without wishing to sound like a luddite, what’s the command key?

    A Mac thing?

My son is in. Mum GP, me teaching live lessons online. Wouldn’t work if he wasn’t at school and I know on effect for others kids (and thus parents) would be massive. Feel guilty every day but that emotion is my modus operandi anyway so I’m used to it.

I’ve been meditating every day since April (10 min a day with ‘waking up’ app). Would absolutely recommend it, specifically as the OP says for reducing generalized anxiety.

    Can’t see myself ever stopping.

I don’t think it’s so much a out the power in your situation but the doped of the rear wheel (or ‘wheel’ if it’s a wheel off turbo). In granny the rotation of the rear wheel is so slow for a given crank rpm I would guess it doesn’t work well with their resistance algorithm?

Ps re bikes in rooms they key thing is to have a spotless bike and not to ask…

(Or pack it in a bike bag!).

I’ve done a lot of turbos in hotel carparks, although it helped that I had a van with a tail gate to keep the any drizzle off. You obviously get a few funny looks but if your ego is strong enough to cope with that it’s certainly an option.

Other than that give it a go, as long as you’re respectful (lay down a blanket in case of dirt or something), don’t use their towels for wiping up oil and don’t do it late at night I’d go for it. One of those cases where the potential impact is minimal so better to ‘ask forgiveness than permission’?

Maybe ask for a room on the ground floor is the noise doesn’t resonate to the floor below?

I spent a bit of time analysing the two climbs for guys I coach who wanted to really go hard at it.

Ven top came out as better as the rests were longer giving more time to change shorts/admin etc. Although this only applies if your gears are small enough to spin at a comfortable cadence as it’s got steeper sections.

+1 for Altra if you’ve got wide feet. It’s probably not an understatement to say wide shoes have transformed my running. The comfort! Ironic that I didn’t even realise I was uncomfortable, I though that was just normal.

Now on wide shoes at work too, even if I do look like a 🤡!

No dildos but, like a previous poster, I had a mangled pigeon fall out of the sky and land by my feet when out running. Jumped out of my skin! I assume I must have startled a bird if prey having their lunch in a nearby tree… I had blood on my shoes.

Could have been worse though, if it had landed on my head I don’t think I’d have been very happy!

Paint is good, as long as the concrete is clean, of its had oil leaked o to it then,in my experience, the paint won’t stick properly (but perhaps my preparation was just rubbish). It also chips if you drop something heavy and metal on it.

Having said that it’s cheap and quick (half a day plus a day drying when it warm!). I re did the dodgy bits of mine every couple years (30 min job) and it’s the approach I’d take again, assuming I couldn’t afford epoxy (which I know nothing about…)

Yup, as above white emulsion for the blockwork walls. I didn’t realize until after the first wall what a massive difference a specific blockwork roller makes. Get the widest one you can find.

In my old (ex-wifes) house we had a hot water tap outside by a soakway. Probably the best thing I’d ever done, transformed the end of a winter’s ride or run.

Yup, couldn’t agree more. Ironically the days that it’s hardest to get out the door are the days I need it the most!

Floor floor floor. I know you’ve said you’re going to epoxy it but this*1000 should be the first thing you do. The minute you’ve started to put moving boxes in there you’re shafted and it’ll never happen.

I’ve on my second week of Able and Cole veg delivery (bit of an effort to reduce food miles and expand my diet away from the ‘usual’).

Need to rapidly learn red cabbage recipes!

Yup, my money is on ‘proper’ lockdown as and remote learning (for kids). The govt will go on and on about how English ‘exams will still be happening’… Then shelve them 20 minutes after the Scots do.

@kryton I swore off self-help books a few years ago and would recommend it. Internet through my phone on the other hand, if I could kick that habit I’d have enough spare time to learn Japanese calligraphy!

@colp thanks – need to set a baseline for bench, not done it properly for ages. Will report back. You sounds like at RP pro… I like the idea of a garage PC, will research.

@WCA hah – me too! Having watched some YouTube handstand videos I think I’m going to need to go slowly.

Yup, led bulb from eBay for my mini maglight. Probably wasn’t financially sensible but didn’t want to throw it away. Beam and burn time much better.

I got some pucker expensive ones from John Lewis with housewarming vouchers family gave me (I never would have stumped up so much for them without the vouchers). It’s not exaggerating to say they changed my life!

I’ll never skimp on pillows again (or a mattress or bed linen).

As far as I’m concerned the feeling after a good night’s sleep has to be one of the best, plus the extra amount if stuff I can do when I’ve slept well compared to when I’ve slept badly means I can justifiably see anything like that as ‘an investment in my personal productivity’ 🤣

    Spend the money. Sleep well.

I’ve had to go into my brain and re-wire the bit that has a mental image of Cougar so that the new image matched his ‘new’ voice. It wasn’t an easy job.

More usefully I lived out there in 1996 for 12 months as a gap year and again in 2004 for 9 months when my then g/f was working in Obs and Gynae.

    Definitely go.

The first time I was 18 so it doesn’t really count. The second time it took me 3 weeks to get a job in a cafe, 8 weeks later I got a job in a bike shop as I met a bloke on the local chaingang (that went out twice a week at 5.45 am and did the same 40km loop consisting of 4×10 km straights with 4 90 degree corners!) Then another 8 weeks to get a job in the local Uni as I met another bloke out running.

I loved it. G/f less so as the 30 years behind bit impacted her via implicit sexism pretty consistently, although this was 16 years ago. We came back as family (parents) had health issues. If I didn’t have a young son now I’d go back in a nano-second.

    Good luck!

EdiT. I do remember the paperwork for g/f was a cosmic ballache so be prepared, take multiple copies of everything.

    Tea now on phone.

No real suggestion other than to say this approach worked for me after 6 months fruitlessly asking our neighbour to stop their dog endlessly barking.

Solution, every time it barked I put Ibiza club classics on, turned it upto 11 and went for a run. Only took a week then peace was restored.

I love the full white overalls in the original film. Mine would be white for about a nano-second.

@poly exactly the same here. Don’t want to carry a phone but need to be contactable/contact others in case of emergency. In the end I got a small cheap android smartphone with a PAYG SIM and gave the number to a super limited number of people with strict instructions not to call it.

Not sure how comfortable it would be running with a phone up your bum though…
