He carries a lot of food! But then he goes so bloody quick he needs to keep the fuel topped up…

Mega rubber fitted to @kinesis_uk #Tripster #ATR, off out to Stanmer Park to give it a try….. by South Downs MTB Skills[/url], on Flickr

New tyres on my CX bike

TLR – tyres worked great off road, got caught in a thunderstorm on the road and they did feel slightly sketchy when I tried to corner hard, otherwise they’re fine though. The extra volume did a great job of soaking up the roots and flints, also the traction uphill was improved a bit too.

Just added some 42c tyres, plenty of clearance still left, lots of cushioning for zipping over Stanmer Park’s roots and flints.

Tell me about it, new rear mech and cassette incoming for mine…..

I cut up an old tyre and superglue a patch of sidewall over the cut on the inside, it seems to work well, saves buying a new tyre!

I’d swap the cassette for a 28 and see how you go, that’s the cheapest option to start with….

No need for copter tape, had Ti bikes for last 20 years and that’s certainly never been an issue, I suppose you might want to if you want to protect the decals but otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

As for the gearing the first thing I did was to ditch the cranks for some 105 as I hate those FSA ones! I’ve ended up with 32 / 46 and I swapped the rear cassette for an 11 – 28. The 105 rear mech wont take anything higher than that. It’s still a struggle on the steeper stuff but that’s more to do with me having weedy legs!

Just ride it around for a month, then decide where you want the stem and we can cut it down when we do the first service

Dr P, the tape was the only thing I didn’t do!

Now, get out on it, that was a stressful afternoon ;-)

Don’t know if it’s officially open, but last time I was up there it was “well used” for a closed trail ;-)

I finish at six, but won’t be back till seven, but we’ve booked in at the gym till nine.

If you come round for seven you can take it out for a couple of hours, I’ll be home just after nine.

Well I ended up getting one too, super capable, just an absolute blast to ride! I’ve got the Upgrade bike build on mine, but I have changed the cranks for some 105 ones as the FSA ones were too flexy for my taste.

You won’t be disappointed! I’m just trying to find the perfect 40c ish tyre for it. It has 32c on it at the moment and when I previously rode the demo it had some 40c on it and it was amazing off road. They were Schwlbe Smart Sam’s though and I didn’t really like them on road.

I’ve got the Olympus EPL3, very happy with it, but am lusting after the OM-D E-M10 or 5 as I’m missing having a viewfinder

I’ve got an E-PL3 and have been really happy with the results. I’ve bought some extra lenses too. I really like the size of it as I just didn’t use my DSLR when out on the bike, it was too big to cart around. Really happy with the results I’m getting.
