Israel is (as they keep reminding us) a democracy, so they can’t claim that they are fighting against the wishes of the population.
It’s quite possible that the people who are against violence aren’t voting for them. It’s also possible that people are voting for the government, not because they are warmongers, but that despite them being warmongers they are more credible than the opposition. Pure conjecture on my part I’d freely admit, but just cos you live in a democracy doesn’t mean you get the government you’d like.

The thing is it’s not really a difficult problem to solve. Everyone knows that Israel has to withdraw to it’s 1967 borders, the Arab nations have to ackwnollege the existance of Israel as a legitamate state, and Jerusalem will need some joint or independent control, something akin to the vatican state maybe. All sides broadly realise that this is the only solution that can bring some semblence of peace, but they’re all too wrapped up in the baggage of the past to start moving forward to this :(

get an older person to insure the car and make you a named driver. a lot of insurance companies will recognise no claims as a named driver in years to come and your policy will then be cheaper.

And make sure no-one ever finds out that older person isn’t the prime driver, as you’ll find out your insurance is void :)

I’d say that suspension hasn’t really evolved, though the marketing has. Like you say shocks have evolved, But also the frame engineering has improved as manufacturers have built up a wealth of experience as to what makes a frame stiff and light.

Is there a general guide as to how much faster a TT bike is compared to a ‘normal’ road bike?
It depends on how fast you’re riding. If you’re doing a 10 in 30 minutes then it will make bugger all difference, if you’re doing one in 20 then it’ll make a huge difference. Probably not worth considering unless you’re doing sub 25 times but ymmv.
However if you want to make you’re roadbike a lot quicker then stick a set of clip ons on it, you’ll get most of the benifits of a tt bike with just this one change.

admire Chris Hoy and the many other British riders, but bottom line is that he does not save lives, he cycles round a track. Respect to him, but the honours system is shallow, full of the in crowd patting each other on the back and should be (if it exists at all) done by public vote.

The problem of opening the honnors to a general public vote, is that on the whole the general public are fickle and stupid, and you’d end up with people voting for Sir wasitname who used to be in the soap, but had a lovely bum and cried a bit cos he misses his mum in i’m a celeb and get me out of here. Plus Ant and Dec would be voted King and Queen.
Giving the awards to only worthy people – people who save lives – run homeless shelters etc. would mean that people really wouldn’t pay any attention to the honours, because no one is really that interesting in the good and the worthy, meaning the honours would no longer have a high public profile.
Hence why we currently have a combination of the good, worthy, famous, winners, rich and powerful. That way many sections of society are aware of the honours, though few will be happy with the way they are selected :)
