i think the tried and tested saying about ‘no such thing as bad weather just the wrong/ right kit/ clothing ‘ helps

I feel your pain OP. You’ve now got to sort out a problem that didn’t exist before at your expense…I should imagine finding the screws would be quite straight forward.. just a pain.

never used them but..( and this wont help you )

years ago my sports exhaust dropped and was dragging along the road. Happened 10 yards from a quikfit. Limped into quikfit and they did a quick fix repair to get me home – for free.

looks like a 2006.( well maybe a 2004ish to 2006 iirc ) I think late 2006 or 2007 was the same except for had a slightly different head tube gusset.

judging from the stickers he’s a motocrosser and I guess has made parts / fitted parts some how from MX bike ( bargain bin 😉 ) bits.

Look like huck bikes and are bonkers

Amazing. I also love the way Robbie drifts the bike on the dirt.

worth getting the haynes manual even if you do not intend doing too much work on it yourself. They are just useful sometimes to have around.

Looks good. Very tidy. Enjoy 🙂

wasn’t sure if it covered the gti. Some gt / gti / turbo / sporting etc.. models might be a bit different ( engine – obviously but also suspension, transmission etc )to the more regular versions..

You probably know this already I guess but first thing i’d do is make sure there’s no mud build up around all the fenders and gti plastic bumper bits, and then come summer apply wax-oil underneath ( or in the doors etc) too.

You may also possibly be able to get classic car insurance for it too ( can be very good value) especially if you have a modern second car.

Have a read/join an owners club maybe too.

Friend took me out in a tiny Nissan Sunny turbo once. It was nuts. 🙂

word of warning. Love the brakes. But i swapped my hoses over and gave them a proper outing the other day. Although I thought they were fine they deffo need a re-bleed. Not a problem as I have new hoses to go on anyway. I should add that I didn’t top up the resovour either which would probably help.

Think how fast you could go on the flat’s. Would prefer an MTB for the UK though. Don’t really see the point of the DH version. Maybe makes sense in Oz and US. They do appear to go rather quickly though.

Not sure I’d want to ride trails knowing there’s 90lb motor assisted high speed monster’s on the same trail. Interesting point about the MX noise made above. Can see the use there on an MX track.

I do think it’s great for the world that such electric technology is now viable and getting ever better with potential to help the environment.

I think some people have an understandably blinkered view of what classic’s are tbh. Something like the Puma would probably be appreciated if it was driven I guess by doubters. I should image magazines like Evo understand good cars at a very great level and make judgements from their experience of cars with souls.

Classy – get an old Jag.

There must be other VW’s that are good’uns other than the golf?

I see some pretty mean looking Polo’s ( although newer )

mk2 and mk1 escorts are great in theory but tbh I’d want to sink a fair chunk into one to get something sound although you may get lucky.

I am no expert but I guess early VW’s are built to last and look great even in lesser forms with the correct treatment.I’d go for a mk2 golf most likely but I am sure other VW’s are great too.

Might be worth looking at some of the 1980’s/ 1990’s jap hot hatches or coupes too if this is your chosen path.

I’ve always hankered after a Fiat Uno Turbo ie. Not sure why I think it’s the word Turbo and because they look very functional and sort of ugly in a good way. Seem pretty rare of the bay though. Apparently they’re are still made / recently been made in some country and original new spares are cheap and plentiful. Almost bought a Mk1 Black fiesta Super Sport as my first car. Still remember it vividly. Passed though. Seemed too immaculate in some areas and suspected it as being repaired heavily at the front end iirc.

Might be worth getting hold of a practical classics or retro rides magazine – would give you loads of ideas. My local Tescos stock both.

sorry I’d had I’d a pint or two. I meant the stuff earlier than Urban Hymns is really good (read different in a good way) Verve had quite a following before the success of Urban Hymns although I love this album too.Not explored the albums but got their first few released cd singles. Some of the B tracks sound kinda experimental.

Good bulking products are yoghart, bananas, milk, or ice cream. I like using prunes or peaches mostly.
