If the meat (steak) has been in the fridge too long and begins to get a bit slimy then I usually rinse it.
Makes me feel better about eating it.

Surely you could just cruise up the road to the top and trail it down.
Afan is amazeballs after a heavy dump.

As someone who regularly changes between 26 and 29 wheel mountain bikes I think there is a significant noticable difference but its not much.
Put a half knotch in the mix and I think its not going to be noticable by most including myself.

    Story Arms!
You could cycle or walk to Merthyr from there without too much bother.
The danger begins when you arrive to Merthyr.

If the road actually is impassable you might need to ride a long way. I’d take a 29er if I were you! :D

I take real issue with wasting food. It was just the way I was raised.

I had real issues over Christmas which was at our house this year.
The inlaws who were staying with us kept buying excess food what was never going to be consumable by us, and had no issue binning stuff just to make room in the fridge for more.

I think those figures are probably accurate cause the people who don’t have a conscience wasting stuff would bin loads.

Loving my Cross-check but I use it mainly as a roadie.
Changed group set to 105. Canti’s seem plenty of braking for me.

Is darkside the same as its always been or has it been modified? I read somewhere a while ago that a new descent was planned.

If I’ve done a particularly loud or aromatically offensive number I personally can’t leave the cubicle until the bathroom is empty. If someone is waiting outside it creates a real Mexican standoff situation.

Hey mudshark – how did you create the map overlay of all your routes in the SE?

This will do that for you.

Also surely a suspension seatpost would make it harder to stay seated when climbing?

I’m a seated climber too and when I went from a duelly to a hardtail after a frame crack I found it near impossible to climb properly on really rocky terrain.
A suspension post fixed that for me.
They only really take the edge off the big hits which is all you need.
They basically function as a rigid the rest of the time.

I use the USE suspension seatposts. It looks like every other post and works really good.
It’s amazeballs. No bob on mine at all but I’ve got the firm one.
An excellent compromise on a hardtail IMO.
Not tried the Cane Creek ones but as you say they look fugly.

I’ve been using the sensor for years on my full suss mtb’s. Havnt had problems with the spoke magnet/sensor but the crank magnet seems to fall off frequently.

I used the 800 with topo GB 1:50k. Extremely useful for following preplanned routes. Its got me out of trouble when lost etc or when my legs were shagged and I just needed to get the quickest route back to the car. For off piste exploration I’d probably get something with a bigger screen like the Dakota.

I drove my car around in Cardiff with an expired disc for at least 2 months before realising (DVLA had an old address). I paid it instantly online upon realising, expected a fine but didnt get one, and when the disc arrived the tax period was backdated to the expiry date.
I didn’t stop driving at any point.
I personally wouldn’t get too concerned but hey I’m no policeman.

My last epic ride in the UK with my Welsh buddies.
A long hot and foggy climb to the summit of Pen Trumau in the Black Mountains.
We stopped and wondered how we were going to descend with such limited visibility.

As if by act of God or magic a wind blows it all away in an instant revealing my favourite descent in South Wales.

    Amazing day.

I’ve not seen Afan or Cwm Carn ever become unridable.
They are extremely well designed trail centres.
The only thing to consider at Afan is trail closures.

I think that bike looks fantastic.
The thin tapered fork legs seem like a good idea to me to allow for a bit of flex/give.
My Moony still rides pretty harsh in the front despite the 5 inches of rubber.

Do you use the drops ever?

    Never!
But I’m a novice roadie and find them too much of a stretch.
I’m not sure why its not a good roadie but coming from an experienced mtb background it works well for me.

My fatbike was delivered with a large deep scratch in a rim.
It was most likely from rub in the packaging.
My LBS contacted Surly who offerred me a replacement rim or a bag of goodies.
I took the bag of goodies which was a whole lot of shirts, hats, random accessories. A replacement rim would have created a significant delay. I was happy with the exchange.
Its a mountain bike after all not an ornament.
The rims have loads more scratches on them now.

Well done to the OP for remaining restrained upon hearing of the trolls satisfaction with injuring a child.

I struggle with the n+1 urge.
Experience has taught me that the drive does not go away until the purchase is made.
You can suppress it only for so long but it always wins.
    I hate it.

As an ex NHS consultant orthopaedic surgeon I feel I am qualified to pass judgement on the feedback my patients gave me.
The excellent physios who I worked with were incapable of providing appropriate care due to the political and economic environment they were constrained within.
They were overworked, underpaid and under-resourced.
As I said earlier its not their fault.

    MG,
Having recovered from 3 serious mtb injuries which all required surgery I feel your pain.
My advice would be to keep with your private physio who understands your needs and will accelerate your rehab as much as you can tolerate and is safe for your injury. NHS physios are fantastic however are functioning in a system where they are unable to deliver appropriate levels of care. Its not their fault.

I would also recommend that you get clear instructions on what you exercises you can do in your own time and what limits you can push yourself.
I’ve had excellent results from all my injuries which were severe but I became completely obsessed with them.
I broke and dislocated my shoulder and had reconstruction surgery.
Before your bone has healed enough you need to perform ppassive exercises – ie not under your own power.
When the bone has healed enough you can increase this to asssisted active and then fully active exercises.
There are many simple ways you can do your own physio at home or in your office daily – I did this multiple times per day.
It would be innappropriate for me to recommend things for you here, but I highly recommend that you get this advice from your private physio.

Good luck mate I will watch this thread with interest.
