Arguing with TJ is in itself the definition of insanity – repeating the same thing over and over and expecting different results every time. He has an opinion which is frequently different from the majority (for whatever reason) and he will not change it. Have a few deep breaths, accept this as innevitable and move on.

    How very interesting.

Anyone out there got a 2010 El Guapo and an opinion on it?

Pulmicort 200mg turbohaler – tastes like sh1t and can give you oral thrush if you don’t rinse properly afterwards. Nice

I might have ordered one frame only and got a new Fox Float off ebay to go with it – but if i’d done that I’d have to tell my wife 😀

Longworth House on Hunter Street is a nice little Tapas bar, then a beer or two at Isobar on Honeysuckle. You were talking about Newcastle in NSW right?

Geda – is that a Mk1 853 Prince Albert? If it is I’ve got it’s sexy battleship grey twin sister in my garage 🙂

I’ve just stuck a set of Fox 36 talas on mine so I’ll let you know 🙂

I asked the same question on here a couple of months ago and got the same answers – NO!!!, maybe and she’ll be right.

Laggan is possibly the scariest place in the world when it’s frosty so good work fella. Went round it with a mate at Christmas a couple of years ago and it was so cold my rear mech sprockets froze while we were in the shop buying warmer clothes (-8 in the car park). We bumped into a couple of guys who were doing the black route (in it’s sheet iced glory) and they were on their arses the whole way round 😀

    I miss rocks.

This week I have mostly been drinking The Macallan Select Oak. Next week I’m going to ask the bar in town where they got the Ardbeg Blasda that I haven’t seen before let alone tasted yet.

I have left it in the fridge – another 30 minutes should get it to just the right temperature.

My advice is to go into a good bar with a fine selection of single malts and try a few. Everyone has a different palate and what is medicinal to some is nectar to others. Don’t be scared off the more full-on malts by their reputation, try it out and then commit to a bottle.

Just out of interest kuntsler – how did you get on biking from Jura to Islay? Most people usually take the ferry 😉

Compared to some of the freaks on here he struck me as relatively normal – just seems to be unable to .take any criticism and just wouldn’t let it lie. There does seem to be an increasing amount of bullying going on on here recently 🙁

Went up to the blue mountains for the first time last month (been n oz for a year now) and wasn’t overly impressed. if you’ve been to the alps you will be disappointed by the ‘mountains’. unless you like mozzies that is. No-one ever mentions Newcastle or the Hunter valley in these things so I’ll do my bit on behalf of the local tourist board – Sydney is a bit shit to be honest and there are much better things to see in oz than 2nd rate steel bridges and beaches full of brittish backpackers. Newcastle is a pretty cool place to stop on your way north and the Hunter valley vineyards are worth a week in themselves 🙂

Levi’s have done much for my musical education – Marvin Gaye, the Steve Miller band, t-Rex, muddy waters, The Clash… Shaggy all from 1990’s levi’s ads. Jose Gonzalez from the Sony ad made me buy the album which I actually listened to in full yesterday. I too ended buying Tak by sigur ros after watching the BBC ad. We must be advertisers dreams – play music on t’telly and ten mins later you’re on iTunes 🙂

This week I have mostly been drinking the Macallan select oak and it’s really very smooth. if you’re new to malt whisky you can’t go wrong with some of the old 10 year old standards – Glenmorangie, The Macallan, Highland Park or even Jura ( one of my favorites). You should try some of the more hard core ones out there just to check your palate, my father-in-law almost had to strap me to a chair to get me to try Laphroig but now I love it

The guy who imports is the former NSW state DH champ

That might explain the torrents of derision 😆 better check next time before I start slagging any more local heroes.

    Are you in NSW Langy?

That is true Young Richard 😀

But – I’d rather pick up a second hand patriot to replace the last production Patriot sold by orange that was stolen by those theiving barstewerds in Menstrie that were probably mates of the dodgy copper who lives next door[/b](and breathe)

I made the mistake of posting the same question on an oz bike forum and got a good verbal kicking there as well

Get a small one and only use it as a play bike on steep stuff. I bought one on here, built it up and sold it after 3 rides – just didn’t get it. They are bloody heavy too 🙂

I just started work with a new company so have just doen the 4 weeks notice thing. It was really cathartic being able to walk away from a job I didn’t particularly enjoy knowing that I could walk away and not have to deal with some of the tossers I worked with again and leave them to finish off the really shit project I was working on. It’s especially good to give your least favourite co-workers numbers out to your most anoying suppliers/sub-contractors as the best point of contact 🙂

I told them all just to see what their reactions would be – a good mix of shock, appathy and joy.

Reading RTA (Australian Highways Agency) technical specifications for concrete and concrete bridge construction, reviewing construction method statements and checking to see how many of you freaks are still awake in blighty.

I actually applied for a job with those well regarded german contractors as Edinburgh Tram design manager about 18 months ago. In hindsight I was bloody lucky that I didn’t get it.

It does go to the Airport and it does stop outside Waverly and through Haymarket.

Just as an aside – I was working for Network Rail when the Scottish Parliament cancelled the Edinburgh Airport Rail link – which we had spent a shitload of time and effort developing. It would have provided a link from Dundee, Stirling, Glasgow etc directly to the Airport and then on to Edinburgh. It was cancelled for no good reason other than they were already comitted to building the Tram.

    I’m in too

I’ve not shaved since sunday so have so far missed out on the dodgy stubble on lip look of the mo wannabe. I’m going to have to shave tonight or my new boss will think i’m a tramp/alchy/marin owner. I think we should have mandatory weekly photo checks from everyone who’s signed up on STW – it’ll make me feel slightly less of a tool.

The only reason I eventually got diagnosed as Hypothyroid was on the insistance of my mother-in-law who developed it after child birth. I had tests for all sorts of things including lukemia. Bizarely enough my wife has it too and developed it/was diagnosed at 19.

My theory of sexually transmitted hypothyroidism (from my wife I might add) was never investigated by any endocrinoligists or GPs 🙂

Where are you getting your info from roper? I’ve never heard anything about thyroxine damaging your adrenal system before – I’m not questioning you just looking for a bit of background reading 🙂

    Commencal meta 5

I’ve ridden treks, giants, oranges, and some fairly random euro bikes and the Commencal just works and rides better than anything else I’ve ever ridden – and the frame hasn’t cracked yet 🙂

I developed hypothyroidism when I was 25 and went from a rather fit, very active young guy to a slow fat balding old looking guy over the space of 6 months. It took ages for the doctor to diagnose me – it was the last thing they expected in a 25 year old male with no medical history of thyroid problems. my medication wasn’t right for ages but after upping my thyroxine 4 or 5 times I finally got back to normal. It took about 18 months for my skin, nails and hair to recover and a lot of hard work to get back to a decent level of fitness.

What one of my better GPs told me was that even if your tsh levels look ok then they should still treat the patients symptoms as ultimately you know your body best. Tell your GP how you feel and get him to up your thyroxin levels.

    I’m sure it’s perfectly innocent.

He was sitting eating a nice chorizo salad when a waiter accidentally discharged an entire clenbuterol inhaler over his lunch. Unfortunately Contador (due to a congenital lack of taste buds) could not taste this in his food and decided to munch his way through his meal regardless. Viola – food contamination!

I mean who in there right mind would ever suspect Contador of cheating?

i used to ride my patriot as a general trail bike – a good work out uphill and magic downhill. Do you really care what other people think about your bike choice? You'll always be pissed if your under-biked but you'll never be pissed off at having too much suspension when you're doing steep up's and downs. Get the Alpine and enjoy 🙂

    They're up the YAT!!!!!

I've ridden that trail a hundred times and Joe Barnes just made me feel like a total numpty. If you can ride that trail at that speed on a 5 then I need one.
