    Dave,

The BW from Moor top to hawkshead is Vicarage lane and it a pretty good fast flat out desent if you link it with THIS Path you get a nice bit of single track instead of the fire road.

Claifes got loads of stuff over it you cant go wrong really, the FP off of latterbarrows a good one.

PTiger’ Reet that defo sounds like a tryer and the fix the fells steps are always good for a challenge. plus it seems to drop you at the top of the best bit of the castle crag.

Clare, will definitely get up one Tuesday probably the week after next, what timeish do you guys finish? It’s a bit of a treck south to get home. I think were going up one weekend in August……….. one of the groups a Teacher so we have to work within school hols 🙄 really should find out the date.

    Morning chaps,

The dale head addition looks like a good option had a look on the map and there are three tracks going down to the tarn hows this relate on the ground? does it really matter which one you take.

Mike I’ve been considering a trip up to Keswick for a while would be a good time to do I think? whats the deal with the ride, normally go out with Biketreks on a Tuesday so its not much further to travel 🙂

    Kev,

Sounds like a good one, will pass it on to the others, add it to the list.

Does anybody know of anything that can be added on to the bottom of the castle crag decent, going in a westerly direction, its one of the areas I’ve always wanted to have a go at?

    Taa Kev,

looks like a good route how ridable is the ridge line from red pike? Pretty sure some mates had a mare up there a few years ago, always wanted to ride down Ennerdale should be getting interesting there now there naturalising it. I’d probably ride this from buttermere though to reduce the driving (or ride in) is the tail end of this to kirkland going to be missed?

    Hi,

Owned one for two years, 514, and it is a great bike. never noticed anything particularly bad about the float R shock. I have replaced the BB once and the headset bearings twice. Two weeks ago was the first time that the shock bushing had to be replaced and I managed to get one of the fancy needle bearing kits for a good price.

The only problems that I have with it are the fact it fills with water around the BB which seems to speed up its rate of wear, but this is combated by taking the seat out and storing it upside down after wet rides. I have a problem with heal rub on the chain stays but thats more to do with me than the bike. The headset is really badly sealed hence having to change the bearing regularly next time they go I’m fitting a hope one to solve this.

Its ridden twice a week in the lakes all year round and gets a fair bit of hammering……………………..and has not broken yet, plenty of dints in the frame and the fork looks like its been chewed

GREAT BIKE IF YOU LIKE IT BUY IT

    Hey,

I’ve been ridding my Zesty for two years now and really love it. Climbs well as long as your willing to shift your weight ‘properly’ forwards which gives it loads of grip out back. The bike really starts to work properly when it gets a bit of speed up on the downs though it becomes a lot more agile and responsive the quicker it goes so really encourages a bit of bravery.

It suits my style of ridding which tends to be a bit point and shoot, not even sure if that couts as a style but they are really confidence inspiring bikes.

I have no experience at all of any Ghost bikes and my Zesty’s an older model so my advice may be a bit poor.

    Ho hum

I have deore rings fitted to mine at the mo, waiting for them to wear out so I can put the much nicer stylo ones on. So it would seem not all Deore rings are the same… I did have a problem fitting the 22 tooth ring though 🙂 hope this helps

Bloody hell Grum……. didn’t need an other option.

Right there is defo a black chilli 2.2 here from the horses mouth and the weight matches merlin.

Grum whats your opinion of the Big Earls how tough are they whats the grip like??

    IamSam

Waaaa confused now here it says the 2.2 is black chilli, good to know that they are both good tires and theres not much in it price or weight wise so its down to wether there black chilli or not.

any real world differences with the grip?

Pretty sure, though I have never been my self, that people ride from the peddler cafe in kendal on a tuesday night?? could be a Thursday. Give KMB a ring they will be able to help out I’M SURE

Biketreks rides are from the shop in Ambleside on tuesday nights 6.30 and all over the south lakes on Thursdays there are normally updates on the website if not call the shop and they will let you know.

Lucky man moving to the lakes great place to love. Were slowly working our way north.

going For a ride out of Ambleside and hoping my Bottom Bracket doesn’t fall out……………
This will however give me a very good excuse to cut the ride short as I’ve not been for three months and am pretty sure I’m about to get a beasting 😛

hey moved up here 2007 from Manchester and really like it. As has been said the lakes is all very close by. I can get to Borrowdale in about an hourish and Ambleside’s 40mins.

Traffic is bloody awful but there is very little reason to drive as most places are easily accessed by foot or bike if you live in town.

House’s are all mainly Victorian in Lancaster and compare to most places up north. It can feel a little bit cut off but thanks to the uni there is a decent amount of culture art, house cinema and very good gallery, if this interests you at all.

    Great place to live 🙂

Junkyard it is defiantly a Mech issue no problems moving the chain up the chainrings, it is fairly hardwork on the shifter end though. but there is no initial movement down the chain rings, the cable always goes slack and a nudge from the heal will drop the mech down. Defo no problems with the cables or the shifter.

    IamSam

Rob new cables and shifter. I will take the mech off again this evening and give it a soak in degreaser than agitate it with a tooth brush and see if that gets the thing moving.

Reet ho. Thanks for all the advice on this, I ended up going for the pipedream infinity forks as I could get them in white, which is very important. fitted them over the weekend and tried them out today for the first time. Good god does the bike fly now. massive 2.3 big apple slicks and removal of the old Tora pogo stick have transformed the bike and allowed the frame to shine through really really happy with it and my self.

thanks you all and that is all…………………..
