Never has a thread been more likely to go off on a tangent than now…..
(book marked for reading in a couple of days time)iain1775Free MemberMy ’96 steel voodoo is still the best bike I’ve owned and still gets taken out regular
If I needed a new bike I would have no second thoughts about getting a voodoo excellent value for money and at that level no problem with halfords as if needed I would strip down and rebuild it. Where I do have issues with halfords is when people with no bike experience get talked into buying badly set up junk
But these days better that than they get an off the shelf boxed bike from the supermarket
Have to say though my local halfords is probably better stocked priced and has more experience working there than one of my LBS’siain1775Free MemberI’ve gone from camelback to evoc cc and just got a wingnut and it’s worlds apart so much more comfortable and stable and sits low so no sweaty back, I can’t recommend it enough riding yesterday was a pleasure with it I felt cooler more confident with not having a bag moving around and more comfortable
Have both a camelback lobo or an evoc cc 16 litre for sale if anyone interested?iain1775Free MemberHoping whoever it was for is okay but have to say I was surprised up there yesterday with the number of people, some on supermarket bikes but some on high end gear, that where riding without a helmet (or t shirt!) those trails are not forgiving if anything goes wrong
Apparently though this is ‘riding californian styley baby the sun is out man’ (think he was probably from Bacup and definitely missing a little something 😉 )iain1775Free Member4odd hours. Up there today lovely weather trails very very dusty but that link needs a good going over with a roller and some rain it’s lethal, like riding on marbles
iain1775Free MemberTo be fair it’s early days did they not only launch the website last week? I registered as I was curious and it seems to be taking off a bit but like others said I’m not convinced it’s cheaper yet (at least for those of us savvy enough to price heck) but maybe give it time?
Website seems pretty well set up but I’ve already marked the emails they send as spam, too many for my likingiain1775Free Memberabsolutely pee’d it down for about 8 hours solid. Was bouncing off the ground, never seen it so heavy. Ladybower is a much bigger area now, Hope and Hathersage both under water
I would avoid the area all weekend if I was you, unless you enjoy riding with a snorkle instead of a camelback
Stay away, definately stay well away. I’ll keep thelovely dry and dustytrails company on your behalf 😉iain1775Free Memberwindows where replaced by previous owners, probably about 15-18 years old now, knowing previous owners probably cheapest of the cheap at the time!
No sparrows, no kids or anything else trapped in the room!
Tried to take a pic but they dont really show up very well, just looks like we need to clean the windows 😉iain1775Free MemberMaybe not a wine tasting day but for a good wine related day out and to experience the standard of English wine – Three Choirs Vineyard, in Gloucestershire straight down M6 and M5 from Manc
http://www.three-choirs-vineyards.co.uk/‘Adopted’ the wife a vine there a few years ago
For something like £80 I think she sponsored it for a year (name plaque on some random plant, she thought it was good at least ;)) and we could visit as many times a year as we wanted for free. On first occasion we had a guided tour, wine tasting, a meal for two with a bottle of wine and some bottles to take away
Considering the (very nice) meal alone would have cost best part of £50-60 it seemed a very good deal at the time
The wine from what I recall was pretty decent but their sparkling wine was really nice, to extent we had it at our wedding a couple of years lateriain1775Free MemberYeah saw that first time I went to gt but never ridden it, looked very steep and straight though
Secrets And lies is the best ‘off piste’ I’ve ridden at gt, awesome work has gone on that trailiain1775Free MemberIf it was a BMW or an Audi then you where perfectly within your rights to move it 😉
iain1775Free MemberAgree with lodderik peppa pig is where it’s at excellent innocent and educational kids tv for all ages
Funkydunc your coming across as a complete prat 10 mins in the morning won’t do any harm in fact the colour movement and sound at that age will help their development so long of course it’s combined with more ‘traditional’ interaction the rest of the dayiain1775Free MemberEnd of skewer in a bench vice, grip wheel firmly by rim and yank upwards as hard as you can?
iain1775Free MemberI’d recommend Comrie croft near Crieff as well very short but cN do a few laps I went whilst working in perth last week and though it pretty vood
iain1775Free MemberThat bikes so ugly it evens makes me consider giving it to my wife tonight
iain1775Free Member5’10” 32″ leg and I recently tried a 2007 (i think) 54cm and thought it a touch too big for cyclocross (would have been just about okay on road)
Think Kona changed the sizing slightly though for 2010? But my gut feeling would still be that a 56cm is too big for youiain1775Free MemberLodderick there are two good things about birkenvegas
The new Chester road and the m53
Quickest ways out
Originally from prenton myself, go back quite regular but must be 15 years since I went anywhere near the centre of Birkenhead
Stairways used to be alright for a cheap night out though
To OP it’s gonna cost a fortune to get back to bromborough at night, taxis will want to drop you at tunnel exit so you may as well get night bus back to b’heas then a taxi rest of way.. Or just go to Chester instead 😉iain1775Free MemberWhy not just ask Si at progressive for his bank details rather than start a thread asking a silly question like can I pay cash into a bank!! Or it it just a way to boast that you have a load of cash to buy a new frame?
Compensating for something are we, a lack of plums maybe 😉
He’s Chesterfield / sheff area btw, I’m happy to collect the cash off you and pass it on if if simplifies things! 😉iain1775Free MemberMatthew Street then head across town to concert square area and finish in club on seal street or if it’s a nice day do in reverse as concert square has some outside bars
iain1775Free Memberwith regards criminal damage of Virgins property many years ago I had a dispute with NTL (now Virgin) which ended with me cancelling contract and OFCOM getting involved. In the end I won compensation, but whilst this was all going on I got a little angry about the situation, the red letters threatening bailiffs (I owed nothing as the service was never connected due to various issues), and the damage to brickwork on my property casued during a botched install.
I sold their digital box on ebay (to cover repair costs to my property), when their agent (big thuggish looking man who just grunted ‘NTL box’ at my wife) called we told him the situation he shugged said ‘not another one’ and left. They never chased me for returning the box again
I also dug the cable up from the garden (this was needed anyway as we where laying a new driveway and it was not buried deep enough with no slack on it to bury deeper), cut it at the boundary with the road and posted it back to them with a note explaining why and that I had no option as if it stayed on my propeerty I would have to charge them ‘rent’
They never pursued me for criminal damage or theft, in fact I actually got a nice apologising letter when OFCOM decided in my favourSo I say give them 2 weeks maximum, then rip it up and get solicitors involved to recover costs of repairs etc
Involve OFCOMM (or whatever they are called now) it takes time but in my experience they resolve thingsiain1775Free MemberOS map not a prob I have memory mAp on phone, went dunkeld a while ago when I was there last, fancied somewhere different and I’m staying between Perth and Crieff so en route to comrie think I’ll give it a go and do couple of laps if need be
iain1775Free MemberOn the A51 between Chester and Crewe
Fantastic ice cream loads of flavours, farm setting with goats and pigs to entertain the kids and fantastic huge straw sculptures in the field every year
Is a compulsory stop en route to my parents, even the dog knows when we approach and gets all excited!Eithe there or Bluebells in Spondon, Derby as recently approved by Prince Charles
3rd place goes to the ice cream place in Parkgate on the Wirraliain1775Free Membershame he went so early I thought he was here for the long haul
iain1775Free Member[list]I’ll be out +1 but not until 10.30ish
Not sure where poss Hayfield, Mount Famine, Rushup Edge, Mam Tor, Jacobs Ladder
poss Ladybower area – Hope Cross, Hagg, Lockerbrook etc
will be on a Ti Commencal hardtail and a Ti Brodie hardtailHora – Whinstone lee tor and Cut throat from above slabs to the pub was absolutely thrashed the other week, the track is just getting wider and wider, best avoided if possible at the moment is my view
iain1775Free Memberyou need one iof these – http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/13901.html
I don’t think just the USB will work (It doesnt in my Hyundai which has a similar connection) The 3.5mm goes to the audio out on the radiopn, the USB allows the radio controls to operate the ipod
(edit – cheaper here – http://www.carcables.co.uk/products/CT29IP03-iPod-Aux-Adapter-for-iPod-Cable.html)iain1775Free MemberIt’s the original monkey trail that never officially existed
iain1775Free MemberYes coffeeking it’s people that bought in the recent future 🙄
In fact people that haven’t bought anything yet but might do a week next thursdayiain1775Free MemberIt made my tyres make a high pitched squeal when they went over rocks, 😆 more off-putting than a hope hub
iain1775Free MemberI didnt get done (as I spotted the bikeradar thread early on and posted here)
No £30 voucher
Wouldnt weant one anyway as I just saved over £30 on CRC prices anyway by using Rosebikes in Germany
and it was delivered in 2 days by parcelforce, in sensible sized packaging
Im happy to use CRC via paypal whenever but this opened my eyes to other retailers. The internet bike retail world has not been standing still during CRC’s rise to domination
Yes CRC may be cheapest for alot of things still, but not everything, and the hassle of the large packaging for me delays delivery by 3-4 days as I have to get to the main sorting office to collect the parceliain1775Free Memberanyone affected who recieved a £30 voucher and only realised the link with CRC through the earlier thread should donate the voucher to me for alerting them to it 😉
iain1775Free MemberNeither
Do the Ticknall ride that is on the trail guide section on here http://www.singletrackworld.com/trailguide/uk/east-midlands/east-midlands/
Its singlespeed’able easy
You could even do it as part of a big 70km loop from centre of Derby that goes past the BMX track (Sustrans route 54 out towards Burton then Trent and Mersey canal to Swarkestone, Ticknall ride, Sustrans route 6 back to Derby via Alvaston)
The BMX track will be packed full of little scotes on a Saturday, likewise Cannock just slightly bigger scrotes 🙂
Alternatevely plenty riding to the north from Derby centre through Kedleston, Muggington to Chevin, Belper, Shining Cliffe, Drum Hill etc, (again all singlespeed compatible, with few testing ‘slopes’ on route)iain1775Free Memberpresta or schreader?
What size tube?
😀
You cant do a psa and miss out vital informationiain1775Free MemberMaxle was the best upgrade I made to my Meta
You will need a bottom bracket mounted chain device as no ISCG tabs on the 5
Quite a few of my mates run chain devices so loads of threads on them over on http://www.commencalownersclub.comiain1775Free Memberi phoned to check this before taking out my policy as I sometimes leave the bike in the car boot all be it chained to the three Isofix anchors and not on show at all
M&S said thats fine away from home and still covered
And no there is nothing to send them unless its worth more than £4k as their single item limit is £4k
Regards at your house they are covered so long as they are within the ‘boundary of your property’ nothing about having to be locked inside a brick building like others specifyiain1775Free Membersurely we are not talking about ‘Specialised Bike Rider’ magazine here?
I always thought they where completely impartial, it was just coincidence that everything Specialised turn out gets 5/5 in the magazine that has carried a Specialised advert on the back page since around issue 1
