The sales ploy works on me everytime, i normally just go for energy bars, recovery drink or similar, boring stuff but stuff you always seem to get through.

When you say ‘which one’ are you refering to the Cat or the dog to insure?

Oh sorry, didn’t notice the Ribble discount excluded Endura, it said the discount was on 95% of items.

They sometimes do a similar thing and exclude Assos, which is annoying as well.

As xcgb said, make sure you have a back up, even if it’s just the vicar stepping in to help out.

Five years ago i was determined to be a pallbearer at my brothers funeral, thankfully the funeral director had an extra person on hand on the day as when i arrived at the church i needed my mrs to help me in the church, let alone be able to help carry a coffin.

My brothers best mate spoke on the day and he smiled, laughed and cried as he relived stories, none of which mattered as the whole congregation was doing the same along with him, if what you say is from the heart then there will be no problems even if you have to pause to compose yourself.

A couple of fresh hankies will be essential, my thoughts are with you for the day.

oldgit, as an option on the 300k Corinium CC do an event which is on Easter weekend.

Starts at Cirencester and goes out to Daventry and back (roughly speaking), i did it in 2009, its a nice ride.

If you contact the organiser there is chance to sleep in the hall at the start (6.00am start) which can save on travel time/rest before the event?

Was thinking it may be closer to your geographical area?

    In January i did 2 x 100km, and 1 x 200km

Missed out on the Chippenham Flapjack the other week through ilness, had been in bed for four days up til the Friday and somehow thought i could do 100km on the Sunday, only made 82km and bombed big style!

Got a 200km near Reading booked at the end of Feb, Im going to try for the ‘Year round randonneur’ when you have to do a 200km ride each month for 12 consecutive months.

Oldgit, which longer ones are you planning for your SR? as you need to do a 200km,300km,400km and 600km in the same Audax year.

    @ Rorschach

I could, but you are entitled to your own views and opinions.
I do however agree it is a case of paying alot more for those differences but if they make the bike what you want it to be then that’s better than spending less but ending up with something that doesn’t excite you to ride it?

Have you got a carbon 29er or are you looking at getting one?

Air 9 carbon with 100mm reba’s, a fantastic ride even on twisty technical stuff, the traction when climbing is unbelievable even with a crossmark on the back and when your on anything close to flat or fire roads you can just wave goodbye to your riding buddies.
Anyone that compares it to one of the cheap £300-500 efforts that are available really needs to look a little closer!

Can’t offer a steel comparison as it’s 20 years since i rode ANY steel bike!

If your looking at doing either longer Audax rides or rides at this time of year then something that you can fit full proper mudguards to is essential, and not race blade clip on style, i have experience of both!

Also if you can afford it look at titanium, i did a 200k yesterday on my Planet X Ti sportive, best thing i have done an Audax on.

Just finished putting together my Niner Air 9 Carbon, it’s a medium running 3×10 XT and is 24.5 lbs
    Rock Shox Reba RLT forks
Formula The One brakes with 160 Rotors
    Thomson Stem/Seatpost
    Fizik Gobi Saddle
    Ritchey Carbon Bars
    Hope Ceramic BB
Stans Arch Rims with Hope Pro II Hubs
    Maxxis Crossmark/Ardent
    XTR 980 Race pedals
Got to admit i was a little miffed when i weighed it, however it wasn’t built as a weight weenie exercise, it has to be useable and durable? i am 94kg!
