Some dimmers aren’t up to dimming low voltage lights.
See the website below. (I don’t know how to link just cut and paste into your browser.)

It could be volt drop due to the extensions lights taken from existing lighting circuit.
Or in past I found lamps popping due to a loose connection somewhere and even the houses supply cable being very old and being too small for the modern demands we want from our electrics.
Sorry for being a bit long winded but sounds like you need a spark to come round and investigate.

I wear a lot of merino and love it but found some makes are head and shoulders above others on quality.
Howies merino is very good, Endura is only alright.

Replace pendant lights with ‘enclosed’ double lamp 5′ fluorescents and fit a bench angle poise lamp from a socket.
I got some used 5′ double lamp flourescent light fittings from work and went a bit mad and filtted all six. It’s quite a big garage but still a bit overkill.

Can we have more really bad statues please, doesn’t matter if they’re not of fiotball managers.
Have you ever seen the statue of William Wallace at the Wallace monument in Stirling? It’s looks more like a certain alcoholic, racist, bible bashing Aussie.

I bought one from Aldi and really want to run it with 2 18650 rechargables but seems I need an extension bit or maybe I could bodge it with aluminium foil and insulation tape.

The voltage of the three aaa batteries is 4.5V but I can’t find a rechargable cell any bigger than 3.7A. Will this okay or will it push the amps up and overload the circuitry?

What’s the best solution for rechargable batteries?
It looks like you could maybe replace the battery carrier with one cell.

I borrowed a Karate Monkey for a few weeks once and it was no way as much fun to ride as my Cotic Soul. I think it would make a great tourer but I ride for fun not to get somewhere. It was slower up- hill than my Soul as well.

Good choice, it’s fairly easy to follow as its on well defined trails but if you have time and the legs spend some time playing around the 3 brethren as there’s a few different options of descents which are all ace. I’m sorry I cant offer any gpx but I had to comment as I’m so jealous. I’m working down that there London for a while and miss the Borders.

Porthcurno is indeed a beautiful place for some sun, sea and sand action. Have you checked out what it looked like in the war? You would need bolt cutters and asbestos underpants just to take a paddle in the sea. 😉

I really thought the New Zealand way of speed limits on its tight country roads was fantastic. They put speed limits before bends that reflect their difficulty.

Endura zyme 3/4 shorts, good fit – cheap, tough as old boots and keep my knees pretty well protected.
Specialized 2-bliss tyres – Good price, nice tread patterns, good weight, dual compound and tubeless ready.
Merlin built wheels – good price, well made and good service.
Truvativ holzfella stem – ugly, heavy but cheap, incredibly stiff and tough.
Shimano deore disc brake levers – shimano don’t do rebuild kits but at £12.99 a lever who needs them.

Just some off the top of my head.

My five developed an annoying creak when climbing. I found it went away when I really tightened the rear wheel quick release. I don’t think the rear drop outs should have grease on them as it could cause slippage.
My commuter started creaking and then the saddle fell off after the seat post saddle bolt sheared.
Hope my suggestions are of use.

I had a 36/24 double and bash on my 2008 five and just cleared the swing arm by couple of mm.
I think 38 is a bit too big plus the fives suspension was built around a 32 t chainring so might not work as intended.

Buy a cheap and capable frame like an on-one Scandal or 456 and have fun building it up.

The bike helmet manufactures should have some real world crash info from the crash damaged ones people exchange for new ones like what the wife did with her helmet.

Saw it this afternoon and really enjoyed it, it looks amazing.
The wife thought it was ok though.
I like the way it leaves you thinking after watching, definitely requires another watch.

When commuting to work I started calorie counting not to lose weight but to make sure I was eating enough.
A meal deal from boots ( chicken salad sandwich, bag of crisps and a 500 ml bottle of ribena) only came to about 900 calories. I was burning up about a 1000 on the commute plus my job as an electrician is pretty active so I was having to eat what felt like constantly.
Some days it would have been cheaper driving than cycling with my bad food cravings.

    now thats nice service.

all frames will eventually break no matter what theyre made of.

I’ve seen a lot of wildlife over the years. The one encounter that stands out is on a night ride I catch up with a fox. He’s walking the same way as me and I shout out a warning. The fox just stops and turns to face me. I stop and shine my light on my self so the fox sees what I am. I thought the fox would just take off but it started walking towards me. Now the thought of rabies enters my head and I shit it. I put my bike between us and manage to get past the fox. I jump on and pedal like mad and the fox trotts behind me for a while then loses interest and goes his own way.

Love my day one which has done many thousands of miles. A lot of half centuries too.
The components fitted are pretty much perfect for its intended use though there are a few exceptions, the wheel bearings are made of cheese, the saddle is not very comfy, the white bar tape was not a good idea and the tyres are poo.
But it is so comfy and feels bomb proof and is enjoyable off road.

And those cheap screw on freehubs I do not trust especially in freezing weather.

Why can’t cars be sold as a cheap no frills form of transport instead of all of the other bull that the marketing man try’s to sell us.
A car for me should be cheap, economical, able to carry 4 people with luggage and above all be fun to drive.
You don’t need lots of power and crap like leather seats, front fogs, climate control thick carpets and fancy cup holders.
Put the seats close to the ground, strip out the sound proofing and fit narrow tyres and 30mph becomes fun.
    Ever driven a mini?

i think in a few years when the new F1 engine tech moves down to regular cars its going to be amazing. v6 1.3 with 600bhp woop woop…
i do wish that cars manufacturers would try to lighten their cars a bit more. i feel there should be a bigger version of the aygo. cut most of the dash away, slim down the seats, use more composites, smaller engines with big turbos, remove carpets minimize the amount of windows (as glass is pretty heavy) and maybe get rid of electric everything as motors are pretty heavy too. maybe a golf at under a ton?

i have a 1.4 turbo bravo with 150bhp and when i first got it i drove it like my old almera 1.5 16 valve twin cam. I got no where near the stated mpg until i changed the way i drove it. The almera didnt move until you really revved it but with the bravo because of the slight turbo lag its best if you press the accellerator down a little a fraction of a second before you press down further. Driving this way you use the torque of the engine to gain speed not revs just like a diesel.
I have had the mpg over 20% higher than the stated mpg by not letting the engine rev any higher 3000rpm.

Those Charge trousers that Chris Akrigg wears. Or maybe something from Sombrio, CRC had Sombrio stuff in a sale. I find 3/4 Endura Zymes to be a good compromise and they’re cheap, fit well and take the odd crash pretty well.

I bought a 70mm truvativ hussefelt cheap to try out different positions. I’ve ended up leaving it on as its very stiff looks hardcore and I can’t imagine me breaking it.
Go cheap and strong then buy something fancy when you’ve got your setup dialed.

Love, love ,love my soul. I think its a lot stiffer than my scandal but more comfy than my inbred.
The thing about my soul above anything else is its just so much fun and can handle a bit of everything.
I got asked by a guy on a five at Glentress recently what the souls geometry and intended use was. I just said it had magic geometry and it was for mountain biking.

I crashed my black soul and bought an orange replacement. The black is very understated and the orange is much classier looking.
You could buy my damaged frame and have it repaired & painted in any colour you like cheaper than a new soul.

Good price and only a bit heavier than than the competition. They’re easy to maintain, replacement bearings are cheap. If packed with grease regularly will last a long time. mine are five years old with regular use and still working fine.
