markenduro – looks a good deal especially with the racks etc. will maybe try and see one in the flesh. may be a bit porky as the winter / distance road bike though…

Lesser known in this country but looks a decent bike. Primary use will be distance / winter road biking and and some touring.

Anyone any experience of the brand?

hi all late comer to the post; seriously thinking about a 2010 tricross comp for winter road use and touring. anyone got this years model and any comments on brakes and general reliability?

trail-rat – impressed with your loch muick antics on the bike so assume it's up to the job off-road!

also looking for a bike for similar duties; have also looked at Genesis Croix de Fer and Devinci Caribou 2. discs and triple chainset would be ideal for hilly terrain but few bikes seem to have them. Kona looks fine but maybe a bit porky as a winter road bike. Anyone seen a Trek Portland in the flesh?

hi – not sure if the post is still active – I'm also looking for a winter road bike / touring bike and have short-listed the above. Also seen a Devinci Caribou 2 for the same price, no disc brakes but has a triple chainset which I would prefer. Anyone any experience of them??

Hey all; I short listed these bikes last year after having my 05 S-Works Enduro stolen twice and didn't like the current version. Did the usual, read reviews, sat on them in the shop etc. and settled on a Spicy 916.

At the end of the day it just felt right and, having ridden Enduro's for a few years, familiar. This is something that you'll need to experience for yourself if possible. Bike performed very well during a recent trip round Torridon and the Scottish highlands and never felt wishing for a different bike, climbing or descending (Maybe carrying once or twice though!)
