50 to 55 mph in the middle lane of a motorway, hogging the lane, without any awareness about anything except the 10 ft in front of them. Good conditions, not much traffic on first or second lane, just cars on the outside.
Illegal to undertake. Overtaking requires sitting at 45 or 50 let them get ahead by a far distance, then accelerating and moving into the second and then outside lane.

Head position – fixed at straight ahead only. Would require some movement i guess to look at the speedo, conditions and the mirrors or move lane. Body position in seat – so upright you drive slowly thus removing the need to brake which in turn would result in tipping fowards.

    Crazy.

tomhoward – just out of interest how did you get on with that gt and how did it ride? That looks like a thing of beauty imho 🙂

Just a tip – Waxoiling the frame is imho a good idea if the frame is steel and kills existing rust i think as well as preventing further spread.

last two posts were not my orignal intention but seem so related and fitting..imho.

anyway keep the retros coming though if you can…

these bikes featured and the insight shared is amazing…

    This is our heritage… 26 inch …. I hope it doesn’t die…..

( ok 27.whatever.. is fine as long as it doesn’t replace 26 ).

    (Well done Spesh)

    Retro bikes rock
    this is our heritage..

this thread is my best ever. Never knew so many would have so much.

so yes modern bikes rock (except those worst of both world 27 thingy’s)

    BUT retro bikes rock hard!!!!

TBH, i’ll probably upset some but the only thing I dislike about retros are cantis, but a v conversation is simple.

    keep the 25 ( +1 ) alive!!!
take the 26 out into the sticks.
kill the 27 and send it to heaven.
not retro but the 29 is fine.
the 26 and the 29 can both be proud and stand in line.

Never ridden the peaks but to be honest I think the Dialled Alpine is an amazing frame and you’d love it. Being steel it would probably have some give too as I think they are based around fulfilling the needs of ( Alpine ) real mountain rides as well as UK stuff.

Rear tyre choice makes a huge difference as does experimenting with tyre pressures. (maybe run a rear DH tube in a large tyre at slightly lower pressures?)

prefer ht’s generally. Ride mine all the time. Only really proper DH that needs FS really.

when homewards bound trains from London have been cancelled and mass tailbacks of commuters occur, I ‘ve witnessed verbal abuse and aggression many times, often directed at someone for example, who ends up to be the person the aggressor squashes up against for an hour. All because of the frenzy at the time.

i guess something like a single ply 26 inch 2.3 or 2.4?? maxxis high roller would fit and also help out with traction without a clearance problem. Diameter would prolly be similar to a 27.5 I guess anyway. Also would keep the market open for both 27.5 frames and 26 inch wheels / tyres.

bleed properly. bed pads in properly. Decent sized rotors. Deore – most excellent

join the revolution – keep 26 inch alive!

Unless you have no choice.. blah …blah..blah…

Hopefully someone like superstar or dmr will keep the 26 turning over..

maybe 27.5 is brilliant for some too..choice is after all good.

been inside one and seen them flying overhead many many times. Even viewed them taking off and landing from the old airport viewing platforms (before terrorism).

The sound was immense. I spent my whole childhood looking to the sky’s when I heard their rumble overhead. This happended lots.

As much as I like and respect BA, I must admit that it was only (imho) their pride, that prevented them selling the whole fleet to Virgin – which in turn has prevented thousands of travellers and many thousands of onlookers experiencing Concorde first hand. It’s a bit like the plane version of seeing an E type Jag on a sunny day 😀

Surely their should be a bit of give and take when it comes to preserving such a classic and amazing peice of potentially profit making engineering such as concorde. Shame but sometimes ( imho ) people maybe cannot see the bigger picture.

of course people can also lose weight( from fat reduction ) by better diet and lose weight ( from fat reduction ) by taking up excercise.

muscle mass is I believe heavy. So for a given weight (of mainly muscle mass) and a given height it is possible that a high bmi would register, although in reality it could just be that your heavy, with a low fat content. It’s only a guide as I understand and probably useful for most normal folk. I understand a more important consideration for individuals is the amount of fat around the waist.

That’s why when people diet they can lose weight as they lose muscle. It’s why when people take up excercise they can get heavier due to developing more muscle mass, although the fat content is likely to go down.

halfauds sell split pins – used sometimes to secure pads on some models. May work on yours as a quick temp fix. could probably get them in DIY / hardware stores too

first i would try this – undo the lever reach adjuster so the brakes are on maximum extension – ie for massive hands..then try the pistons.. then readjusting if this works.

    iamroughrider
    Free Member

make sure there is no muck or build up on the pistons. Maybe careful clean the pretruding part and add a little brake fluid if you have any and push back in. Sometimes if the push/pressure isn’t perfectly square then the pistons do not go back in too.

post above ^^ is probably most relevant though
