I use the floor, works really well and super convenient.

Not done it but it seems from French write ups that a lightish 140ish fs is the sort of thing to use. It has tech downhill sections and a lot of carrying on the big climbs. It sounds pretty brutal. That said, apparently there is an electric bike class this year 8O

    Otherwise, custom suit FTW

Like this?? Not sure really, it would clash with my grey hair.

Now go and buy some folk music and admit you’re doomed…

Well it would certainly be better than the crap you left in the CD player

    It’s called a “Freda”

    What do you reckon

You have a point there :-) Maybe I should have gone for a PANDA, like Khani

You worry about what your clothes look like and you drive a Bongo?…

What??? Now you tell me Bongos aren’t cool either, I wish you had told me that when you sold it to me :(

Does the fact that its a Freda, and therefore a niche bongo, add any cool points at all :?:

I am 33 and a skateboarder.. Tight Jeans, skate shoes, T shirt. trucker cap, Tattoos…. I’m doomed.

You are definitely a bad example, you should be wearing a helmet, it’s the law  May I suggest a met parachute as a stylish choice.

I think when you get to a certain age you have to accept that in your face designer labels are a no-no. Way too many people seem to miss that one.

Damn, it’s worse than I thought. Should I chuck out all my zoo York t shirts :?

Even my Lego loving son thought it was crap, and that was with smallish queues. If you go, expect to be gouged at every opportunity.

Go for a full suss if possible, it will be faster and more fun for your lad. My son rode one day of downhill on his hardtail last summer, he hated it as it was much slower and less comfortable than his full suss. That stinky is a decent price and a good starting point.

La Val rouge is crap, don’t bother with that lift at all. Rhodadendrum is great, 10k downhill with loads of variety. The enduros are mainly good but rockyline is a bit rubbish. For the time you are intending to stay there, Tignes is ideal. The campsite less so if you don’t have a car, there may be another up in the village though. The free pass also gets you entry to the pool and health spa if you fancy it.

Last year, some of the runs were closed due to late snow postponed work on the pistes, I still rode for 4/5 days without being bored. Also, queues are way smaller than the pds so you can ride a lot. For a short lowish budget trip, it’s ideal :-)

I reckon a shuttle from geneva would be pretty expensive, maybe better to fly to albertville if possible. Alternatively hire a car in geneva.

I think it’s important to foster good habits – don’t climb / ride without a helmet

Do you make your lads wear helmets to go bouldering/sport climbing/on walls? They must be really happy about that :(

Mm yeah but there usually aren’t any other tree-users over which you don’t have control.

You could get attacked by an evil squirrel, you never know! gotta be prepared.

Last week threr was all that fuss about kids climbing trees, how they should be allowed and how it was a symptom of the nanny state that they were not. Do you make your kids wear helmets and harnesses every time they climb trees, they might fall out and land on their head.

The answer is probably not if they are only 5 or 6 ft up (like riding on the footpath to school) but yes if they are 20ft up (like riding something where you might crash and hurt yourself). Its this weird double standard that gets me.

My kids dress like that for eating their breakfast

But what do you do to protect against the possibility of them burning their lips on hot toast?

I’m just waiting till I can buy one of these in a size small, then I will be able to get a good nights sleep again. Safe in the knowledge that my little precious is totally prepared for any eventuality :-)

Yeah but there can always be things you haven’t forseen.

If we always wanted to be prepared for every eventuality then why stop at helmets? Should I not dress my son up like this for every trip to the pump track or session in the woods? “just in case”

Sainte Foy frinstance. There’s a resort uplift bus

Possibly the most unorganised uplift I have ever used  and the riding was OK but not amazing.

Wonderboisse into Forest Bump is a good run and there is a shuttle bus back up to Tignes if you time it right.

This fixation with helmets is a bit ott IMO.

When I go to the bmx track or Jump spots, none of the kids wear helmets yet I am not stepping over piles of dead bodies. Riding on the pavement is not dangerous or difficult, the chances of falling are minimal.

If I go somewhere with my son that where the chances of falling are higher we will wear helmets, otherwise we wont bother as I have confidence in his ability not to fall over :|

It’s good, the trails now go over towards Val d’isere so the net work is quite big. The majority of stuff is off the gondola but there are some nice blues on the other lift. It’s free as well so that’s a bonus. Some nice enduro stuff as well. I like it and preferred it to lower down the valley.

There is a really nice camp site near tigne le lac (it’s the camping municipal) cheap as well. I can’t remember the name but can dig out details if needed.

It’s before the millenium way track, maybe 500m towards cottingley and about 300m from the end of the deforested bit. I don’t think we are talking about the same track but you must have seen it, it’s a really obvious trail at the start.

I’ve noticed that most of the people who don’t believe in “eat less, move more” are fat bastards.
Basic premise -“That may work in practice, but it doesn’t fit my theory, therefore it cannot be true, bring me another doughnut.”

You can always walk back up the way you came, surely ?

The push up is a nightmare, thats why I am asking :?

    ianv

I should have said, just before (2/300m) the scout camp fence

The trail (pretty obvious) cuts off the main track then splits again, one bit going along the top of the bank and the other straight down.

Surely, as the stem is clamped around it, it will be ok. Especially if you were to remove the spacers and clamp the stem almost below the crack. ??

This happened on my stinky. Eventually I tried to drill out the bolt as I was resigned to it being a write off. Drilling into the stuck end of the bolt must have loosened it and actually unscrewed it as it fell out after a few minutes and before any damage to the frame. It’s worth a try.

The route is about 200m of pavement, couple of kilometres of footpath/paths across common land.

I wouldnt dream of wearing a helmet for that and therefore would not force my lad to either.

    or even?

Pikes are Ok on a chameleon but to be honest, I never wind them out at all anymore. They also dont feel as nice as marzocchis.

Probably the scott, but neither seem ideal.

Do you have a decathlon near you or even online decathlon. The subsim is pretty cheap and looks more suited.

If the deposit was non refundable and big enough, I would probably consider it. What is there to lose, and if she pulls out you get some extra cash. I am sure you could do a deal with the bank on the property you want to buy.
