I often get text superimposed on photos. The site also crashes regularly requiring me to close IE and reopen. Only happens with this site.

I believe there’s plenty of evidence that the walkers would have given them more space if they were not wearing helmets.:)

Metcheck suggests that it will rain from noon Saturday to noon Sunday.
    Rather inconvenient timing really!

Watched the entire clip with baited breath expecting to see hoards of people diving out the way of a screaming herd of mountain-bikers.
Damn was I let down. What a beatup over nothing.
It looked a bit frustrating due to the people traffic but I don’t think the riders placed anybody in any real danger other than themselves.
I don’t mind a bit of mountain hiking from time to time, and stepping aside for 10 seconds to let a few bikers through is not a big deal really, whilst expecting them to stop and walk their bikes past me is a bit silly IMO.
Perhaps not being from this country I haven’t become so overprotective over trail access as many of you.
In Aus if I didn’t ride footpaths and illegal trails on crown land I wouldn’t ride at all but I digress.

I find it very easy to use.
I plot my intended route using memory map.
Export the gpx file from this and import into garmin training centre.
    Send it to the 800.
Tell your 800 to have the track pointing up rather than north.
Follow it round like any sat nav without the vocals.
I carry paper maps but cant remember the last time I’ve ever used them.

    I ride lots around there.
This is one of my favourites. Start in Crickhowell where the flag is and go anticlockwise.

There are some good routes on the Edge Cycleworks website for this ride. Worth a look.

That looks nice, but sideways pics are a pita on an iPad

It’s odd cause these pics are the right way up on my pc but sideways on the iPad!!

Nice. You sure you want the bars another 20mm higher with a 120mm fork? Lovely bike though.

Any idea what is the most accurate way to measure energy expenditure?

It’s lovely in Cardiff. The sun is out and not a cloud visible in the sky.
    How things change so quickly!

As said above if your going with a group of friends I’d go anyway and do other things whilst they’re riding.
You may feel up for a short ride one or 2 days and that will be better than not going.

and yeah the midges are pretty bad, was up there today. have to keep moving

I went to Brechfa last weekend to have a break from them but it’s just as bad there.

Lol. Yeh I admit it I used to diss it. You have a good memory.
I wish there were more rides like it now.
I usually do natural Beacons stuff but trails like Skyline are perfect for bad weather like now.
The Syndfrin (spelling?) in Nant y Arian is the only other like it close by and is also one of my favorites.

    EDIT

    watch out for bimbly 29’ers…

I’d be more worried about the midges! No bimbly 29er riders there only enlightened ones! :D

These are the best 2 sections in the place too so it’s quite a loss really. Skyline is completely open, has some amazing singletrack with some long fire road sections that IMO are completely worth it but do not suit everyone

Costco is unbelievable. The meat is fantastic and the kiosk is great too.
The chicken bakes are to die for usually followed up with a berry sundae.
Booze is quite cheap too. Well worth 20 quid per year.

Autopause is a big factor and will affect the distance massively.
On mtb trails its much more accurate to measure off a speed/cadence sensor than from the GPS plot due to the straightening of sharp corners. I don’t think it matters as much on the road as most are less convoluted compared to mtb trails.
I don’t bother with speed/cadence sensors on my road bike but all my mtb’s have them.

How farcical this thread has become. As tempting as it is to enter this discussion to correct a few glaringly inaccurate statements, it’s easier to let the fools argue amongst themselves and enjoy the rest of my day off.

I use car keys to scratch them. Can be a bit bloody and traumatic but very good at relieving the itch.

hugor – is that organised via the mtb Wales site and do they mind newcomers!?

It used to be but the site got over-run by spam bots so don’t go there!
They are a very friendly bunch of guys and welcome newcomers.
They ride at a social pace always regroup at junctions and the ride usually finishes at the Black Cock Inn for food and beverages.

Join me on Sarn Helen in the Brecon Beacons anyone?

I might do that. Love the Sarn Helen. My main steed is out of action at the moment but I have a 456 HT that will do the job.
How long a ride were you planning? My email is in profile.

There is a social ride every Wednesday night that leaves the Lewis Arms at Tongwynlais every Wednesday night at 730. I wil probably be there tomorrow pending a few essential repairs. They are a really nice bunch of guys.
Castle bikes do a Thursday night ride that leaves from their shop in Trethomas in Caerphili at 7 pm. Some really nice trails out there.
I ride most nights. Feel free to PM me (email in profile) if you want to do some natural Brecon Beacons stuff or anything else I usually ride alone anyway.

I mount my GoPro front and low.

The Hero 2 takes spectacular wide angle pictures as well as good HD footage. Not tried any of the others though.

EDIT: Looks like we posted at the same time! Quite like the mounting above too!

I’ve been procrastinating all morning trying to find some way around the post muddy ride faff. There’s no solution.
I’m off to play in the mud too. Damn!

Pain or numbness in the upper arm is not normal for carpal tunnel syndrome or handlebar palsy but I don’t agree with making internet diagnoses.
If it goes away I’d ignore it. If it persists I’d see someone.

Bottom line is that running out of wine would be a total fiasco, and for not very much money in the grand scheme of things you can easily avoid this.

    + 1
imagine running out just as everyone was getting happy. Not worth the risk IMO and will end up much more expensive.

I was at afan last weekend. Didn’t use any midge products.
They have settled down alot from a few weeks ago but I still wouldn’t camp there.
I wore a long sleeve top and full length skins over my legs. Have a buff handy to cover your neck and lower face when you stop.
The damn midges managed to find the small amount of exposed skin between the end of my long sleeve and my gloves – quite talented they are!
On a positive note the midges meant we went round skyline at a personal best for me due to not stopping at any opportunity.

Looks like a fairly abrupt transition from the centre knobs to the peripheral ones. Interested in replies.
I’ve been using Bonty 29-4 front and FR3 rear all year and been very happy.

Don’t most people drink at weddings? One of the worst weddings I can remember was alcohol free. I’d allow for at least 1 bottle per person. Many will have one or 2 glasses but many will have a lot more too.

“If doing w2, which centre is best to park at? “

Glyncorrwyg. Get the harder climb done first. The Wall climb is mostly fire road and better on tired legs than the techy Whites climb.

Much better cafe to finish at too. The servings are big!!
