    TAFKASTR, indeed I am.
Jam bo, tow bar and bike rack would probably cost more than the car so I’m trying not to go down this route.
    Keyses2, perfect.
    Supertramp, cheers dude.
Cougar, tried that already, details plugged in and no results.

I was on 4 x 100mg a day for 3 or 4 weeks after destroying my shoulder. Mmmmmm comfortable fizzy spine. I can see why people get addicted to opiates.

Like northwind I’ve saved a couple for emergencies.

    Try your local farm shop.

Only if your farm shop is on jersey. Otherwise they would just be new potatoes.

If they don’t like Doolittle there’s no hope for them, they probably listen to ray lamontagne and david grey (note dismissive non-use of capitals).

Anyhoo I’d suggest: Primary Colours by the Horrors.

Neon green with plasma blue wheels.

It’s very bright and not for the faint hearted.

When I demoed one at Afan I was giddy with excitement about it, really confidence inspiring on fast flowing trails. Unfortunately I’ve been using my 2010 version as a mini downhill bike on the mostly technical downhills at Aston Hill and frankly after some very big crashes I’m scared witless of it. It’s completely irrational but I just can’t get on with it, probably more to do my lack of skill/balls than it being a bad bike.

It’s now sitting unused leering at me in the corner of the shed waiting to be stripped down and the frame sold on.

So to recap it’s a great bike but I’m rubbish at riding it. :(

Hah, one of my riding buddies is about 60k, I love playing the lets free wheel down this bit and see who makes it there first game – gravity in action is awesome!

Having recently lost 24kg I can assure you that any gravity based gains on the downs from being tubby are more than made up for on the uphills by being a skinny wretch.

    That’s lucky :-)

I’m planning to move into furniture design too.

That was the degree with the less than one percent chance of a job that I did. Incredibly rewarding but really difficult to get off the ground and actually make money from. I still do a bit of design on the side but only for fun these days.
Hopefully should have a shed/workshop of my own soon so I can get back to prototyping and cocking around with power tools.

I agree with Elfin. It’s about the love of learning not a specific career path.

Definitely worked for me even though I went into uni knowing that there was a less than 1% chance of me getting the specific job my course was designed for. Loved it for the learning and the life experience and I’d do it again tomorrow even knowing the costs involved and would recommend university to anyone who had a passion for a subject.

ps. Didn’t get the job at the end of it but got some lucky breaks and ended up with some similar work in architecture, which is awesome.

Broken collar bone and 3 broken ribs.
2 weeks off work feeling all fizzy from the massive amounts of tramadol i was munching down. 2 months until i was back on he roads and 4 months until I was back in the woods (after an operation to shave some excess bone off). One ruined summer  except for the feeling fizzy bit which was great fun :D

    Roughly

24lbs as a single speed with speedkings
28lbs geared with tyres that work
31lbs in its current geared, burly spec

New BFe turns up tomorrow though so it’s being retired until it can be built up as a lightweight whippet.

My left shoulder is about 20mm inboard of where it should be with a very lumpy and overlapped collar bone and 3 overlapped ribs that crunch and grate when my shoulder blade moves over the top of them. Not particularly painful or debilitating but quite annoying.

If any of them drive cars, or indeed use any motorised transport, then they’re massive hypocrites.

C02 isn’t the only thing that damages our world. On a more local scale fertilizer run off from fields clogs water courses with algae and duckweed and pesticides help to create huge mono-cultures where birds and insects find it impossible to live.

The production of cheap food on an industrial scale for the supermarkets rarely sits well with wildlife.

You’re never too old, I’m 35 and I’ve got some jeans so skinny I can hardly bend my knees. Live the shoreditch dream.

Whereas Huw and Joey are obviously skinny emo types with long fringes and drainpipes tucked into their converse

No converse here, Supra Vaider high tops in black leather. The rest is suprisingly accurate though.

Back to the original question, thisisnotaspoon can either, eat less and exercise the same, eat the same and exercise an awful lot more or eat much less and do no exercise. Each will have roughly the same result as long as you don’t have a snack after exercise “because you’ve earned it”.

how on earth can someone who’s 5’11” weigh 62kg?!

Not eating very much or excercising a lot. Not eating is far easier.

Must be a bugger not being able to go outside on a windy day.

worth a few windy days indoors for the skinnyness of the jeans I can now wear. :D

    Fatties.

5’10” and 62kg here and still carrying a little spare on the waist. Down from 85kg in October ’09, all done through a huge reduction in calorie intake.

    God I’m hungry.

You’ve all forgotten the most important bit of the shopping trip. Getting annoyed at mindless zombies milling around gawping at trinkets and useless tat and then storming off in a huff to buy a book/magazine/paper and getting royally battered in the pub before stumbling home at around 10pm to a stony faced other half.

I can’t really change the front ring to anything bigger than 32 though (stoopid middleburn) so I’m stuck at about 57″. Too spinny?

What’s the accepted thinking on gearing with offroad fixed? Will I die in a whirl of exploding legs running 32×15?
