I sold a Kona Hei Hei that I’d had for 14 years, in the end I wasn’t using it much. I kick myself on a regular basis about it now. Don’t sell!

I rode one a while back, it was good fun. Wrote about it here:

    http://www.southdownshosting.co.uk/smtbsite/2012/09/whyte-t-129/%5B/url%5D

The one I rode was a demo and didn’t have the normal spec, so I can’t really comment on that. If it was me I’d want to dump all the SRAM stuff for shimano anyway as I can’t stand it!

I’ve got an FF29, all I can say is it’s light enough to race, but I don’t ride it any different to my Hummer. It gets thrown down all the local singletrack, ragged around the north downs/surrey hills. It will go away with me to Cannock next time I visit too!

I’m lucky to be here after a serious RTA, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to ride again. Consequently I have no problem getting the motivation to ride at all, I’m just happy to be able to.

IvanDobski – yeah 120mm on the FF29, awesome set up, it feels like a weapon through singletrack and downhill

I’ve just got some X Fusion slide 29’s, they seem good, done a couple of hundred miles on them now.

OK Brant, I just looked I got it August 22nd last year, tried to measure BB drop it looks about 5 – 10mm. Does this mean it does or does not have issues?

So the site says: “Advised Fork Length: 150/160mm Rock Shox/Fox”

Is 150 too short then? I’m just a bit upset about the revelations above. Regardless of what it cost I still expect everything to be correct :-(

OK, but i fitted a rockshox revelation 150 as it said on the on one site that was also a suitable fork. Are you now saying that is too short?

August or september last year. No, not measured the drop.

Can’t get full travel, if I let too much air out it’s a squidgy mess.

This one is a pretty good all rounder, descends well, is good through the singletrack and climbs OK.

This one descends like a dream, but it feels compromised pretty much everywhere else as a result of it. I realise this is all personal taste, but as I said above if I’d realised there would have been such a difference I’d have spent on something else. I am rather disappointed.

I bought one last year, my wife has one of the older ones which I really enjoyed riding, so I thought I’d get one as well. To be honest the differences between hers and the new one in geometry disappointed me. The newer slacker one is fantastic going downhill, but it’s just not as good as an all rounder. The lower BB and pedal strikes are annoying.

If I’m honest I wish I’d got to try one first, because if I had I wouldn’t have bought it.

It was fun rigid SS shinsplints, but I just wanted to go faster so added the gears, then as the speed went up suspension became necessary!

Very considerate of you John ;-)

He’s totally bonkers, wees on people’s shoes when they visit! But is awesome with the kids, will run with a bike and is well behaved as long as he’s had some exercise.

Proved to be a good escape artist from his crate when we’re out. We had to beef up the security! Now he can open the front and back doors so we have to keep them locked.

    Here’s mine.

I’m six foot tall, I went for a medium, but I prefer a smaller frame. That said it’s still longer than what I’m used to (cove hummer, El Guapo). It’s a great bike, really fast, capable in singletrack and rocket fast downhill. I’ve just fitted the 120mm X Fusion fork and it’s working really well.

I did a short video when I first put it together, it was rigid SS, but I find it more fun with gears and suspension.

Tell me about it kudos, I rode whiteways at the weekend not only was it muddy hell, but the logging has destroyed it :-(

To be fair it’s no less muddy over here though!

Go find your local BMX track, mine (Gosport) is one of the longest tracks in the south and getting to the end without pedalling takes real concentration and technique. It’s a great way of honing your skills and is really useful out on the trail. Get it right on the track and you can really accelerate through some sections and feel the benefit. This really translates on an undulating section of trail and you can feel the difference.
