I just got a new tattoo based on the double circle and z-rod design from one of the Aberlemno stones. I got the design from a stone pendant I bought in Pictavia in Brechin (The Pictish history centre). They have a lot of books on Pictish art and loads of other stuff. There are a few sites that contain pics of all the images on the Various standing stones across the north east that you could print and trace if you’re feeling artistic or alternatively if you do a search for Pat Fish tattoos on t’net the site has a selection of stylised interpretations of the designs on the standing stones.

I like Tattoos and I know a lot of people don’t but ultimately it’s all good.

Some of us like argueing over the same things on a regular basis – makes the day go by a bit quicker – why does everyone get so worked up about it. It’s just his opinion.

    how heavy are you?

    If you’re 10 stone don’t bother, if you’re 18 stone definately.

A mate of mine has 160mm rotors front and rear on all his bikes and it doesn’t seem to bother him at 15 stone – I on the other hand have a 203mm rotor on the front because I like being able to stop (and I’m 16 stone). Also depends on your brakes.

Why not just have one of each? Problem solved.

If they were hunting spaniels or shetland ponys I’d have a problem with them but foxes are fundamentally vicious predators theat have a nasty tendancy to go into a killing frenzy when exposed to contained animals. If they were smart they’d have learned to run faster by now – F*** em 🙂

Nice thread – apart from the intervention of the league against cruel sports.

To give another view – if you don’t hunt them with dogs you can always gas them, snare them or shoot them – none of which is a perticularly nice way to go. As to the hunt feeding the foxes up to hunt – that’s just silly. Foxes eat partridges, pheasants and ducks – all of which are reared by the same lot that are chasing the foxes (to be shot at a later stage obviously) If you encouraged fox numbers they would wipe out all the birds and start onto their next best choice – baby lambs. Now I’m a bit of a hardened country boy but even I get a little emotional at the the thought of all those poor little baby fluffy lambs being eaten by nasty old foxes. It’s why we country types put up with the one eyed in-bred upper classes chasing the little buggers around the country side – It keeps the numbers down.

Anyway back to the thread – being minced by a gyrocoptor is not a nice way to go.

Love Hate is set up for 100mm forks IIRC – PA is set for 130mm. Have a look at the Dialled bikes website for geometry details.

They’re is a bit of a Prince Albert clique going on at the moment so you won’t hear much bad about them on here. I’ve got a nice red one – and I’ve got a PA.

We camped at Glenmore (aviemore) last summer and tried SSS, jungle formula and Boots own 75% DEET and the only thing that worked in the evening when the little dastards were swarming was the high DEET stuff. Actually the only thing that worked was sitting inside the tent as Agent Orange wouldn’t have kept them away.

I know Ill get shot down for even suggesting this point of view but if the police stopped putting their mobile speed traps on motorways and concentrated on the A roads they wouldn’t need to buy so many new cameras.

What is the point of enforcing a random figure (70mph) that was set in the 1960’s when your average car could only just go that fast? My car can and does safely cruise at 90mph on quiet motorways and having driven a similar car on two lane German Autobahns can safely cruise at about 110mph (dependant on traffic and weather conditions obviously). It is all about driving apropriatlely to the conditions. Slapping a 50mph speed limit on a perfectly straight and wide A road will just encourage overtaking and ignoring of the Law. Sticking a 50mph speed limit on a very bendy narrow road with poor visability will make some of our less intelligent drivers think it’s safe to drive round a hair-pin bend at 50 mph.

Ultimately the government will do what it wants and all you non-drivers will be happy.

28% of road fatalities are the result of excessive speed.

what percentage of these are within existing 30/40/50 speed limit zones.

Can the remaining be broken down into Motorway, A road and B roads?

35% of fatal accidents were the result of “loss of controll” which presumably wouldn’t happen if you were at a sensible speed (i.e. taking a hairpin bend on a UC road at 59mph may not be sensible).

That’s a bit of a sweeping generalisation – loss of control can be a rseult a wide range of things of which speed would only be a tiny fraction.

Statistics can be used to prove anything.

It’s just moving us another step closer to a nice friendly totalitarian regime. Have a nice day now.

Blah blah blah…I hate cars and live in the city…blah blah blah

I got bored reading this after the first page so sorry if anyone else has come along with a sensible arguement to this.

I was going to quote some stats linking speed with accidents but since you’ve all made your minds up already – why bother.

Ever driven up the M74 north of penrith to glasgow at 70mph? interesting.

I think the man has made his mind up!

I’ve just changed my PA from a 2007 RS revelation to a fox 32 floar RL. Both of them are damn fine although I’m seriously considering getting the bolt through conversion for the fox. I think a coil pike might be a bit hard core (and it’s 140mm). Again it all depends on your weight, riding style, Where you’re riding and whether you can afford to buy new.

    Good luck

We’re putting in 3 teams with probably 4 per team. I thought the set up was good last year and the camping rocked – just a shame about the course.

It’s in a completely different location (north lakes near Keswick) so I’m hoping they’ve taken all the slagging on board and got something exciting lined up.

My almost-4-yearold hasn’t noticed yet despite sitting about 30cm from the screen at all times. I’m sure it wouldn’t bother her in slightest. Why the **** would it scare them? Does the vertically challenged shop assisitant in Balamory scare them too? Those wheelchairs can be scary things.

It’s more of a pain in the tits for those of us that don’t live in edinburgh. I live in beautiful clackmannanshire and the trains into edinburgh go straight past the airport – just a shame they don’t stop.

It’s Transport Scotland decision on what they spend our money on – not ECC. As to whether “trams add up financially or environmentally” the only scheme I’m aware of that didn’t result in a serious financial shorfall and hidiously spiralling sosts was Manchester Metro and that was because the bulk of it was built on exisiting but disused railway line.
As far as environmental factors go electric=green, diesel=pollution as far as politicians and your average sun reader as concerned. It doesn’t matter if it’s green or not as long as it’s percieved as being green.
I biked into manchester city centre every day when I was at Uni and as long as you stay out of the dedicated tram lanes and use a bit of common sense in the mixed use sections they are a damn site less dangerous than busses.

Depends on what your using it for and what sort of wieght you want to lug around with you. I’m a civil engineer and generally have one velcro’d to my hard hat for night shifts and have tried quite a few different types. The best 2 light wieght ones i’ve tried are the £30 Petzl Tikka plus (4 superbright LEDs)which runs on 3 AAA and the £35 Blackdiamond Spot (1 watt HyperBright LED & 3 superbright LEDs) which is a bit heavier but I’ve used it as an emergency bike light on a few occasions. Both companies do heavier/brighter/more batteries lights that get brighter in proportion with how much you spend. I know Alpkit do a 3 LED similar to the Petzl Tikka that’s under £20 but I’ve not tried any of their stuff.

Millar was busted by the Police after they searched his house and found two used syringes containing traces of EPO sitting in plain view on his book shelf. He said that he wanted to look at them every morning when he got up to remind himself that he was a cheat.

I think it’s fair to give Millar a second chance so by that reasoning we have to stand by the 2 year rule for Landis et al.

I’ve read Lance’s first 2 books and found them quite a good read but total Lance propoganda. I’ve just finnished reading “Bad Blood” by Jeremy Whittle and now I hate the guy (Lance that is not the author). Kermage didn’t come over very well in Whittle’s book either. I know journalism is rarely objective but given all the reports, whistle blowers and former US postal/discovery team-mates subsequent admissions, the guy is a cheat and a bully and shouldn’t be given the time of day let alone a place in the tour. And yes his foundation does do a lot of good work for charity but i’m sure this is down to the hard work of the people running the foundation not the personal efforts of Mr L. Armstrong.
