I recently bought a Gemini Titan with the 8 cell pack and it’s incredible. Liked the idea of an all in one light but the Maxx Ds etc look so bulky on the bar and this really is very low profile and much smaller than I expected. I tuck the battery down above the bottom bracket so it’s solid and keeps the weight low down for what that’s worth.

Recently added a Gemini Duo helmet light which is great – light enough and very powerful, but a little too wide a beam to work well alongside the Titan and I prefer an all in one helmet unit i think. The wireless bar switch is brilliant though and makes it really easy to adjust both lights up and down on the fly.

I’m tempted to get one of these after seeing a couple on the roads.

Quick walk over the new bridge now

I’d forgotten they were building that! Probably a preferable option in January!

Also.. any know where I can get a good burger?

    http://copenhagenstreetfood.dk/en/

Great food there (and indoor too despite the name). Nice cycle to get there (if it’s dry anyway) and a massive variety of great food.

Other nice places to eat were:

I’d find a place on airbnb. Great way to see a city – you feel like you’re living there for a weekend rather than insulated as a tourist with all the infrastructure/filters that come with being in a hotel.

We had an Air BnB booked but they cancelled it 2 weeks before we were due to fly as they claimed to have had a flood. No idea if it was genuine but I’m happy as we ended up in a really nice hotel in a much better area (albeit at three times the price!!).

It’s an amazing place. Went for our anniversary earlier in the year and really loved the whole thing. We stayed here which was cool, not bad value and very well located for cycling around.

And yes, most of the local women (and men if that’s your thing!) do all look effortlessly healthy and beautiful as only scandis can!

I like the idea of napalm, but unsure the house is fireproof enough!! I suspect that they’re dying off for the season now and all being well, we’ll be doing a big extension and refurb next year, so I might just bide my time and let the builders find them…

Open to any sensible suggestions though if anyone has found any miracle cures…

The Whyte in the latest issue looks like a nice bike.

Spoonik if you fancy some slightly Heston-esque fine dining. When we went you ate in the chefs house but I think they may now have opened a proper restaurant.

Genuinely one of the best dining experiences of my life.

When I learnt to snowboard the instructor told me that it’s the rear leg that does all of the work and I think it’s the same on a bike (or skateboard). I think most right handed and footed people lead with the left leg as the rear leg is used to change direction much more (especially in the air). I’m right handed and footed but ride with my left leg back, snow/skate/wake board goofy and have a dominant left eye.

The one time I had golf lessons the instructor told me being cross dominant was an advantage as your dominant eye was the lead one with no nose in the way, but I was crap so unsure this is true!

I’ve just ordered a 2 cell duo as I am too impatient to spend any more time thinking about it! My Giro lid has a gopro mount and I’ve seen a suitable mount so I will see how I get on with that. I’ll try it with separate control switches at first (one either side, they’re very neat and easy to operate) and switch the helmet light down or off when not needed. Most pre-dawn rides are under an hour so the battery will be fine for those on full, and evening ones only 2 hours ish so again, should be fine if I am careful.

Thanks for all the input – I’ll report back once I’ve tried it.

We use them for Amex payments as they’re the cheapest for those. No issues at all so far although we’ve only processed a few transactions so far, albeit high value (£25k ish each). I’d read bad things so emailed them beforehand and explained my concerns and their Comms were very good.

After a little experiment this morning, I think forzafkawi has a point. I stuck on my 450lumen Lezyne commuter helmet light which I used to use alongside my Magicshine bar light without issue. As he says, it was almost useless unless I had the Titan on the lowest power setting, and even then it wasn’t much use, even on the super tight bits.

Am sure a Diablo would be fine on full power but 1 hour runtime may not be enough unless I make the effort to drop the popper or switch it off when its not needed. Maybe a Duo with 2 cell battery on the back of the helmet to balance it out may be the best option.

I had 2014 34s on my last bike which were pretty average before I spent £200+ at Mojo tweaking them, and after that they were great. Super plush and plenty stiff enough. My new bike has Pikes and although I haven’t had time to do much fiddling yet, my initial thoughts are that I prefer the 34s. Much more supple at the top of the travel. Mine were the posh Kashima factory ones and as above, the CTD dial was pretty poor, but I don’t think you’ll go wrong either way.

Maybe the 34s are the ‘performance’ version rather than the ‘factory’ ones which have better damping?

TBH, the power of the Titan was one of the reasons I was looking at the Exposure Diablo as that is 1400 lumens on max power and a very compact unit for it’s brightness. It costs more than a 2 cell Duo, so it was nothing to do with scrimping, I just liked the idea of a powerful all in one, lightweight unit.

The Duo can also share the wireless control of the Titan so it would make a nice package I guess.

    Cheers – I’ll take a look there.

Do think I prefer the idea of an all in one unit though as I don’t need mega power with the Titan, just something to help in the twisty bits!

I’d looked at the duo but didn’t really want a separate battery pack as I don’t normally wear a pack on pre-dawn or night rides as they’re shorter. Although I wonder if I could run the Titan and Duo off the same battery pack with a splitter maybe (although unsure I fancy being wired onto the bike!

I test rode one and it didn’t feel at all short compared with my V1 Bronson although it’s certainly shorter than my Hightower. I’m not a fan of hardtails but liked the Loki.

Good effort! I was lazy and bought one of these which is pretty good for the money.

    https://www.buydirect4u.co.uk/product/garden-outdoor/garden-outdoor-garden-storage/bentley-wooden-large-log-store/

Comes flat packed so only took about half an hour to put together.

    Large Hightower?

    450mm reach
    450mm seat tube
    435mm stays
    140/135 travel
    67 head angle?

You could fit and offset headset and probably add 5mm to the reach.

Or a Tallboy. Same as above but with less travel and 68 head angle

I think if you can commit to race a full season then it’s good value as for the £6k or whatever annual fee, you get a £6k bike and then the support of a good team for the season, at races and for training.

The same system is very popular in motorsport so no reason that shouldn’t translate to bike racing,

Unsure why anyone would be bothered by it, joining is purely optional!

I had a Saturday uplift booked a few weeks ago and had some much that we went back on the Sunday morning. Managed to get four runs in before some stragglers appeared. if you’re on your own you can probably get a few more in, but if there’s a few of you then it’s less likely.

+2 for Mawgan Porth. Closer to the Airport than Newquay itself and perfect for families. Not as ‘Chelsea on Sea’ as Watergate Bay, Rock and Padstow but has nice shops and decent places to eat. We usually stay at https://theparkcornwall.com/ which isn’t cheap but has accommodation ranging from oldish but clean static caravans, to bungalows, eco lodges and yurts. Heated outdoor and indoors pools so great when the weather is iffy and only a 5 min walk from the beach.

This places is a 10 minute walk and is the most amazing place to go and eat in the evenings.

Well I was about to push the button on same jaw Breakers after trying a load on at the airport last week, and then yesterday my four year old daughter walks into the room with my missing Jawbones on her face! Turns out she had been ‘shopping’ a few weeks ago and put them into her handbag….

She was very pleased with herself!

Is the A6 an S-Tronic (which is a dual clutch box rather than a ‘proper’ auto)? I had assumed it would use the ubiquitous ZF 8 speed box like mine which is brilliant.

I’ve always had BMWs but currently have an Audi and won’t be getting another (and it’s quite a juicy one). For me, they’re just too detached to drive and as I don’t drive every day anymore, I want to enjoy it.

However, modern autos are great and if you’re likely to spend much time in traffic or around town, that would swing it for me. Quattro is also nice when the weather is grim.

I’d say the Audi is arguably the better day to day car due to 4wd and autobox, but the BMW is probably the one that would make you smile when driving it every now and then.

Does anyone have the Oakley transition lenses? Do they change fast enough when riding into the woods on a sunny day?

I’m 6′ and rider a large. I sat on an XL and it felt massive. I fancy a 170mm drop Reverb and the XL was too tall to use one of these so I went with a large and a 50mm stem and it’s perfect. with shortish arms I think an L might be a tad too long but trying one is the only real option. Most SC dealers should have one on demo I’d have thought.

    LOL fair point Timmys!

I’ve read the MTBR thread re a longer shock and like the idea but worry about warranty invalidation and seatpost rubbing so might let someone else try it first!
