The codeine binds to the opioid receptors in the brain blocking pain signalling. The brain makes more receptors to compensate for the block meaning that you have to take more for the same effect over time. Withdrawing the drug produces unpleasant side effects due to the excess of receptors. Codeine is chemically related to diamorphine (heroin) but is significantly less potent.

No its more like Tesco devolving purchasing to individual stores (to make them more responsive to the needs of their customers). No central strategic planning, no bulk purchasing, resulting in a worse and more expensive service.

S’not about cuts, it’s about the dim-witted idea of giving all the money to GP practices to divvy up.
Online petitions may/may not work but one e-mail/letter to your MP is weighted at about 10,000 constituents so get e-mailing if you care…

Assuming that vinyl isn’t your thing, I have recently discovered that something like this majik or this brennan[/url] is the future. An external HD with your ripped-CDs, or (God forbid) mp3s on it and a dedicated DAC amplifier combo.

how much it affects your weight will depend on whether you increase your energy intake with drinks and extra food. If you drink water on the bike and eat the same as usual, you will (almost certainly) lose weight.

I was thinking the same as monksie. Would I get by the gap jump and ‘whoo!’ every time someone jumped it, or go by the big rock drop and ‘ohh!’ every time someone dropped it? Either way it looks like a fun day out for the spectators…

+1 on the dogs and toddlers. A friend who’s a vet thinks that all prospective parents should have to train a dog first as a qualifier!
Young_Master_Dab just used to swing on the reins, so they were no use, same with a wrist strap, so firm hand/wrist holding, picking up, or push chair were the order of the day. He was/is a one man escape committee!

I did 3.57 joint 195th (56 MV40)…whoo! Better than 4.30 ish last year and a miserable 5.37 the first time. I think I’m getting the hang of it. @steve_b77 guessing it was you I chatted too – shame you did puncture.
I gave away a split link on the second south loop climb, to help a rider with a broken chain only to get it back in the queue at the cafe afterwards, what are the chances of that 🙂

Spaniels pull on the lead, it’s in their genes and part of the job description. Forget Crufts obedience and all is well.
Hide and seek is a good game. Hide yourself once you’re confident with the dog off the lead. Hide toys inside/outside.
Remember that 90% of a spaniel’s brain is devoted to it’s nose and you’ll be fine.

Everyone will recommend you the dog they have

Cocker Spaniel (English). Perfect happy, do anything, family dog. Does need grooming, but you can get them clipped.

    Well done!
The good news is that the relative risk of you dying of lung cancer due to smoking is now 3% as opposed to 18% at 75 years old if you had continued. Your body has an incredible ability to heal itself and by now you should have cleared most of the gunk from your lungs.

The cheap run bikes will do the job just as well. We have used a cheap toyshop one (borrowed) and a Norco pink one. Save the ££s for later bikes. Weight is only a factor for when you have to carry them and your bonked child home…

In any case I am asking about films not TV

Sorry, I didn’t know you were talking about cinema – Tangled or Gnomeo and Juliet would fit the bill.

…but seriously, it’s the frame rate and speed of movement that is thought to have an adverse effect on the developing brain (as well as advertising). Ours love old school stuff like Mr Ben, The Clangers and Mary Mungo and Midge. They are so much slower than the modern stuff.

None – plenty of studies are showing that TV is bad for two and unders. Read a book instead and save the films for later…

I e-mailed my MP Guy Opperman (Cons – Hexham) along with 300 others. He spoke in the house expressing reservations about the plans (biodiversity and access in particular) then hid from the whips and abstained. I’m not sure that not voting isn’t the best I can expect from a new boy in the Commons.
Apparently the National Trust have told the government not to sell the ancient woodland in Kielder and they’ve caved in. Parts was already under offer – so the equivalent acreage is being sold elsewhere! So the sell off is already happening as are huge job losses at the FC in Northumberland.

    A warning about Hexham…
It has a very good triathlon club with national level coaching and a competition standard swimming pool. If you choose to live in Hexham you may be tempted to ride on-road in a wet swimming costume… 😯

I did Tae Kwon Do. I’d agree at 8 years old the instructor is more important than the style. It needs to be fun, and safe. An emphasis on self discipline, and control would be high on my list.

Using the correct interconnects, speaker cables, stands and getting the room right is the second half of the battle. The first half is about good component matching. You need to take advice from experts and work out which kit is known to partner well.

…or buy a Linn Classic and some good speakers and stop obsessing. 😀

I always take something that sounds nasty on crap equipment but that I like e.g. Radiohead OK Computer which was unlistenable on a Rega/Cyrus system I auditioned a few years ago. Messy, horrible, all over the place – whereas on a better system you can hear every instrument properly. Enjoy…

    semi-OCD

that’s like saying someone has semi-flu. Proper OCD is a very debilitating illness. The rest is medicalising fussyness and poor people skills.

Sir Paul Nurse could start by taking some academic colleagues to task in arts subjects. Writing a well-balanced essay that considers all the evidence and comes to a reasoned conclusion is a sure fire route to a 2i mark at Oxbridge (or equivalent Uni) in an arts subject. On the otherhand, a radically controvertial essay drawing on little used sources which is strongly argued is likely to get a 1st class mark (and the author a job as a science blogger for a broadsheet).
I still don’t know how he managed to get all the way through without saying ‘postmodernism’.

If you are genuinely diagnosed OCD then you need to constantly ask yourself ‘what’s the worst that can happen if…?’ Your housemates may be just the thing to desensitise yourself once you work out that living in a messy house won’t kill you.

not be duped by scientists faking results

There have been well documented cases of faked scientific results in the last few years. Those involved, when discovered, lose their jobs, reputations and any chance of future employment whether they are a lab head or a PhD student.
To suggest that all climate change science is based on a conspiracy is a leap of faith that I can’t take, especially as the money is with the oil/coal men. It is the deniers and controversialists that I suspect are in it for the money. It has happened before, big tobacco had a coordinated campaign to confuse the public about the risks of smoking. It worked.

A friend of mine came out of a Motorhead concert with his ears bleeding back in the day. I wasn’t much of a fan then, but after hearing the Hayseed Dixies cover of the Ace of Spades, I’m more convinced that they wrote timeless classics…

A few years ago our son had a very high temperature that didn’t respond to paracetamol and no other symptoms. We were advised by our GP to take him to the hospital. A blood test confirmed a nasty bacterial infection. He was put on antibiotics before the results came in and was much better in a day or so. He slept the night covered by just a sheet with a desk fan cooling him.
Listen to your doctor – if you don’t trust them, change doctor…
