On a TT specific bike, wheels etc, you would go quicker than on a normal road bike.

Dual carriagways are fast, dangerous but fast, generally good surfaces with lorries going past @ 50-60 pulling you along.

The quicker courses are flat or sometimes you start at the top of a big hill but on the way back you stop short of the hill as the rules allow for the start and finish to be a distance apart.

On roads in the real world it would be very difficult to attain TT sorts of av speeds,

My best 50TT is 1.59.03 (approx 25.2mph av) about 36miles of this on dual carriageway!

One of my regular road rides, with not many junctions and only a couple of hills would be 34 miles and if I’m going well would take me 1.53 – 1.54 so 17.8mph av or so?

Don’t be too worried about peoples TT times, don’t get me wrong the top boys are mind boglingly fast, but most people on here would be suprised what they could attain.

How much is my (insert old crap bike name) worth?

I’m 5’10” and 215 lbs, so could do with shedding some timber 🙁

Most of my diet is fairly good, I struggle with portion sizes, and if I get bored or hacked off at work I go to the garage and get a packet of biscuits and polish them off with a couple of cups of coffee.

I normally do 6 training sessions a week, 3 bike (about 8hrs) 2 weights sessions and a RPM spinning thingy.

So wouldn’t like to think how many calories I’m getting through 😯

Not seen them show the traffic jams I always see down there?

I’ve done a bit, so hopefully wont hold you up too much, did TransWales 2010 and get out about 3 times a week, however 44yrs old and 15stone so don’t tend to fly uphill!!

As far as other interests were more Birds/Wildlife than shopping, although we do like quaint towns with nik nak type shops?

And as you may have guessed at 15stone I do like food 😀

On a serious note if i’m out for a training ride on the road this time of year I normally take the cyclocross bike, feel I have more chance of staying on if its icey or just muddy from farmers chucking it down on the back lanes.

And not much slower than the road bike.

As long as the weather’s not too bad the Mrs would do a walk if there marked from the trail centre, it’s what we’ve done before in the Lakes,

pottsathome, yeah I read that somewhere about the trail centre cafe’s being closed midweek.

Is there a recognised way of ‘rustling up a local’ or would I just have to drag one out of a nearby cafe?

I’m not sure I could spark up conversation in the car park, my Mrs says I have an unaproachable quality, I’m not, she says I just have that look?

It would appear that Dalbeattie has a diversion on the red at present which means missing ‘Hyper link’ and ‘Rock Don’t roll’ would that greatly affect the ride?

It may not if I could access these off-piste bits 😉

I’ll take the Lead Pipeline Engineer position I have experience as many years ago I removed and replaced some Lead pipe in a house 😀

I put some S works The Captains on my 29er last summer and was less than impressed.

Put plenty of sealant in but when inflated the sealant was having to fix holes where letters and numbers were stamped on the sidewall as well as the bead/rim practically all the way round.

Hence first very small puncture and there wasn’t enough sealant left to repair it, so tubed it.

I put more sealant in the other tyre and to be fair it lasted a few months and repaired about 3 punctures by the look of it when it eventually got a small split that wouldn’t seal and I tubed it.

On an Audax once we stopped at the Old Mill Coffee Shop and Bistro, was fairly smart for an Audax stop,

not sure about wifi but the cakes were very good 😀

Met up with mates @ 7.30, van was reading -7!

Good 3hr ride on Ridgeway, Barbury Castle and about, Camelbak frozen for the whole ride, most of us had shifting issues 🙁

The Yeti SB95 from the little I know has a bit more bounce than I was after, I believe it’s 120mm?

I was only after 100mm, pity though, have never owned a Yeti but have always liked to 😉

Have you ever done this and if so how did it work out financially?
