The maz 55 rc3 ti if you have the money. For something cheaper, the x fusion vengeance feels really close to a marzocchi and is about £550 new. I would choose the x fusion over any coil rock shox I have ridden.
Edit at 14 stone, you would probably need to replace the spring on the vengeance.

There’s a reason why wearing a helmet becomes a ‘habit’ when climbing – it’s because it’s always a good idea to wear one.

To be fair, wearing a helmet is only a “habit” for mountaineers and begnners, most decent climbers don’t bother with one.

Typical daily Mail, made up indignation and someone looking for her 15 mins of fame.

There is pretty much zero risk to the kid, but there seems no point taking a kid that young with her as it will not appreciate what’s happening.

Something like this will be fine for indoor and sport climbing. Anything more complicated is a waste of time and money.

The beauty of the tailgator is you can use it to haul junior up the climbs and take it off to let them go down on their own.

Have to say, we never had any problems with the leaning thing.

Dehydrated foods for backpackers, would they work?
    Stuff like beanfeast?
Instant mash, cold meat and instant gravy (loads of variations on this theme)

Something like this might be a good investment, sure there are cheaper ones.

Ideally a road trip, alpi bike resorts/montgenevre/Orcieres (assured weather), deux alpes/alp-huez, tigne (free lifts), portes de soleil. 1 week each.

Follow Me is pretty short, not great VFM. 3 minute gaps is cheap and really good.

The lifts are pretty expensive though, 31 euros a day.

There is a lowered x6 which I often see being driven around Bradford. I often wonder about the point of that.

I have exactly the same. I thought I had rebroken my collarbone but the physio said no and reckons it is just soft tissue damage. I doubt you will get any milage from seeing a surgeon yet. It might be a damaged bursa but it dosnt sound like anything major. I was told to treat it with hot and cold to try and get the inflammation down and to take anti inflamatories and if the problem persists then think about asking for a cortisone.

You will probably find that you can ride ok on it even though the lateral movements and sleeping on it hurt. It’s just one of those evil injuries that take ages to heal unfortunately.

It was better for the landlord to have an empty premises with a notional rentable value of, say £3000pm, than an occupied premises bringing in £2000pm.

    Can someone explain this?

I personally would rather have £24K a year coming in than spend £10K maintaining an empty property.

although the high street really could rebuild if the rents issue is sorted (not easy I know but if there is a will, a way can be found) but the result would be different,

I think that rent is often used as an excuse by retailers who are in fact closing down for other reasons. Its easier to say “its the landlords fault” than “we didn’t have enough customers”

It is very expensive to have an empty building, rates have to be paid and insurance triples, so it is in a landlords interest to see it occupied.

Rents, incentives and conditions are much more in favour of the retailer now than in the 80’s. Only problem is that bricks and mortar shops seem to be becoming obsolete.

A few years ago in France I was at my ex’s for Christmas. After lunch we were taken by her dad to see some relatives. Just outside the village we were stopped by the Gendarmes.

Cop “Afternoon sir, have you been drinking?”
    Dad “Yes but with moderation”
Cop “Are you sure it was with moderation?”
    Dad “Of course”
Cop “Very well then, have a nice day”

    Classic French encounter!

It was interesting but made no difference to me in terms of career. I would say the school ranking matters if you go for a really good one otherwise, probably not. Part time will be hard work, you will not have much spare time after job and studies.

I dont think the supreme is a good idea. It will be too small in no time.

The kona bass on the CRC site might be worth a look. Not a downhill bike, but it would be a fun bike for a young lad.

FS every time, especially if it was going to be used abroad. Bike park braking bumps suck on a hardtail.

Yt industries first play looks good if a bit more than 800. There is a stinky 24 frame on crc.

However, unless the lad is small. He will grow out of a 24 in bike pretty quick . A second hand small is probably the way to go, check pinkbike.

Does this come off the moor and head down into the little valley with the river?

I looked at something down there in the autumn and it looked pretty abandoned, with logs and branches across it. If its the same one they probably thought it was fair game and it will be a work in progress. No one is going to be stupid enough to leave big holes on the entry to a berm. There seems to be loads of kids on big bikes around Harden/St Ives nowadays, if they are encouraged they might build us a bike park 🙂

My claim took two years to get to the point where court action was threatened. It is usually only a threat though and very few cases go all the way to court. Usually the insurance company gets the summons and pays up (so I was told).

5 months is also quite usual for the medical examination, as the solicitors will want to wait till all symptoms have become apparent. The examination is in essence you telling someone all the symptoms you had, the time it took for them to go away etc. The dr basically sits there and takes notes and then makes a report for both sides (and the court if it go that far). As its a long time ago, you can probably labour the pain and trauma stuff as no one can prove otherwise and the examiner will just put it in his report.

All elements of my claim were bundled together in the same settlement BUT stuff like the damaged bike was paid out early in the process as it was tangible. You should have had some money for the bike by now I would have thought. Edit. just realised that no responsibility has been accepted so this is probably why no payments have been made yet.

You can book Molfre for £300, which works out pretty reasonable if you go with a load of mates. The track is fun and not that hard.

You could shuttle the descent line at stainburn, I’ve seen people doing this.

Places I thought to be as good or better than Les Arc this summer were:
Alps: Beaufortain, Ubaye valley, Orciere, Montgenevre/Alpi bike resorts, Deux alpes/alp d’huez. Tignes was also good, more downhill orientated BUT free lifts 😀 .
    Pyranees: Cardagne/Capacir, Andorra
Vosges: the riding around st marie les mines is awesome, no lifts though 😥
