I used some 6 months out of date the other week and Im still here

I did have a rubbish ride and vomitted at the top of the first hill though
…..but that was possibly related to the previous evenings beer and that mornings greasy breakfast 😆

I found a can of Relentless that is out of date in the fridge the other day too, not sure I’ll risk that one

dazh – freeride wasnt open on Saturday, no

Rorschach – spam, why? Its my opinion and Im interested to see what other people think. Is that not the whole purpose of a forum?
Personally I find GT a little over-rated, although Im up there this weekend so will be able to compare the two with each still fresh in my mind

The rock bit was a bit slippy, I went off on the 2nd little drop off on it, messed it up a little, fork compressed and front wheel washed out, only a grazed elbow though so nowt serious. Was on 100mm hardtail, would like to try it again on the full suss though reckon it would be even more fun

yes bits are samey but it flows and you could hit it at whatever speed feels comfortable with
I find most trail centres are samey in sections, there is only so much you can artifically build in after all.

the city centre shop has always been there, has seen many others come and go
Used to call in all the time when I was at Uni (which was 1993) and often just hang around chatting, they where quite knowlegable at the time and once helped me build my own wheel, lent me tools etc which was nice (wheel is still going too :))but this was before big specialist MTB shops really took off, they are more an all round good old fashioned bike shop serving all sorts of cyclists from commuters to kids bikes and higher end stuff
Not been in recently, have no real reason to head that side of Nottingham any more but the fact they are still going in what must be an expensive city centre location (next to train station) with Evans etc all now opened up down the road prob speaks volumes
I don’t know about their online service but I would say reputable enough to not worry

can you discuss the pros and cons of regreasing bearings and the differences between cheap Chinese ones and other makes in a grown up and intelligent manner without resorting to insults and allegations over on Bike Radar?

    No?

    Thought not

My concern with all these costs is that I honestly don’t know how in a few months any government can decide where savings can be made with minimal impact on services.

    well said that man

I wasn’t encouraged into cycling by a quango

My first bike was a Raleigh Quango 😆

Seriously though my town city Derby is a cycling demonstation town, Ive seen nothing change from before, this is the town where police went out of their way to stop cyclists who where pushing their bikes through the pedestrian area (because there is no sensible alternative route at the moment with roadworks everywhere) and warn them not to mount their bikes and its people, based on several recent newspaper articles would rather see all ‘lycra clad louts’ ‘strung up by their toeclips’ or ‘decapitated with cheesewire strung between two lampposts’
If that is the main thing that Cycling England brought then it maybe is no huge loss as from my expereince once they dished out the funds, clueless local councils just lost or wasted it anyway. The funds would have been better given to Sustrans or similar to control who have done far more in the last 10 years or so to encourage cycling

got a few in Perth tesco last year, they had them at £2 for some reason
One has survived winter on the bike, another a winter strapped to the dogs collar so I can see her in the park when its dark, she likes paddling in puddles and has taken it for a quick dip in a stream – there is no sterner test than that
    top value

both pretty good in Rome and often have cheap deals on
Not exactly near the station (which is a sh*thole area) but very close to Vatican and a short walk to Ottaviano Metro station for direct link to Termini
Far more convienient for nice restaurants etc too (just round corner from Atlante Garden on Via Propozerio is an excellent little family run Taverna)
(put it this way, in Rome rush hour from leaving the hotel to getting in the Colosseum was about 25 minutes)

As for Naples, can’t help there much, we czught the train out and stayed in Sorrento, catching train back into Naples etc

    full outer cable routing
    post mount rear disc mount
    adjustable wheelbase
    maxle dropouts (or swappable)
    ISCG tabs
capable of running a 140 fork with tapered headtube so its adaptable / future proof
    forward facing seat clamp
sensible seat tube diameter, none of this 27.2mm
cable routing for a dropper post, but bolted on (like a Ragley) not brazed so if not using one the tubes are neater (ie they supply two sets of bolt on bosses, one for just brake and gear, one for brake, gear and seatpost remote and you bolt on whichever you need)
    good mud clearance
custom laser etched graphics and my own designed metal head badge

    oh and Titanium

never had any real issues with Samways (other than often being fully booked up for any major service works)
    cheaper than leisure lakes too
The bike shop on Monk street however is diabolical!
Dont often use shops for servicing but if I do I now tend to go to Sherwood Pines cycles, bit far but worth it for the excellent service

if its there it has to work
I was pulled over at traffic lights and given a friendly warning by a friendly policeman once because my bike rack was obscuring mine – its one of those high racks delibrately so it doesnt obscure the main lights!

the helicopter will likely cost about £1200 an hour, is capable of lifting a tonne of rock at a time and probably has a turnaround time of about 8 minutes depending on where its getting stone to and from
So assuming 5 hours of flying time a day (to allow for refueling, weather delays etc) it will shift 37-38tonnes of stone a day at a cost of around £160 a tonne, or £6k per day

Not cheap this trail building lark is it!!

Possibly a daft question but whats it like in winter, frost etc?

    The helicopter?
They use antifreeze and have to de-ice the windscreen with a credit card
