well I managed to fit them to helmet
Removed the half clamps that go around the bars and screwed the lights directly onto a strip of plastic I found in the shed, couple of grooves cut in the plastic to take the O-Ring and wrapped that around a vent on helmet, run cable under helmet between the shell and liner padding and fitted battery to back with velcro
Not too heavy – battery balances out lights, point perfectly at right angle in front and really solid and looks really tidy, minimal cables on show, 30 second job to fit and remove too
Big test will be on Tuesday nightiain1775Free MemberI like tha Asda ones you get made up while you wait
Although all supermarket pizzas are genrally pretty rubbishiain1775Free MemberI dont work at Rolls on Raynesway though, yeah they are strange. Dont seem to understand indicator lights on their cars either 😉
But then we trust them to build nuclear reactors for submarines! – scary!
No Im a few companies further down from Rolls on the same side – at the really strange place 😀
Definately give us a shout whenever, there is a few on here work Derby way – Ive sold some pedals to a guy that works at Rolls on Raynesway and commutes by train/bike from Sheffield way, forget his name now thoughiain1775Free MemberI got 2 that look very similar to that about 4 years ago, they where about £4 each icluding 4 AAA batteries
As a general / camping torch they are quite bright, as a light for riding with, completely useless
I wouldnt pay £10 for one, much better available cheaperiain1775Free Memberlooks like Troutie decapitated Number 5 the Short Circuit robot and shaved his eyebrows
iain1775Free MemberI’ll never forget Tiff punting Mansell into the bridge parapet at the Old Hairpin at Donington in a Touring Car race. He had been pecking away for a couple of laps, was never getting past and just bosh away you go there (old Man)sell how’d you fancy a stiff neck in the morning
Class bit of driving that was 🙂iain1775Free MemberTheArtistFormerlyKnownAsSTR – Member
Sheffield and it’s surrounding areas pwns anything available round Derbywell obviously, but thats not what Pook was asking is it?
iain1775Free MemberPook from Moor Lane its a very short road blast round the Royce site onto Victory Road and Wilmore Road to pick up bridleway across Sinfin Moor. Joind the Trent and Mersey canal at Swarkestone then it a short road section to Ingelby or Stanton by Bridge and you can pick up the Ticknall route thats on on the STW route guide
its not the most technical but is a good fast blast and a decent length after work. There would also be the option to just play around in Robin Woods
Closer to site there is the Championship grade BMX track in Alvaston Park (reachable by Sustrans route 6 from Osmaston Road)
or you could head along the river and up towards Dale Abbey, Drum Hill Way, or there is a route out North West taking in Markeaton Park, Kedleston, Muggington, Langley Common etc but both those involve some road work
The best biking is as others said round Belper, Ambergate but there is definately opportunity for you to ride straight from work
I live in Derby and work on Raynesway. Happy to show you round some timeiain1775Free MemberThe BIK percentages and the fact that it is worked out from the new price of the car means that anything expensive when new is going to cost you a fortune every month, even if you go second hand when you actually buy it
Im not sure many companies would go for a 2nd hand car on a company car scehem would they?
iain1775Free Membercracking issues all gone for 2010 and 2011
New factory building them and improved quality control
So long as you dont get a 2009 you will be okay
Although having said that the cracks in 2009 only mainly affected the Meta 5’s there was only a handful of 4’s with problems and from what Ive seen some of them where from lets say ‘over-riding’iain1775Free Memberhe’s shorter than me by about 5 inches but broader and overweight
I may be a bit short but Im not overweight. 😉
iain1775Free Memberthe cheaper, simpler less engineered without OTT annoying to fit and remove seatpost clamp option

Where have you got the specs for this light
No way is it 720 lumensBike Radar article, have to admit I wondered about that I think they mean 240 lumen total not each led
Still I suppose you could mount it at the front for that “speeding through the forests of hell” feeling

My dads mate used to build the original interceptorsYour mate is Richard Hammond?
Thats where his dad worked or something innit?iain1775Free MemberKael –
Meta – 9 months including some pretty horrible mud and snow and still going like new (although I gave up trying to fit the main pivot bearings so they are still sat in the shed and original outer ones where re packed with grease)
Stumpjumper – Brother in Law stripped and changed bearings no problems but only been out on it a couple of times so far
Regards the original thread that didnt need bringing back up. Yes bullyboy STW tactics, Kael to be fair tried to give as good as he got but when its the STW massive against one he didnt stand much of a chance. I originally thought he ccame across very badly and sounded like a bit of an idiot, I’ll be honest. But since speaking to him myself outside of STW I now realise he is actually just a nice hardworking guy with a passion, and that shouldnt be knocked
Try his bearings, they are equal to anything else out there but cheaper, thats all that needs saying really. None of this theory b0ll0cks, this is better than that etc. if something is cheap, does the job and is offered with A1 customer service what more do you need?iain1775Free Member+1 for KaTec, I was sceptical at first but the product is good, service absolutely first class (Ive had a set in my Meta and in brother’s Stumpjumper) and he doesnt even spout that much bollocks on here any more 😉 (oh hello Kael, didnt see you up there 😆 )
iain1775Free Memberits a £4k limit to not be a declared item, they will cover over just have to declare it (most places are £1-1.5k)
Just switched from Halifax to M&S and saved £164 a year and have better coverage on everything but especially my bikes!
My buildings and contents combined is now £35 a month sounds like similar cover to poster above – away from home, accidental damage, emergency call out, legal fees and protected no claims etciain1775Free MemberBBC news were just at Whinlatter interviewing a ‘mountain biker’.
Was he the one on last week saying if the forest was sold there would be nowhere round there to ride?
Duh Hello your in the Lake District, Natures biggest trailcentre!Still at lest its getting coverage
Consultation filled in, pretty much same as pjt201 but added that if sold there should be a clause that they can charge a maximum for parking / access and promise to feed a certain percentage of profit back into schemes to improve access for all / better trails / paths etc
If its already decided we can at least try and influence what the new owners can and cant doiain1775Free Memberwhich maps do you have?
maps are always useful to have and after all rights of way dont tend to change very much in 5 years (famous last words!) – post a list in classifieds i might be interested in someiain1775Free Memberwithout modifying them Rusty is both on helmet or none, Y lead straight from lights to battery connector, to to away with one light would need opening the other up and moddingthe cable, dont want to do that as I would rather keep them intact and use for commuting etc
its no prob if they are no good with the new light 1100 lumen is way more than enough on its own when Ive been getting by with 300 until now!useful info about chargers though, that could have saved me some money if I knew that yesterday 🙄
iain1775Free MemberMinewts on helmet would I agree be the best option but mounting may be tricky as there is two seperate lamp units. I’ll see what the helmet mount that comes with the Fireball is like as they both attach with O rings similar to Fireball, maybe it will be long enough to secure both lamp units next to each other, but I don’t think so
Spokebloke do you reckon you will get them to me by weekend? (No probs if not, would just be nice)
iain1775Free Memberyep dont work with me on works laptop either – means I just missed out on the cheap wingnuts 🙁
Dont suppose you have any more at a knock down price if I combined with one of those lights?iain1775Free Memberyep crazy legs, thats what I assumed from looking here – http://www.zanibike.net/motore.aspx?quanti=20&ID=1&da=az&come=af&lingua=eng&commenti=False
iain1775Free MemberOut of interest what would the climb up the back of Mam Tor (from edale direction) be classsed as?
iain1775Free MemberLoco?
but I just go to Dale at Sherwood Pines Cycles – £60/65 for shock or forkiain1775Free Membermy hand is on the end of my wrist

nice watches though 😉iain1775Free Memberouch
Yep your going to have an expensive bill
My lab did hers a couple of years ago, twisted jumping off a wall
We didnt realise as she seemed to initially run it off but months later she was still stiff and in pain occasionally (in the meantime she had been up Snowdon and done all sorts of stuff she shouldnt have)
Ended up with titanium plates and screws inserted. Vets bill was in excess of £2.5k, but again that was the best Ortho vet in Derbyshire (and worth every penny, couldnt have seen the poor girl suffer any more) we where offered a cheaper solution (was about 4 years ago now so I forget the technical details) but we where told it had a much lower success rate
She now suffers through cold weather with quite bad arthritus as a result of the delay in getting her operated on and is still limited to what exercise we can do with her (fine for 5-8mile walks any longer or any rocky hilly bits and she struggles) but its all side effects of her not getting treated quick enough, the actual cruciate is fine nowWe give her some tablets for 5 months of the year now for the arthritus and her joints, originally from the vet but we now get the human version from local chemist/supermarket, they are identical, and same strength just a fraction of the price – I’ll try and find out what they are called, they really make a noticeable difference through the winter
BTW – Additional costs because I got “Titanium envy” and had to buy a titanium frame to match the hound was another £1.5k 🙂
Luckily we did have insurance, its the only policy that has ever been worth its costs in pay outs, what with her being quite accident prone and also having an undiagnioseable for some time slight heart murmor (prob cost us £2.5k over 7 years and has paid out easily more than £4k in vets bills over the years!)
I hope all goes well, be sure to let us know how you get on, and post some pics of the dog when recovered. We like dog pics on STW 🙂
iain1775Free Memberwhich one Pook, there are several (and several of them have several sites)
Toyota, Bombardier, Rolls Royce etc?
Im in Derby happy to fire some local routes (memory map) across if you want – if you let me know where your based I can advise on how to get straight out on the bike from your workplace, Derby is pretty well served by Sustrans routes and bridleways to link to decent enough blasts around Ticknall, Belper, Foremark, Kedleston, Osmaaston Park etciain1775Free Membergot my on one nobbys last week – OEM no box still exactly the same tyre though, and saves me filling the recycling with pointless packaging
Go for the snakeskin 2.4 versioniain1775Free MemberMrGrim,
If your in Scotland and its the climbing / rigging type experience your after does it have to be telecoms?
Have you considered a linesman role on the OHL power side?
plenty of work coming off in Scotland over the next 5 years, feel free to drop me your CV I can forward it on to a few people at various companiesiain1775Free MemberI used to work on that side of the company but been on the Transmission side now for several years
Have 15 years experience, rigging and management what you want to know?
I would get your CV across to some of the bigger companies if you after a job, they can offer you the training etc, most if not all of it at my current and previous place was carried out in houseFirestarter – where did you work?
iain1775Free MemberI can get a pint for £1.70 in my local
Although a decent pint is nearer £2.40
