Blueberry – something like blue gold would be good in a pot and you’d get flowers and berries. If I ever have a garden again I want a magnolia in a pot because they are so lovely.
Skimmia is really low maintenance and looks cheery and smart all year round
Japanese maple needs a little bit of tlc but worth the effort
I used to have a crabapple tree in a pot which was very pretty
Lavender is pretty, easy to grow in a pot and bee friendly
I qualified with the YMCA just because if I ever used it I wanted a qual that people had heard of. It was expensive. Some of the tutors were brilliant, others not so much. They keep messing around with the courses which can be a pain if you’re studying part time (you think you’ve nearly completed all the elements you need for a qual … and then they change the course and you have to pay again to do a new version of a component you’ve already done).
How are a bunch of angry man haters where at any one time, 25% of the content contribution are in mid-cycle, are anyway qualified to objectively assess paint viscosity?

I’ve stayed here many times and think it’s great value for money. The location is ace. The cheapest rooms are small though. I like that the clientele is very mixed (there is a Yotel near Times Sq which does nicer ‘pod’ rooms but the communal areas look/feel like a sixthform common room).
Parking will be nightmarish/expensive/impossible. Treat yourself to a hotel stay and train ticket – there are trains from Charing Cross etc to get you to the start line. Good luck and have a brilliant time (watch out for the street furniture!) – it’s a great race 🙂
Yoga (camel pose is great for stretching all the muscles that shorten when you’re deskbound) and swimming (best thing ever for core strengthening – this is stw so I’m assuming you have a pool at home)
