Rode, some of it :-), this summer.
Not really sure about it to be honest we had a fair few problems coming down two offs and a broken mech may have had something to do with it.
Its pretty much as described above A fair bit of it is rideable but it can be exposed, theres a pretty severe drop to your left, which I managed to go over with scared the shite out of me. I reckon though on a dry day and the right frame of mind it would be grand.

I know a few guys who love it.

Anc… up dale head from the top of honister following the ridge then down to the top of the castle crag BW past the old slate workings. tagged it onto the classic bash route. liking the sound of yours, plenty carrying, will put it to the committee

You know what for some unknown reason Rosset Gill scares me, and I’ve never even seen it. Wella crags and the right hander after the hidden view should get rid of most of the road stuff in watendlath which is nice.

Any advice in and around Dodd woods ???????????? other than avoid the Ospreys

Bren2709, you getting up onto wella crag past the mast? then back onto route at ashness bridge? if so not sure how I’ve missed that 🙂 looks like a good bit of road avoidance.

ir_bandito thats the route exactly camping in stonethwaite so rossett to finish puts us close to home but theres a big bloody hill in the way.

Scruff as I feared had been told not to bother…. but the guy had tried it about twenty years ago.

Was just looking at Fleetwith pike then looping back and over styhead, long day with lots of carrying but at least there’s a pub half way round.

d45yth, up there Friday mid day through till Monday lat afternoon, So two big days with short techy ride on the Friday, normally Skiddaw but the weather looks crap. easier XC type affair normally on the Monday.

Also anybody ridden up easdale to greenup edge??? I know its part of the coast to coast walk the other way so must be a reasonable trail.

Buy new and get the opportunity to purchase on finance normally 0% from a shop who you then get to know you. You also get manufacturer warranty. Because you bought it from a shop that now knows you if anything does go wrong there more inclined to help you out if you go in with a last minute repair job, may even lend you the tools. You know whats been done to the bike through out its life coz you’ve done it 😀

Only got two bikes both bought from new ones a proper triggers broom though frame replaced under warranty.

Have a set of Syncros DS 28 rims on Hope Pro II hubs not sure on the spokes as they came pre-built from Santa cruz. I have been ridding them for nearly two years and they have been faultless the odd little scratch on the rims but still true. Also had very little trouble ghetto’in them managed it with a track pump and some cursing.
Used in the lakes mainly and replaced some “cheese” shimano XT’s which were crap.

    Sam, yes, No.

Although when I was a small kid it did seam like most of the local dogs were called Sam as well. Plus I was always asked by any new teacher what my proper name was as Sam couldn’t be my full name.

been running Purgatory as front and back tyres for the last two years in the lakes, so not a whole lot of mud, and they have been pretty good. The side walls are quite thin so I now have an ignitor LUST on the back, the purgatory had more grip.

These have lasted me four years. I had to cut out the pad, it was a towel type affair, but it seems they have changed it now.
They have been worn pretty much every day the colours have faded but they are still bomb proof.

Theres a ride out of Ambleside every Tuesday night we leave from the main car park at around half six people start to arrive at sixish. Not to many people so theres not a whole lot of stopping. Andy who owns biketreks is often out so its a good way of getting to know the area.

Sorry but once again Alp x’s, not cheep but i broke mine and Gore replaced them without a quibble.
I have previously had Altura ones, they were awful lasted two months. Also went down the cut off ex army path, they were really uncomfortable and the arse went on them at the beginning of a very wet weekend.

You spends your money and all that

    Yeap I’m playing out tonight.
The weather in North Lancs doesn’t look too bad no rain little bit of wind and some cloud cover to keep the heat in.
For some reason tend to ride more during the autumn and winter any-hows and pretty much always in the dark as well, guess you get out when you can. I mostly ride in the lakes where the trails are a lot less weather effected than other places which of course helps.

Another recommendation for the Alp x all you have to do is make sure you keep the zip on the back closed and I’d get a toggle for the lace tie at the front, mainly because I’m lazy, but also because its easier to get them on and off with gloves on.
