Good on em. Hopefully they’ll be a website where I can buy a bit of the land. It’s a complex business, and they’re may be valid reasons for building a new airport, but after hearing a spokesman for the proposed expansion tell a series of blatent mistruths on the radio a week back, I’m for anything that screws the feckers over.

it would be good if they actually brought them in an environment that represented the majority of the UK residents, rather than some rarified boarding school reserved for the upper echelons of the UK establishment

/Shuuders. The last thing i’d want representing the UK would be someone brought up on a diet of x-factor and big brother.

Stoner, attacking the hippy’s commune with a giant magic mushroom is a basic fail.

Do you find the term Brit offensive?

I’m not sure why you would want to kill harmless people
It’s safer. Less likely to fight back.

Well, I’ve looked at the website for 2 minutes and am none the wiser as to what the place was about.
    Then I noticed you’re second link :)

Don Simon – wrong I am afraid – if the dog puts me in fear the owner has committed an offense.

Not entirely true. For instance if you have a phobia, which is defined as an *irational* fear then the owner has committed no offence – assuming that the owner doesn’t know of the phobia. It’s back to the clapham ominbus for the definition of reasonable grounds for fear – that will be a judges take on the situation.

If a dog rushes up to you in attack mode then theres nowt wrong with kicking it, and yes it does teach it a lesson. Look at dog packs in the wild, they don’t put dogs in the correct command order by gathering chairs round in a circle, and having a talk over a cup of tea and a nice macaroon..
Of course if some soppy dog wanders over wagging it’s tail and clearly wanting to be friends, then kicking it would be insanely stupid and wrong. And owners with over-protective dogs should realise they’re going to have problems sharing trails.

Less criticism to them than the people who could not kill a live animal but still eat meat … think they are the real hypocrits in this debate.

That’s not being a hypocrit, i’m not too sure what the word is, but it’s certainly not that. For instance, i’m pretty certain that although I wouldn’t work in a sewer, the fact i’d happily poo in a lav wouldn’t make me a hypocrit :)

I heard it was a tenticle coming down from the sky. Sounds like the work of a noodly appendage of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

It’s a bit on the low side. 90 is considered about right.
Bear in mind you said ‘average’, so if that included freewheeling, and accelerating than 70 would be good. But if you mean you’re riding along and the instantaeous reading is averaging about 70 then that’s low.
To go about speeding it up, ride in a lower gear and pedal quicker. Will probably feel odd at first.
Obviously that’s based on the assumption that you’re young and injury free.
If you’re an OAP, then don’t worry about it :)

Probably over a month since a non commute ride. I’ve lost my mojo at the moment, so getting on the bike to do anything other than commute isn’t that enticing.

companies should sack people sooner rather than later. what is the point of paying people to make stuff you can’t sell.
    sack half the workforce

Making people redundant costs the company money. It costs them to make them redundant in the first place, it costs them money when it comes to reemploy and retrain new staff in the future, and it costs the company though loss of moral of remaining staff who have a tendancy to become less productive or jump ship as they no longer have faith in the company.
Obviously paying people to make stuff you can’t sell isn’t sensible, but just panicking and making loads of people redundant might not always be sensible either.

Yep, it certainly makes the petzl’s seem a joke by comparison.

It’s 7% less sales rather than 7% less profit. Profit could be anything.
But yep, I suspect that a lot of companies do panic sacking and get rid of more people than they need to.

Damn straight. I’m off to don a bomb belt and sit on a tube train. That’ll show em.

Yep still got the inbred. I often get caught out when I first ride it after swapping from the superlight with a long stem and titchy bars to the inbred with its huge risers and short stem. Stamp on the pedals, pull on the bars, land on your arse :)
