I’ve always fancied taking a big downhill bike down deliverance but the redemption climb would hurt too much.

I had 180mm truvativ stylo crank on my 2006 single speed Inbred 26er, fitted as standard.
They were handy on the climbs.

Great jacket but you should really try for size as I squeeze into a medium and don’t get any flappy arms.
With a merino base layer it still works well in the colder months as its quite wind proof.

I find that when your on form single speeding is one of the most joyous things in the world.
But if you’re have an off day then it is a really miserable experience.

Singlespeed for getting fit and gears for recovery.

    Did you use stans fluid?
Did you shake the bottle a lot before use?
Take the wheels off pump tyres up to a higher pressure than you normally use and give the wheel a good shake ensuring sealant (and little rubber balls) get into all holes.. Leave overnight and and reduce pressured to you desired level and they should be good to go.
Tubeless can be a pain setting up but I rarely get any issues now.
Also I find specialized 2-bliss tyres to be very good especially Purgaterys.

I couldn’t find any cheaper than Merlin cycles.
    £30 off a XT cassette.

I think a good starting point for regular trail riding is 30psi front & 35psi rear.
Though I’m running more like 25psi front & 30psi rear which is a bit less bouncy on rocky descents.

I’m about your height and normally ride 18″ mountain bikes and 56cm road bikes but I found that a Canondale 56cm was way too long but a 54cm spot on.

Crashed at glentress and getting up I noticed a felled tree next to me with lots of short sharp looking branches sticking out literally inches from my ribs. I snapped every branch off that tree just in case the next person to overshoot the corner wasn’t as lucky as me.

When on a rewire my pall went to flick a dead mouse off the fuse board main switch and got a belt. Seems the mouse was quite fresh.

I didn’t mean bunny hop over the jump but from the lip of the jump.

If you can do a bunny hop (with flat pedals) then you can clear doubles.
Just practise bunny hops but slow it down so you can feel what the exact technique is then transfer the techniqe to the trails.
    Worked for me.

Extra curricular activities I think are vital to help let young people develope, gain confidence and choose something they like doing. The resources that modern schools have near me are amazing and were not available to me growing up.
I dread when my kids go to school because of the short days they have, I really would prefer to have my kids to be at school longer but doing things they want to do.

Pay teachers more money, reduce class sizes, decrease amount of school holidays and extend school day with extra curricular activities.
That should help solve a few social and economical issues with this country.

2005 On-one 26″ pearl white inbred rigid single speed with sliding dropouts.
That bike rode thousands of miles and never let me down but I hadn’t ridden it in 6 months and sold last year.

I find road descents scarier mainly I think of the crazy top speed and the lack of traction from 23mm tyres pumped to 100psi.
I live near the Bathgate hills where there is some very fast descents with tight hairpins. The fastest for me is Kingscavil hill with its single lane bridge and farm at the bottom. Which you would never have enough time to slow down for if there was oncoming traffic, the local cycling club run an annual hill climb race up it and featured on the Adventure show.

I found a similar hole in a similar place once and I was told it probably was a Cleg (horse fly) bite.
It took ages to completely heal but there wasn’t really any pain.

Scotland’s full of such routes and if you’ve got a smart phone then download ‘Bikehub’ which will show you loads of options and navigate you also.

I’m English and live in scotland I’ve also lived in Wales and Ireland.
I have only experienced good old banter about being English in day to day life but when sports and alcohol is involved nice normal folk just turn into proper bigoted xenophobes.
I hate the way this extreme behaviour is just accepted, if the same behaviour was exhibited in an english office environment somebody would be reprimanded.

I enjoyed commuting around London when I worked there for a few months last year, it was a good buzz. Although I would never recommend it to a novice or a young family, sounds good as long as its paid for by Londoners.

That specialized looks good. I’d be buying a crosser though, i always felt like I was just abusing my road bike.

The magic weight for vans is 2000kg. Over that and its 60mph on dual carriage ways.
The connect is over 2000kg, the berlingo & combo are under 2000kg.

I’ve got a vauxhall combo for sale if interested?
I bought for the same reasons as yourself and it has a solid steel bulkhead devider between the seats and back and has security deadlocks.
