Depends whether you want a race or a park/street bike too. If you have a local track and are going to take him/her there then a race bike will be best, but if it’s for going to the local skatepark and/or playing around on the street a park/street bike may be better.

Typically park bikes are available with 16″, 18″ and 20″ wheels, whereas race bikes mainly have 20″wheels and varying top tube lengths and handlebar heights.

Can’t get the video embedding to work, but here’s mine in action:

    Riley The Spaniel

He’s still a pup really, but he’ll do about 8 miles. Regular topping up with water is essential though!

New (on one era) El Guapo, my wife has one of the previous american made titus ones which I love so I thought I’d get myself one. Bought all new kit, put it together, absolutely hated it! Turned out it was a defective frame and I got my money back. It felt like a really expensive mistake though until it all got settled. I think the original geometry was a far better all rounder.

I’ve done the CTC trail leader and technical trail leader courses, obviously I can’t compare them to anything else, but they were both excellent and did give me some new tools to use that I hadn’t considered before for group leadership.

I’ve been leading groups for nearly 20 years, had already done my local authority course quite a few years back, so I do count myself as being pretty experienced in group scenarios, but I would say they were definitely worth doing from my perspective.

I took the CTC route and have trail leader, technical trail leader and skills instructor as well as my local authority course too. Everyone on the trail leader course was someone already working in the outdoor sector who needed it for their job. The technical trail leader was a 50 / 50 split of those and people who were ‘actual’ MTB’ers who wanted it for various reasons. Whereas the Skills course was all experienced riders who wanted to coach others.

We were told the overdraught was free and have since been charged several times. Our previous one was free, but they won’t change back so very annoying. For us it wasn’t worth the hassle.

I got knocked off by one and it broke my exposure light, I thought I’d done my collar bone too. I sent it back to Exposure with a note explaining it was badger related and they fixed it for free :-)
