The Roaches may be a bit further away than your looking but stayed here the other weekend
Lovely little campsite, superb location in middle of nowhere but pub a miles walk down the road and IMO one of the nicest and quietest parks of the PDNP

Marin Rock Springs, 2004 model I think
Always felt like I was perched on top of it and along for the ride rather than actually in control
It was my first full suss and a reintroduction to MTB after a few years with minimal riding so it served a purpose and instead of putting me off completely led to buying a Commencal Meta 5

1989 Raleigh Discovery,200GS Biopace gears, was my 14th birthday present. I replaced every single part on it over the years and it saw me through until my 21st birthday in 1996 when I got the one of the first Joe Murray built Voodoo’s to hit UK shores and ported alll the components over before starting the upgrade cycle again
Still got and ride the Voodoo
In tradition of marking birthdays with new steel framed bikes I bought myself a Cotic BFe for my 40th

Flew into Palma (Majorca) earlier this week, same day that photo was on the Mail and Sun front pages of ‘passport control chaos’ (clearly Palma airport as you cross a glass bridge just before immigration)
Flew through only a queue of about 6 people in front of us despite only 2 immigration officers open and flights from easy Mids Manchester Birmingham and Stanstesd all landing within an hour of each other (judging by the luggage carousels)
Hopefully returning will be similar but will get there early, won’t be leaving it to chance
Leaving UK was fine (East Mids) once we got past usual Ryanair bag check in chaos

Probably should have mentioned this was launching to me when I called the other week to cancel citing lack of any loyalty discounts and paying well over the odds for a basic superseded package with broken out of date equipment
Actually looking forward to life after Sky, I might get my wife back

I was probably only a few minutes behind this, we approached as traffic briefly slowed, saw a fire ahead, it quickly got quite intense as we passed saw it was in the field I thought little of it but my work mate in the car saw two people running into the field so assumed something had happened. I just saw a van and car on hard shoulder, no obvious signs of any crash
It wasn’t raining at the time although it had been quite heavy about 30 minutes previously so road was wet but I wouldn’t describe it as hazardous driving conditions, traffic on the motorway was light, perfectly straight bit of road

No idea how he could end up where he did given the conditions, but I don’t recall a black Ferrari passing us in the moments before so suspect excess speed wasn’t a contributing factor, although that’s not to say he wasn’t pulling some dickish type of move at the time or someone didn’t pull out in front and he over reacted on the brakes and lost it, basically could be anything and possibly only the driver knows why

We stayed in a little place near the place d’itlalie
Can’t recall the name but there is a few around there
Large underground public car park nearby cost 7 euros for 24 hours booked online in advance
    Tube straight into Paris
Close to the ring road so was dead easy to drive in and out
Several decent restaurants and bars around the square if you stay local

There is other posts on they PB thread (finding them is the only issue with 470 odd pages) that show various options
Cheaper than a new SS lever may be a Wolftooth ReMote to mount the existing SS lever on, I know this works as saw the pics on that thread a few months ago
I’d post pics of my set up but it’s a pita to post pics now photobucket doesn’t host

Does the Quidco thing work with Halfords Click n Collect? I have that and BCF so intend to “apply” both when picking up.

    Yes

I normally go through topcashback to get about 3.15% (or whatever it currently is)
click and collect, British cycling 10% off and pay with the credit card I have registered with quidco for another 3% (ish)
Triple stack works everytime.. and they never check my BC card, as its expired 3 months ago :)
Gutted I missed this as was away with work yesterday evening, would have picked up some Ultegra road pedals for about £54!

not quite what you are asking but page 454 of this thread shows the new reverb lever with shapeshifter, that could be an option as if your reverb is currently under bar on RHS then to switch it to under the bar on LHS (which I’m assuming you want to do if your looking at a paddle type lever as presumably your gear shifter is already on RHS) you would need a new reverb remote anyway

    https://www.pinkbike.com/forum/listcomments/?threadid=149137&pagenum=454

Personally I have both reverb original style button remote underslung on the LHS, on a matchmaker clamp with brake lever with Shapeshifter alongside, works fine, 1×11 so only my gear shifter on RHS

We went to see it in leeds, and then again the day after as it passed by the motorway. It’s weird because it’s a lot of waiting around for not that much, but it’s quite exciting.

I’d say it’s definitely worth doing, and I’ve heard it even better to watch in France than it was over here because they didn’t bring the full publicity caravan.

I saw the Buttertubs stage in Yorkshire then the final stage in Paris the same year, apart from a couple of very french brands the whole caravan was in Yorkshire (and the. Yorkshire Tea van was in Paris)
Buttertubs was an amazing atmosphere, Paris more so, we got a spot in the gardens overlooking Place d Concorde so had an elevated view, deckchairs, shade from the trees, a cheap (for Paris) bar behind us (at the funfair) and saw the riders twice per lap

Need to get my daughter a new bike as she has outgrown her Frog 16″
I’m tempted by another Frog as it’s been great but the Orbea MX20 Team is a similar weight, cheaper and just looks right

Strictly speaking unless you are a member of British Canoeing (£45 per year) then you need a license from The Canals and Rivers Trust- £4.85 for a day license – https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/boating/licensing-your-boat/choosing-and-buying-your-licence/short-term-visitor-licences
and some insurance, my house insurance would cover it

I got an Intex Explorer K2 on a whim when they where about £65 on Amazon last year
Great little thing, seems plenty sturdy, easy to inflate and tracks straight thanks to the skeg
We would, get away with 2 adults and my 7 year old in it (it’s a 2 man) but for canal trips just me with the daughter and light river work (River Trent near us) it’s great, she loves it. Picked up a cheap life jacket from Decathalon for her and I just put one oar together without the middle bit for her so it’s easier to handle
She is a very good swimmer btw (the wife is a kids swimming teacher) so I don’t have too many concerns with her around the canal
Not sure if Intex do a 3/4 man but would recommend the brand as a cheaper alternative to Sevylor etc

from marshalling last year I would say well over half of the spectators that passed me had their own beer with them
Just don’t leave litter and don’t get so pissed you think a marshals whistle is an invite to throw shapes in the middle of the track rather than cross quickly because a rider is hurtling down at speed

You will be fine for general admission, may not get on gondola but can walk up the track anyway
No need to camp at glencoe either, Glen Nevis campsite just outside Fort William normally keeps some camping spots back for people that turn up on the day, or there is ‘Wild camp’ right at the bottom of the forest road you hike up to get the the WC village that is turn up and pay on day only

Just realised I haven’t uploaded a photo to BC, so I don’t have a membership card. Has anyone ever got away with just showing it on their phone?

Last few times I just asked for the BC discount whilst still getting card out of wallet and they have applied it without even examining the card
Just as well as its expired ;)

Ortlieb micro saddle bag, mounts well away from my Reverb carries tube, tyre levers, multitool
Pump/CO2 attached to bottle cage mount
    Rest (phone,keys, cash) in pockets

Our insurance (Tesco) is about £105 a year I think, that’s the more expensive covered for life policy
Got £45 topcashback so only £60 this year
Food about £5 a week, pouches of meat from either Costco or B&M, gets through 3 pouches a day at about £3’for 12
Cat litter and dry food bought in bulk and kept in garage about £10 every month or so
Allow another couple £ a week for flea and worm treatment (every 3-6 months)
Initial costs £100 adoption fee, injections, spaying etc from RSPCA factor in a cat carrier to get them home/to from vets, bed (not that they will use it),litter tray (get a covered one to minimise smell) scratching post,food/water bowls and a few toys and your about £180-200 initial costs

ok so I have had a call this morning from Paul at Webuycycle apologising and explaining his situation, which I can understand
He is aware of this thread and also a review I placed on their Facebook page
He assures me it was a genuine mistake in the first instance, he bought the bike in good faith as a 2015 model and simply re-listed it yesterday with the re-list function on ebay
Now this has been pointed out to him he has amended the listing
I guess he has been conned by the person selling the bike initially so all he is guilty of is being a bit too trusting and relaxed in his business diligence himself

He promises me he was not trying to defraud anyone and it was a genuine mistake, I suggested a bit more diligence is needed both before he buys bikes and when he is selling them on and he accepts this and I believe his side of the story and am prepared to accept his apology and move on

He accepts his response to me on Sunday was a bit brisk and understands how it could be misconstrued but explained that he is receiving lots of calls and messages daily with offers for his listings and this is not his full time job

At the end of the day looking at other ebay completed listings it is a pretty fair price for the spec of the bike (it just wasn’t for me) given it comes with a bit more security than a normal private sale (full service, a free follow up service and a 3 month warranty backed by a shop)
Looking at the other items sold or for sale on the same ebay account it does seem to be a one off so I have no reason to doubt his side of the story and have accepted his apology and apologised myself for not taking it further with him directly myself before posting on here last night

(and yes the two businesses are linked)

Basically I guess the moral of the story is to do your research if your fishing in the 2nd hand market, buying or selling regardless of who you are dealing with

Wasn’t going to name and shame as part of this post but it’s back in ebay and still listed as an upgraded 2015 CF7.0 model

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/332223258158

Here is Canyons 2011 road bike catalogue
Same frame, same graphics, same bars, stem and all other component parts on page 60 – a 2011 CF8.0, as I pointed out to the seller
    https://issuu.com/canyon_bicycles/docs/canyon_roadbikes_2011

    Because I don’t want to
and because a comparable spec Gran Fondo would have been £400 more, with cheaper wheels and not available until 5th June or an R872 (probably a closer comparison frame wise and same wheels) would be £1974 so nearly double the price

The Source one had a good review in this months mag. Have a black one on stock order at present with Tredz.

Yep I got fed up of waiting on back order so ended up getting one cheaper from one of the German shops
    It’s great, love it
    https://www.bike24.com/p2171870.html (was only 64euros when I ordered)
Can easily carry 1.5 litres of water ,phone, keys, card, cash, zip ties, pump, small lightweight waterproof, gels or two and a multitool and stays stable with the straps (which can be a bit fussy to get on and off until your practised at it)
I stick spare tube and other bits in an Ortlieb micro saddle bag
Only thing either the source or the Ortlieb lack is a tab for clipping on a light

yeah the hill forts where a bitch, was no way anyone could ride up Hambledon Hill surely, least not on a fully loaded down bike?
Rain hit us as we entered Wareham, stuck with us all the way through the nicely exposed heaths and headlands bits, which added to the headwind, was nice

    Wild Camping at Torlundy Farm,
    Contact: Daisy Carver
    Telephone: 07909 510639

You don’t book in advance just turn up
It is usually pretty wild, they have bands playing etc its just a farmers field with a few portaloos and the year I stayed there the field got pretty wet (it was very wet in 2015 though that was the year qualifying got postponed from Saturday to Sunday morning because of the torrential rain)
Is at the bottom of the forestry track that leads directly to the world cup village so a relatively easy (uphill) 30 minute walk to the action

Stayed at Glen Nevis too, far more refined and quieter but you need to drive or cycle to the venue as its a way out the other side of FW (traffic is a nightmare through town). I would be very surprised if they are fully booked I thought they held a decent number of pitches back for ‘pay on the day’ arrivals
