Have been in a similar situation for the last two/three years.

BUT today I do have my resignation letter in my hand and it will be in the bosses hand in under 3 hours time 😀

As iolo says life is tooo short there’s pretty much always a way of getting by and happiness cannot be bought ( unless it has two wheels ) have a proper think about it don’t rush into a decision but if your not happy get out.

Yeap you will pretty much definitely get a telling off from the farmer, know to be very anti cycling. shame though as it would be a very useful trail.

have flow shorts and gloves. Very happy with both of them, lost the logo from one of the gloves but they have held up very well apart from that. The shorts are really really nice, expensive but i can’t see them breaking any time soon. My better half even suggested I get married in them make of that what you will.

I’ve never ridden it personally but have it on pretty good authority that it is a bit of a pig, good way of linking into the area but pretty much a hike by all accounts. But please let me know what its actually like 🙂
because I plan to do it over the next month anyways.

I recon.. Road out under loughrigg over to Rydal house, coffin road down to Grassmere up red bank through the trees then down the terrace. Should be about 45 minutes plus there are a few variants you can do as well. if you look on a map or after getting your eye in :-).

    Alternatly just ask at Biketreks.

Not a great deal of riding to be honest, South lakes is as close nearly from Morecambe and loads loads better.

Queeny, duke of Lancaster, owns most of the bowlands so its been turned over to grouse shooting on the tops. Theres a decent route out the back of dunsop bridge. big day out over salter fell, and of course gisburn forest.

I live in Lancaster but mostly ride in the south lakes if that means out 🙂

    CHEERS,

we were very proud of it, my dads still sending out pictures of it, has shrunk a fair bit though now, one of the reasons we did the sloping sides.

difficult to say how much wood went in as we got all the timber as rough cut lengths, it was four van loads though so a lot of wood. there was one dumpy bag full of sawdust after I’d cut it all up. Bases diameter is probably pretty close to 3m.

Also we didn’t really have any system for filling the inside went for the random approach again this was to try and accommodate the shrinkage and not loose any of its structural strength.

    hope this helps

I have a jar at work that is a mixture of diesel and engine oil that my chain gets dropped into every week or so, it then get hung on a nail and drains back into the same jar. Two birds with one rather grubby stone. Think petrol is a better cleaner than diesel but this isn’t from experience.

Same experiences here. Set of DX Spd’s that must be nearly 6 years old and other than looking shocking and one of the plastic cages having a bit of a wobble they are fine. Also have a set of 520’s that are very nearly 4 years old that again look cack but work fine these are used every day and get next to no attention what so ever.

    Shimano pedals are brilliant

run them all year round, and have done for three years. My ridding is pretty much just in the lakes so comparable to the peak. Highly recommend them.

The side wall is a bit thin but have been running higher pressures to counter this about 35-40 psi. Always start them off tubeless then revert to tubes when the inevitable holes appear, normally in the main body not the walls. After doing this get pretty much a years worth of ridding from a pair, but that is only two outings a week so about 30-40 miles.

2.2 2bliss for me not got new ones yet, due in January.

Fingers crossed…………….would it be possible to run it in reverse to get people onto the hill as well?

I personally think the zipwire is a good idea spreading the lakes appeal can surely only be a good thing.

Cheers for all this info chaps.

Another question though, Noticed there are a few tensioners out there which use a roller instead of a Jockey wheel any advantages/disadvantages to the different systems??

Almost ready to take the plunge now 😆 soon be strong like ox……………………………………………………………………………………………or calf
