you need an isis type crank puller – the one with the larger flatter central bit – http://www.totalcycling.com/index.php/product/TL_PARK_CCP44.html?action=currency&id=GBP or use a normal one with an american dime or 5pence piece to push against)
if they are 2008 onwards they didnt have the self extracting allen key bolt
The instructions that came with the cranks or online are wrong, they dropped the self extracting bit from 2008iain1775Free Memberi hear he is quite fast in a car
120mph fast
he has had a bad weekiain1775Free MemberThis ride starts and finishes at the Inn
does that refer to the photo above or the weblink below
iain1775Free Memberknow youve ordered already but I have a Lobo
With a full bladder its tight but I can fit –
in bottom zip bit –
2 tubes, multitool, spare mech hanger, puncture kit and a mars bar or my helmet cam (not both ;) but I usually eat the mars bar before helmet cam battery runs out)
in top zip bit –
car keys
house keys
phone
one of those hardcase plastic wallet things with my credit card, and change in
in the elasticated bit between the pockets –
pump
very compact showerproof
(or if I have full waterproof I just fold it and secure it under the strap that secures the top bit downIn 3 years never had any need for a bigger bag but just got an Evoc CC and find it cavenous (but very good)
iain1775Free MemberI have a Merlin build snowflake front wheel on the bike that is now my commuter but before that was my everyday mountain bike
Been going solid now for over 15 years, only needed a slight true twice
The rims are pretty much worn through now though which is a real shame5lab, does the OP have your permission to reproduce your photo? thats got to be worth an extra tenner ;)
iain1775Free MemberPure racing now do the i7 – a 27.2mm version. No idea if it exists in the flesh as is now any good.
18 Bikes in Hope have them in – and reduced as well
Saw one yesterday in the glass cabinet directly in front of the door, looked a bit ugly with the external reservoir but also looked like a good piece of Engineering so was a bit undecided
Think it was about £190ishiain1775Free Memberyep agree with above, if I go to wiggle through a google search it defaults to $
If I go direct its set up for my account in £iain1775Free MemberI converted my old voodoo, maybe went a bit further than most but everything was cheap of ebay or the like –
Tiagra road chainset
drop handlebars with Sora STI brake/ gear levers (running V Brakes via problem solvers – work spot on and no problem setting up despite what people told me
Pace RC31 rigid forks (already on the bike)
thin slick wheelstook some getting used to but it is noticebly faster now, although not as fast as a proper big wheeled road bike
Was thinking of switching to cable discs (that I have already) and putting a bigger diameter wheels on (with the skinny slicks there is loads of tyre clearance)
iain1775Free MemberM1 J28
A38 Litchfield A5 Tamworth
M42
M5
M50
then last bit across the top to bypass Newport/Cardiff roadworks, Swansea etc and pick up end of M4 past Neath
A48 CarmarthenYes you will hit Brum around rushhour but the variable traffic management on the M42 it generally flows okay these days and unfortunately unless you go down M1 all the way to M69 then M40 (J21 can be bad) there isnt an easy way to avoid it
Personally I find A38 traffic better than A42 but it depends what time you would hit the three roundabouts at Derby (its also a bit longer)
iain1775Free MemberEmac55, the monkey's night watchman…
Who?
Is he Emac65's younger brother? :Diain1775Free Memberbelieve the going rate for ad-hoc guiding is a cuppa and/or bacon butty at Spring Slade cafe…
no point going over that way, there is nothing of interest for bikers behind there
No honestly, there isnt anymore RIP King WillyTownfox – Monkey splits from Ftd half way round and rejoins at same place
Monkey is a different league to FtD all together, much more technical and interesting, and more elevation changesIf I was you travelling that far and to make a day of it, without knowing the unofficial trails I would park at Marquis Drive (bear with me) and pick up the last section of FtD back to Birches Valley, then continue FtD round to Monkey,
do Monkey as far as the seating area at Lower Cliffe,
then head from there to Style Cop for a play on the D/H area (with back to bench go to fireroad, slightly to left is a bit of a clearing, follow the clearing down the hill, turn slightly right – there is the bottom of the downhill runs)
When youve had enough retrace your steps and continue with Monkey and end of FtD back past car, do the last section (that you started with) again to end at Birches Valley for coffee shop and bike shop. From there it is fireroad straight back to the car at MD
Doing it this way you get the last FtD section twice at start and end which is worth it as its prob the only decent bit of FtD(oh and on Monkey when you cross railway please wheel not ride across the railway and look out for the right turn infront of the building (pumping house) after the road crossing – thats the strat proper of monkey and alot of people go straight on and miss it
iain1775Free Memberyeah MD cafe is better than Birches Valley
By aware though parking is only free if you park on the verge – the proper carpark is £2 I think, still cheaper though than BViain1775Free Membershow me that with a cracked commencal…
you wouldnt because it wouldnt be needed – from what I saw (alot) the vast majority of cracks never developed past a hairline weld fracture, they where largely still okay to ride, and some still are being riden
And Commencal / Madison where more than reasonable with their waranty process, I know of several that where either out of warranty or abused and still got swopped (pics of a Meta 5 going off an 12' drop a few months before the owner found a hairline crack for example)iain1775Free Membernow all you need to do is fashion yourself a new bottom bracket, that one looks a little rusty ;)
iain1775Free Memberexcellent
I'll arrange my own courier though ;)
How you want paying the £10, paypal gift okay?iain1775Free Memberdefinately Whites
The Wall is 60-70% fireroad, most fireroad of any centre Ive done, found it very boring apart from last two sectionsNever seen much point in blasting round as fast as possible, slow down, head up, enjoy the scenery and the social side of the sport. That to me is what its about
if you want a fast fitness blast, get a road bike or turbo trainer ;)iain1775Free Memberwent last wed evening whilst passing down the M6
thought it was great, good variety lots of fun will definately be backiain1775Free Memberdifferent places, both have different things to offer but both alot of fun
if its windy i would head cannock as lee is quite exposediain1775Free MemberIt's equally possible to cycle with an aquarium on your rack without spilling too many fish
Not recomended for tropical fish. They will get cold unless you can rig up some heat transfer device between brakes and tank
Back to the OP, definately too young, enjoy your rides on your own for now, whilst you still can
I bought a childs trailer from the classifieds on here yesterday, my daughter is 3 months old at present. Soon as I got home the trailer was put in the loft and will not come out for about another 6 months at least (and probably until next Spring when it is warmer again). But at least Im prepared and have a 'big occasion' to look forwared toiain1775Free Memberdont Osprey packs have a magnetic clip, dunno what bladders are in them?
iain1775Free Memberthink Uberbike is sommat to do with 'Valleydaddy' on here
He responded to my clasifieds plea for some old reflectors last week and posted some out FOC which was very kind so thanks to him
when they came there was an Uberbike business card in the envelope, it worked I have the site bookmarked and will try theri brake pads next time I need replacementsiain1775Free Memberdont care what music they play I still think Ferne Cotton should be inhumanely put to sleep by means of a large industrial kitchen appliance of some description
Most annoying person on TV/radio/the planet in generaliain1775Free MemberFerne Cotton needs her face ramming into a mincing machine and feeding to fatty Moyles
Even then I doubt she would shut up with her annoying droneiain1775Free Memberyeah got two the other week, came with a free lollipop and set of pedros tyre levers. Very unexpected and pleasant free gift
Where too big though so returned for an exchange but not yet had confirmation that they have recieved them back
Oi Spokey-dokey-blokey? :-)
You had a 'pub' and a 'take it up the berm girl' TShirt in Large returned yet?
I tried calling twice t'other day and emailing last week but no responseiain1775Free Member2nd fbk and Misstricky
Petplan, not the cheapest but always pay out and its a life policy
costs around £30pm for the dog, policy cost hasnt incresased any more than 50p a year over 7 years despite several significant claims nearly every yearbr and cougar obviously never had a lab with a snapped cruciate ligament (£2.5k titanium plates and ongoing arthritus) and a heart murmur or a horse with colic (even the cost of putting a horse to sleep and subsequent disposal can be astonomical compared to cost of insurance)
Pet insurance is the only one I have actually ever used, and its been worth its weight in gold (around £2500 paid over 7 years and well over £4k in claims settled no questions)
In my opinion not insuring a horse is somewhat irresponsible, should be insured for 3rd party / public liability costs at very least if you are taking them in public. A bike is debateable, it (largely) only does what the rider dictates, a horse (or a dog for that matter) is somewhat less predictableiain1775Free Membermonkster im away with work at moment but if you email me I can send you over that route and some others as memory map or google earth overlays when I get back
I live in Derby so happy to help you out with route ideasiain1775Free MemberTicknall route is good
Is also on the Trail guide on this site – search east midlandsColeman's route also worth a ride, the road climb up to Hazelwood is a drag
Drum Hill (after going under A38 is worth 20 minutes for a plauy around, there may be a few trails in there (depending on how active the locals have been in rebuilding them after the local resident knocks it all down)
At Breadsall if you turn left at the church towards Morley and look for a bridleway at bottom of hill on your right you can take the new Sustrans Great Northern Greenway back to Derby rather than taking the road. It ends up at the same placeiain1775Free MemberDez
that was what I was thinking
if I delete the database file and let the new install of itunes create a new one though will I then just get a load of messages saying I cant play aload of the stuff that was bought (legally) off itunes store, as its not licensed for use on new computer (there are some albums that have now been passed between the various computers and harddrives I have had over the last 10 or so years)or am I getting totally confused now?
iain1775Free MemberDezB, thats exactly what I did
first time when I just installed itunes and it went off and did its search I got all music on the entire computer (incl the wifes seperate libary)
so I did above and now just have my libary, but 2 or 3 times over?!?!?Scotia
music is now on hardrive of new computer, and itunes is pointing to that folder
my music folder is about 70gb, which is in line with what I had on my ipod previously. Now though cause I have 2 or 3 times the same songs showing on itunes the libary is about 160gbiain1775Free MemberTerrahawk
Im pretty sure from memory the sizing on the Ti is different to the normal Flame
I think sizing is similar to other bikes in the Commie range in that it is a S/M and a L/XL
maybe give Freeflow a call to check
Failing that Steve B at Real Cycles http://www.realcycles.com has the Ti Commie in the sale (although not as cheap) give him a call he will definately know, he is Commencal guru!!
