Now theres a good idea 🙄 will mail him and see what he's got to say.

Is it silly getting an older frame to do up? what are the moderner (is that a word) equivalents?

Nina, super report ten out of ten 😀

Bonj, Went for the first time on Sunday and to be honest wasn't really looking forward to it but, and it is a big but, had a really great time. The weather was crap but the place held up really well the only part that was a little sketchy were the big berms and they were still massive amounts of fun.

If you don't mind the drive its very good

    Alex,

Second Ed's suggestion, but if you don't fancy a night ride the guys in the shop will be more than happy to point you in the right direction, they have a fair bit of local knowledge.

as long as the zesty can handle small jumps, rock gardens, all day rides and still fly down a hill then it probably is at the top of the pile

It can, will, very comfortably and the best of my ability do all of the above. Plus has made me a more confident rider and grin more hammering about the lakes than my other bike………………………….which is a 100mm ali hard tail but still

    GET ONE THERE ACE!!

Nope not to my knowledge, think its a 916 any how and its being sold though bike treks ambleside, not a cheap bike.

Zesty seems very popular, I've had one for six months now and love it.
Also know of a second hand Spicy thats for sale and has been used with out problem all day in the lakes and alps.

Gourdon from alpkit the smaller one 20l is great but out of stock at the moment. I have been using one the last year commuting everyday plus ridding for fun in the evening and at the weekends. Cannot recommend them enough they are great and proper good value for money

the surface doesn't have to be flat to apply vinyl and any sign place worth there salt should be able to do it for you no problems. The plus point of vinyl as opposed to paint is you can easily reapply it if it gets tatty.

by the way I'm a sign maker so if you get stuck please give us a shout mail in profile or try gil@thecycleshed.co.uk nice chap I was talking to this morning

yeap it was the really thin stuff that I was after..

braylee8 I can do normal vinyl sticks at the moment really easily as I work as a sign maker, plus I'm not restricted by vinyl colour as i have a printer that can do full colour and cut. whay were you after

Up until a few weeks ago rode with my light on the bars but have recently bought a new lid that had a nice flat top so thought that I would try helmet mounting my light and I find it much better. The lights where you look makes sense really.
The disadvantage is that i keep blinding the people I ride with but i'm sure they'll get used to it.

    cheers!

Had seen and read that but everything looks bigger and different on the bolt through hubs, only seems to be one release nut, not sure if that's the correct name for it, couldn't see any thing on the rotor side.

Any how ridding tonight so will have a proper fettle with it tomorrow.

    Hi Steve,

I've got 2.20's and have just measured them and they seem spot on, they have a nice round profile so are as deep as they are wide

They don't drag much at all as they have harder center knobs I think

hope this is of some use to you

I have been using purgatory's front and back for the last six months on my zesty riding mostly in the lakes and really like them, but i do have a fairly limited knowledge of tyres.
There are a lot of the guys I ride with using them and they all have nothing but good things to say about them they are great for the lakes and you can get front and back for just over £40. Buy some and give them a go if you don't like them its not a massive hit financially and I would buy them off you for when mine wear out.

Gourdon Used every day for the last year both commuting and proper riding I think that they are ace

came with my bike, used them for two months holed the back so went tubed with it then entered a world of pinch flats so they came off the bike and on to my hard tail.

Really didn't get on with them they seem to have very little grip on most surfaces that have any moisture on. I have a scabby elbow to prove it.

I think there a bit poo.

    Tom,

Think that they have a demo bike at biketreks as well, its only down the road from you.

I have a Zesty 514 which is great not found it that slow up hill, if anything I'm the slow part of the equation. For riding round the lakes its great lets me get away with murder.

hope this is of some help 🙂

    I’m going!

will be getting there at some point this evening, hope the weathers better than it is up here its persisting it down at the moment.

Off to buy some 6″ nails to use as tent pegs because the camping is in the bottom of the old quarry which is made of rock

    Should be fun!!

especially if you were “NAILING” them

Don’t know what you mean, confidence is a bit of a double edged sword i am finding

i’ve ground back the jaw that fits inside the rim so that the outer jaw sits lowe

Now thats good advice think that instead of a grinder I’ll use a piece of ali though

    Thanks muchness

hopefully here is a picture of mine which is completely standard and now has mud and peddles on it.

plus the demo bike that broke me and made me buy mine it was very good but very very expensive.

just bought one, Zesty 514, and am very happy with it so far. That said I’ve only done one ride, 20 mile, on it so haven’t really got to know it properly.

It does look beautiful though of that counts for anything.
