassette which is pretty new so I would rather not change it yet.

That’ll improve them, next steps possibly snip the last cm of each end of the outer (if theres spare) thats usually the bit that causes friction. Next you can by really good gear cable sets from Halfords for a tenner. lastly go single speed no cable worries ever again!

    Great replies everyone 🙂

I have just read through the options with Ruby, she loved the idea of the Victoria and Albert until I said she couldn’t buy the clothes. Her favourites at the moment are .. Camden Market, Feeding the Ducks, a River Tour, Tower of London(crown jewels) , Kew Gardens and the museums.

I ve booked a river tour and tickets for the tower but one may have to make way for the market as shopping seems to be hardwired !!

Whatever we do thanks again for the suggestions we have gone from no idea, to too many ideas.

    Ta x

Felt sure those steps were doable but a fixie trike and the wrong tyres were my undoing.

Had it a few weeks no problem so far including a recent update. My problem is the opposite I don’t find the playlist feature very intuitive and have struggled to search for interesting lists.

Intresting responses from the bike shop bods, which don’t really improve on the image painted by the op.

I would have to say repeated similar experiences and bike maintanace being simpler than breathing means I generally look after my own bikes and buy stuff off the net.

Stay in Donny quite a bit with work, the town is not the greatest for anything but I really like the premier inn mentioned above, (fishergate)it’s clean, well managed as most importantly the staff are friendly.

Don’t know about any riding its get in ,get out for me.

Recently quoted £1700 for wworcester Bosch 28?? Something boiler fitted in a slightly different location, bigger supply pipe, magnetic filter, system flush and the old gubbins water tanks etc removed.

Imagine that’s 50\50 parts and labour so your price sounds a little on the high side, get another quote.

Looks like an opportunity for one of the machinist chaps.

Im in if someone can make some bottom bracket shells to the follow spec.

    Take readily available bearings.

    No Top hats required.

Bearings can be pressed in/out easily.

Have I missed anything, add to the spec if needed.

I was really pleased with mine, the course feature is very motivational (not letting that fat ******* beat me) but when used tonight for a run and it seemed quite inaccurate compared to my phone.

May have been a one off or running with it in my hand, certainly for the bike its great.

Couldn’t agree more and it’s nice to think we have someone in the know delivering the message. I still can’t see what the solution is though?
Driver awareness maybe, not sure that would get more people felling safe and seeing cycling as an option.

I recently bought a sonos play 5 and really like it. The bridge is IMO a must if you want to get the most out of the system.

My system works from a iMac which is always on albeit sometimes in sleep mode, it just looks after itself never gets turned of anyway.

The play 5 could work without the bridge just connect it by ethernet cable to your router, it would then create a sonos wireless area to which other devices could connect. However using this method means the unit is stuck near the router.

A bridge creates the sonos network allowing you to place your speaker(play 5 or 3 ) anywhere within range, which will be anywhere in any reasonable sized house.

You then put an app on your phones or tablets and a dashboard on your pc / mac which you can use to control the media.

Although I have a couple of hundred albums in iTunes since getting the sonos I have mostly used it to listen to Spotify and the radio which can be selected through through the App.

Bottom line is it works effortlessly, Mrs W downloaded the app and was surfing spotify within minutes.

Only downside is I now must have more speakers!!

Another advocate of 25 mm tyres here, presently the Duranos mentioned earlier which are bomb proof but a little heavy to the point it dulls the bike. I,’ll change them when/if the weather ever improves something lighter but still 25mm.

Most important tip from me would be to keep your road position good, don’t get pushed into the side by traffic. Check out the NCN for some routes either circular or one way with trains back.
Try riding with others in group which really can up your speed when collaborative.
I have had wheels wash out on both types of bikes and don’t really see so much difference in bike handling from road to mtb maybe some minor stuff but pretty intuitive.

Flat to up in the south.
    Up to up in London.

Although it’s all overpriced still imo. 🙂
