If I’m in the hills I’m happy with adding gaiters, just CBA for the school run.

Just coming in with another +1 on the air suspension. 5 series estates all have it, and some of them are euro 6 pre 2016 (do check though. Same for some Passat engines).

Top tube, not down tube in the OP (and most reaponses)

King cage on my starling, mount under the top tube. Nice and tight without a strap but I can pull it out when needed.

You’re not going to get a terrestrial-esque EPG (TV guide) without an aerial or a dish, to my knowledge.

You can get this, it’s how BT deliver their TV these days if you don’t have an antenna, including terrestrial (but you need their service, and have to use one of their TV boxes and router, you can’t swap for a 3rd party one).

The GitHub link above has the streams though if you’ve an app or whatever that’ll parse the playlist/page.

Bru and a supper, good stuff.

Maybe a red kola if you want to mix things up.

    salt and sauce of course.

Exif data on old photos has long gone after being stored on multiple devices so they’re showing as new.

exif data is in the file itself, not metadata of the file. So if it was there it shouldn’t be gone. Look at the file info to check it.

If you have a recent import of old correctly dated photos they’ll show as recent in the “recents” album but in the correct place if you browse all photos in the library tab on iOS.

For that money, I’d want it to have an easily replaceable battery.

i mean to be fair, it’s easy, any apple shop will do it, it’s just not cheap (just checked, £95 for an ultra).

refurb ultras are a lot closer to regular Apple Watch money, especially if you’re considering cell anyway. More than twice the battery life IME too, and much more usable for offline/online mapping (I use workoutdoors).

Seatpost. On any bike. Very occasionally top tube loosely if I’m eg fitting a dropper.

you might damage the frame directly with the clamp, also if you knock the whole thing over less likely to break something.

There are two ultra specific faces and the one you show is one of them.

I had a new year resolution last year to attempt to reduce the “strategic tyre stockpile”… I’ve not added to it at least…

Have had a few devices from music magpie.

All been good and as described expect one that had an issue with the camera but they sorted a return and refunded me with no hassles at all.

+1 on the above. Until you put a hanger tool on it you can’t know it’s straight and literally no new bike I’ve ever checked has been straight. Mattered less on 9 speed, only a little on 10 but 11+ seems to matter.

FWIW I got my rudys cheap enough on a bike I was planning  to give them a go then swap them for rigid as I didn’t really “get” them before I rode them.

I kinda like them on the road too, as they make bad tarmac more bearable and unexpected potholes less of an issue. They feel like a big mtb tyre soft level of squish without the squirm if that makes sense?

I’ve got a rudy, and another bike with SIDs. They’re both great but very different forks. Rudy is more like a bit of comfort than suspension proper, you run them at 5% sag (1.5mm) and only 30mm travel.

For bike packing you can’t put a rack on either, for gravel I have and would prefer rudy as the Sid is a MTB fork for MTB…

Genesis do something like the cascade don’t they?

If you have a waterproof or long sleeves on it’ll touch things on the screen cos of the damp from sweat etc. as above put the water lock on.

Been using Strava watch app for years since series 1, no problems.

Battery life wise – it’s a device you’re expected to charge daily like a phone.

I just made a bunch for our bikes out of wood. And put castors on the bottom, so you can easily shuffle the bikes around to get them in and out but keep them tidied away in a compact space.

Made my own as I wanted a particular design so that I could use them for bikes with full guards, and those bikes can also keep front wheel on, wheel in backward and pivot up (bit like a bike nook stand) so it was low effort for my wife. No need to strap the wheel either as I have uprights made to catch the bars.

The less frequently used bikes are held by the front axle with the front wheel hanging off the side of the frame so I can fit more closer together.

Win wing and either gravel hugger or rudy specific guard depending on the bike.

I got a genesis CDA20 for that kinda money (750 iirc).

Nice to ride, worst bit about the spec is heavy wheels. Brakes aren’t brilliant but are fine once they bed in and you need to spend a lot more to get onto hydraulics.

If you have some old non boost qr 29er wheels knocking about (I did) then with the wheel upgrade it’s really quite capable.

    Another big SS lover here.

    > Never tried it, but it’s flat where I ride.

Though as above somewhere, flat is the worst! Downhill you can freewheel, uphill you can grind away or if it’s steep stand up get your sex face on and get it done.

Flat you spin at a thousand rpm and your legs burn… and you still feel slow.

Which width Edge AL is everyone using and with what tyres?

What size sprocket/chainring are you running and what does it compare too?

Also any more close ups of how it mounts etc?

    Inside the headtube I reckon.

Makes sense I didn’t use them, the frame in question already had a 200mm headtube without making it even taller!

This makes sense however. Presumably came with my Trance.

Anyway, guess I can get rid. Or post them to RustyNissanPrairie, they’re to date unused 😳

Can’t find any pics of them in reference to giant though.

FSA headset makes sense but they’ve obviously never been in a bike so some non essential part?

    IA

Hitension online seems to be the winner! Though I don’t know where they go in the headset.

    Though possibly as orangeboy says.

I have owned both Giant frames and FSA headsets (not 1” ones tho)

All my headset spares are in a different place.

Also in the box were some old chain devices (not part of them), some deore octalink cranks, some bar tape, flat pedals, couple bash guards, some half dead original generation sram X0 kit, some road bike pads.

Don’t know any of that is a clue or related though. Doing my head in, I’m normally great at identifying random bits!

Not disc spacers, my fancy wheels are all 6 bolt.

Spacers to fit bells or bars – good suggestion but I’ve slid them over some 31.8 bars to see and even closing the gap tight they’re not anywhere near clamping the bar. Maybe about 33/34mm ID closed up? I’ll get some callipers on them tomorrow.

Not a HG lock ring, way too big. It’d be loose on the cassette body.

Don’t think they’re fork bushings. Made of alu.

BB related? Maaybe but don’t think I’ve had anything too odd. Or anything I don’t know all the bits.

Smaller than 1.5, I _did_ have a giant trance frame and giant were into 1 1/4 for a bit, hmmmm could be related to that.

Or some sort of headset part, can’t think what for though. Maybe each 5mm thick?

They’re all better tyres than ardents IMO.

Ardents are neither grippy or fast, ardent races OTOH are a much better tyre. Much faster than an ardent and don’t seem to give up much/any grip (which is somewhat damning with faint praise mind, but more grip than an ikon).

Whats up with the Forekaster that you’d want to swap it out?

for me it’s that a Forekaster is slow in summer. It’s a mud tyre really. Forekaster squirms a bit more too and is less good on rocks.

Nothing “wrong” with it but I enjoy a fast tyre when conditions permit, and then some spicy handling when they don’t but I’ve not changed back yet.

    IA

I run forekasters (or with a beaver rear) in the winter then swap to a pair of ardent race in summer.

Oddly a much better tyre than a regular ardent which is neither fast nor grippy. The AR isn’t grippy but it’s fast.

It’s a bit tougher and a bit more grip than a crossmark or ikon though which would be my usual fast summer go to.

Rather than inward opening, what about sash windows?

Curious to the blind question too though, would love them on a (future) house.

My Genesis CDA is QR rear as are some CDF. Obviously you can run whatever forks you want.

now, this is very niche but I’m in a safe space right?…

Escorpion here too, just as long if not slightly longer bike as above can confirm it’s ace. I find the folding really useful for storage and lugging about.

Sometimes eg when away for a week it’s nice to get somewhere and stuff it in the boot out the way.

I spin the bars 180 to shorten wheelbase a bit.

If you’re outside normal height or have a good idea of what you like I’m gonna suggest something I have – a custom Starling.

    Mine’s a singlespeed, but maybe a murmur?
