Not all win7 machines are netbooks.
    Some netbooks have win7.

Win7 has no bearing on the type of machine.

The above programs will work on a netbook, but be slow. Too slow? I dunno. I suspect doing graphical work on a netbook my main issue would be the lack of screen space more than anything else (10" 1024×600 or similar on most).

"all it is is a narrower gauge with loads of weight saving bits cut out of it surely."

Nope. The entire thing is milled out of one block of steel. A lot of machine time needed, on expensive machines.

Minion? You weren't thinking. As above, it's a dry tyre!

Depends where you ride. A fresh not worn HR may do the trick (inners, other steeper places).

Or if you need a mud tyre, +1 swampys.

IIRC furniture polish can also help. Prolly just do the same as GT85 tho.

    They're not joking 45Nm is 4.5kg of force on a metre long tool – that's a lot!

That bolt would appear to require a torque of "two grunts and a groan". It probably came loose.

You can get adapters so you don't need to re-wire. Or just fiddle* the existing fan connectors and run them at a set 7v or 5v to make them quieter.

As above, check the power rating of the fans, and what the mobo can take.

If you tucked trousers into your wellies, and it was wet enough to even consider this – they'd fill with water!

Wellies are an awful idea on the bike. For all the reasons above.

I don't use keynote, but I do draw a lot of diagrams. And one of the reasons I use macs is they have what's probably the best diagramming tool ever. http://www.omnigroup.com/applications/OmniGraffle/

It's pretty much dead. If you've got £100s/1000s spare, you could probably have the data recovered.

You *might* get away with swapping the controller board for an identical one, but if you've no idea what I'm on about it's not the approach for you.

tracknicko – ideally medium cage, but long would do. Or possibly a whole mech. iain.wallaceATgmail.com if anyone can help out.

My rant is more the relative cost of spares to the new price. The complete mechs are always discounted, whereas the spares aren't. So the spares cost as much as the mech (nearly). I'd far rather* repair my X0 than buy a new X9, yet it's the more expensive option.

*performance wise they're probably the same, more for reasons of avoiding unnecessary waste etc.

Cheers for that ebay link, i'll look into it.

I'm 6'4" tall. You're also tall. Face facts, to get a bike that fits, we need to ride gates.

Why not spend about £15 on a new rotor?

I'd think unless you've top spec kit you could probably save more weight elsewhere for £600.

2 bikes wheels on wouldn't fit down the gap left by one seat I don't think. Not easily anyhow. And if they did, you could just remove the single seat from the 2 +1 setup. No need for the bikes to go down the middle?

Given you can always have just one seat out the regular one, I don't see the advantage in it being the middle one? Although you can poke a wheel between the front seats, so I'll admit if you need to carry 4 people, and a tandem with the wheels on, it might be the only option ;-)

I really like the look of the 1.6HDi XTR – XTR mainly due to the individually removable rear seats

If you look at 58 models, then they had the individual rear seats as an option. I know this, as I test drove a 90hp petrol VTR one with them.

TBH, I can't think why I'd want the individual seats. I did consider it when I was buying and thought they'd be good, but now I have it, I think the only benefit would be making them a touch easier to remove.

For a mini DH bike, yeah no probs with QR, You can always run a 10mm thru axle (same dropouts) if it bothers you.

On some bikes rear maxles unscrew themselves (ask anyone with a cove!).

For a full on DH bike, no. But then no proper DH bikes are QR these days anyhow (well ok, I know my intense and any other intense could run as such, but there's no point when it takes an axle too).

Olly, is yours an XL too?

I would post mine, but I'm pretty sure the headtube's visible from space, so no need.

    Nice bikes though.

XTR pedals have a ti axle (probably don't now for the £4). Cranks are Alu. I'm guessing they were installed without proper grease, and so bonded with the cranks… schoolboy error.

I zip-tied some old tyre down my downtube to protect it from rock strikes on the top part of the mega qualifier last year.

(alu tube, on a socom, but it was taking a bit of a beating and I didn't want any dents)

Prolog is close-ish, (one of the) interpreters for the language uses prolog in the implementation.

The language is AgentSpeak(L) (technically AgentSpeak(XL) actually).

!hello is a goal, and then goals are selected according to the agent's beliefs and desires. In this case, there's only one plan, and the guard on it is simply true.

The above code would work with Jason (jason.sf.net)

No-one guessed yet? And I could have chosen more obscure languages, pah, amateurs ;-)

    IA

Hmm, how big a clue that's the question. I'll start with not so helpful one, as if it was easy, the game would be no fun ;-)

"!hello" is setting a goal to be achieved…

Of course, by "slightly obscure" it's possibly "very obscure" to folk not in my area of research. So this is likely to be more a test of google skills…

I see your slightly obscure or archaic mainstream languages, and raise you slightly obscure research languages:

    !hello.

    +!hello : true
    <- .println("hello world").

Cookie for the first one to get it…

The revenue and customs site will tell you the exact numbers, google it.

But you'll pay import duty (about 4.5% IIRC?) plus VAT (15%) plus a handling fee (£8).

My fave winter riding kit is waterproof shorts, socks and windproof gloves.

However, 2 hours isn't very long to be out, I'd not worry too much. It's when you're out all day, or somewhere remote it matters more. Just layer up, you'll be fine.

Cheapest thing that makes a nice difference is some wooly socks I reckon, will help keep your feet warm even when they get wet. I won some mediumweight north face ones once, and they've been ace cos the fit all my shoes, but are actually pretty warm.

That seems a decent route – I'd personally avoid the A68, busyish with fast traffic, and a fair bit of it's very exposed, and has blind corners and crests.

One go? Take lights. It's a good 200miles, and by any vaguely direct route will be quite hilly in the first third.

Assuming that steep bit thru the heather is where I think it is, you can avoid it.

When going up through Cardrona forest, near the top you take a left on a fireroad split to come out the bottom of that steep climb up the side of the forest/fence? just go straight on the fire-road instead, you end up with a short singletrack climb to join the forest edge track after that horrid steep bit.

Depends how you're getting to that point of course, you might not have gone up through the forest.

£40 seems reasonable for a complete set for a multi pivot bike. And presumably a multi-thousand pound bike, and you're skimping on servicing it correctly for the sake of £20?

I had to deal with Extra for an issue on my socom – and I have to say they were excellent, couldn't have been better. They really did go out their way to do everything possible to sort me out. So big up them.

However, same not to be said for CRC (who i ended up bypassing to go straight to extra), guess they're just quite busy.

And intense themselves, they must have a blind work experience boy on quality control, is all I'm saying!

I've some sennheisers as above, they're pretty good for the money- I don't think you'd be disappointed.
