Zero16 was it Bancroft cycles?
I remember it, it was a brilliant shop 😉hrcmontyFree MemberThanks for all your replies.
I’ll spend time tweaking the cleat, failing that i will seek further advice from the pro’s.
I’d love to get a bike fit, but i simply can’t afford it. I know you can’t put a price on your health etc.
hrcmontyFree MemberA bolt with the same pitch as a hanger bolt, put through a ‘long’ bar and use leverage.
But to be honest, you’ll be lucky to get it good enough to ensure good gear change again.hrcmontyFree MemberI must say i never get any form of BO, but it is definatly in the wool itself and is when wet with water and not sweat.
Hmmmmm i may ask on one then.Other than that its brilliant.
hrcmontyFree MemberI can not belive a ”manager’ has just posted that on a cycle forum.
That is 100% unprofesional and if you are found out by a friend or family member, of this person.
You are putting your company in a position of being taken to an employment tribunal, being sued for 000’s and you being fired! So i agree, if i were you i would strongly ask the mods to remove all traces of this thread! And quickly!!!
hrcmontyFree MemberCan you get some Pics up, as you’ve said you think it’s one of those. But not sure.
Normal ISIS BB’s the actual shell is threaded so when you unscrew it. The BB shell comes out.
hrcmontyFree MemberIf it’s something like that, then if you can soak your whole bb cup in a carton of wd40 or similar over night. Come to it in the morning, rest the frame against your shins. Get a piece of wood and a bigger hammer.
Then go for it, The akle has a Flange on it that is against the bearing, this will knock a bearing out.hrcmontyFree MemberIf your in Leeds area, feel free to come use my man garage. I have everything you can think of! 😀
hrcmontyFree MemberIve just been dealing with Will, regarding a bent seatpost.
Superb service and quick replies. Sorted me out with an FSA carbon post.Brilliant thanks guys
hrcmontyFree Memberrootes1 i think a figure of 9 is by far best 😉
But honestly yes a figure of 8 is best to get all edges of the pad material going against the grain.
hrcmontyFree MemberBut also in my expirience, contmainated or poor pads make a massive difference.
Personally i would –
Get new pads from Superstar, get Kevlar.
Get some Brake fluid and Bleed them and stick some new pads in there.hrcmontyFree MemberI most probably will be stand corrected. But no, hose length will not make a difference.
I hate to say it, but is there a possibility the wrong Fluid has been used by the previous owner when bled. Shimano use Mineral, so if they’ve been bled with DOT, then theres a chance all the seals are knackered.
hrcmontyFree MemberI’ve bedded in loads of brakes via my method. and there is Liturally 30seconds of Low effort ‘Mincing’ about. And the Brakes get sizzling hot.
I also Bed in the Motorcycle trials Brakes in the same way to bed new pads in. So Please you keep ‘Mincing’ about with your hills. My method is done and finished by the time you’ve even got to the top of your hill.
Actually i’m out Pads bedded and in having a brew by the time you’ve started on your little descent. 😆
hrcmontyFree MemberBedding in…. Hmmmmm there are millions of threads, ideas etc etc.
I Stick the bike in the easiest gear, and pedal around for a few minutes with the brake on, then pour some water on. If it sizzles jobs done. If not do it again. Back brake wont take long to warm up atall.
Hill things ok, but by the time you’ve cycled up again, they cooled down.
hrcmontyFree MemberHi,
Well i had Tektros on and they are fantastic brakes, certainly powerfull enough, even more so with Kevlar pads. But there was no modulation which is why i got rid of them.
I’ve just got some 2012 xt’s. And they are out of this world. Powerfull never fade, and wicked modulation so you can have as little or as much as you want.
But for your brakes, Rob Jackson is correct. But not only do you need to bed them in, you need to resurface the pads. So get some fine grit sand paper, and place it on a flat surface. Then simply lightly rub the pads on them in a circular motion. This will resurface them.
Then bed them in. If your still not happy, Re bleed your brakes.
hrcmontyFree MemberFunkydunc, can i be really cheeky and ask for your routes too?
i like to try out new routes around us.If so hrc_montyAThotmailDOTcom 😀
hrcmontyFree MemberI’ve also got SS Floating rotors,
180/160 and using their adaptors. I actually get no fouling with my CR’s that i’ve just put on. My Tektros did though big time!
hrcmontyFree MemberFunkydunc
Don’t suppose you have a description of the Van or the Blokes do you.
even though you only suspect it at this point.
Sorry to hear about your loss, I’m in Guiesely area and the other day a Van with 2 Blokes in it were having a good luck down everyones drives. It was an old Merc, white van with 2 Afro Caribbean males in it.
If i’m outside working or whatever i never have the Garage door open for long. but this time they had a good old look straight into the Garage!!!
hrcmontyFree MemberHi Dawson,
When you select the 4 pack option, it will take you to an area where you have 4 drop down boxes. this is so you can order different types within that 4. If you want the same, just change all those boxes to your chosen selection.
Delivery is normally quick and next day.
If your on facebook, contact them regarding Mayhem. They respond on an evening.
😉
hrcmontyFree MemberHi,
Yeah i used one for a little bit. Easy to set-up, i had no issue with noise, well made. The only problem you may have is the shape of your chain stay. Mine was on an On-one 456, and getting it set-up for chain alignment was a nightmare.
hrcmontyFree MemberYeah it’s bust. No good to you.
Throw it away in my direction 😀hrcmontyFree Memberthisisnotaspoon – I fully agree! In this situation the Bolt i belive was not stuck but just rounded. but in any case with an exctractor i would get some WD or similar down the thread incase it has seized at all.
But yeah i agree, there not Great, but there good enough if your gentle with them.
hrcmontyFree MemberPS, for future Bolt Extractors are good.
Drill a small hole slightly down the centre, Extractor has a course thread that grips and remove that way 😀hrcmontyFree MemberThere is no way the Drill ‘Started off straight’ and went off at that angle! Thats an impressive **** up! Sorry not helpfull.
Possible to have someone fill it via Ali welding? I.E just pool a load of ali weld in there. Then re thread?
Honestly buy another. Like someone said if it would withstand forces as it is. The manufacturers would drill holes like that to save weight. As they don’t and they haven’t i would assume it’s unsafe.
If it was a friend who did it for you, slap him and tell him to buy you some beers! Lots of it!
If it wasn’t a friend get them to buy a new one for cocking up.
hrcmontyFree MemberI’d have done it for £499.99 for you!
But seriously, is that including Parts, So cassette, Chain, Crank, Rings.
If so that price plus labour probably isn’t that pad. Is it not?
If thats just Labour, Well Bend down sir. you’ve just been Bummed by the Honey monster!
hrcmontyFree MemberI love Stainburn, and i can just nip down in my Dinner hour, for a cheeky blast.
Black route is certainly one to put a smile on your face. I do wish though, Chicken wire was put on the Wood sections! Even in the dry, my head is telling me it’s slippy!
Please put chicken wire on, i’ll come help put it on!
hrcmontyFree MemberS-
I’m intrested in Mike Mentzer’s guides. Can you share with me, either a detailed routine that you do, or a link or something to an online Guide that you follow.
I am Weight training liturate, so no need to explain the basics.
I’d me much appreciated, as i wouldn’t mind training to failure as he describes.
E-mail me, hrc_montyAThotmail.com
CheersChris
hrcmontyFree MemberOMg, thats my worst nightmare. a garage in that state,i’m so anal about my garage!
You don’t happen to have a Rockshox Recon 120mm Black coil in that lot do you!!?
And i can’t belive everythnig is just thrown on the Caterham! If you don’t want it. Donate it….. To Me! 😆
hrcmontyFree MemberThats Fantastic News,
And i’m shocked the Police actually doing there job for once!
Congratulations, and nice one STW guys for spotting Gumtree add.hrcmontyFree MemberHave a good read through the Manual, located on the Pace web site.
I was looking at the RC41 Fighter one, as i was going to buy some.and i remember reading something about that being perfectly normal for Pace forks, in certain circumstances.
But have a look on the Pace web site, and a good read of the manual.
hrcmontyFree MemberI fully agree with TandemJeremy,
I would only ever put splitlink on a bike upto 250, Maybe 400.
But 600 + defo a Riveted Link, which needs a special tool to shape the Rivet correctly, If you do it wrong you’ll get a tight link! Also if your intending doing it yourself, make sure you tension the chain to the chains tight spot.
If you haven’t got the tools or really done it before, i would advice to take it to your Local Bike Shop,
Poor fitted chains can lead to all sorts,
Snapping and smashing the engine case, or worse locking the arse end up.
I had a DID once on my RGV 250, that came off not because off poor fitting. But it flew off backwards straight over the car just behind me and landed on the road about 1ft away from my mate on his bike!
Ended up going back to japan for testing.
hrcmontyFree MemberFenwicks FS1 for me.
Due to its non-aggressive nature, FS-1 concentrate can be used neat as a degreaser or diluted with 10 parts water to form FS-10 bike cleanerBy far the best, and for a £10 because it’s concentrated.
You use it neat as a powerfull degreaser, or diluted for normal cleaning. So really 10lts for £10, by far the cheapest too!
and you can spray it on your discs all day long and not contaminate themhrcmontyFree MemberTurbo Diesels don’t have Dump Valves like Petrol. They have recirculating valves that force the unused air back into the system, they do have a waste gate so if the Turbo is being fed more air than needed it will divert through the waste gate.
The hissing you can hear is perfectly normal. The type and level of the noise differs from make to make, depending on type of Valve or how much Boost the Manufacturers run the engine at. Vauxalls for EG have a lot of Turbo Lag and are pretty placid on the power, My Golf GT TDI has a right kick on it.
hrcmontyFree MemberI use Rockshox Recon 100mm on my 456, but i’m after a 120mm Coil assy,as my riding style warrants longer travel.
But in answer to your question, 100mm travel rides nicely on most things. It’s just when you get to big jumps or drop offs.
hrcmontyFree MemberWWASWAS,
Brilliant!
JeJames, so will your bike thats stolen be on something like this?
If not why not?hrcmontyFree MemberThis is exactly the same as in the trials world, there is no form of way to check out stolen Bikes. It would be good if ALL Bike shops, developed some form of National Database of Stolen bikes. Somewhere we as buyers can check Frame numbers prior to purchase. Even more so when the prices of Mountainbikes are equal to a new Trials bike (Motor) and a small car!!!
Or make Smartwater compulsory on All New frames/forks/shocks.
JEJames, i hope you get it back. I’m sure you would Whytes arn’t exactly Common on the trails are they! and always turn an eye.
hrcmontyFree MemberPerfect, it will go in smoother than butter!!!
Sorry is that just what you want to hear haha.I’ve just put an FSA MX on my 456, and that was a little pain too.
How are you putting the headsets in, Tool wise?
The right tool is obviously best, as you need to pull the headset down square.
I got a length of rod M10 thread, a thick washer one end, and a thick washer the other, couple of M10 nuts, and clamped it all up. Oh and some grease on the faces of headset and headtube.
