Bike Point in either El Medano, or Las Americas always seems to come out favorably.

Not sure on your best way to do Teide, but I do know you can stick a bike in the hold on the buses over there, so may be tempted to bus part of the way up, to get away from the coast/busier areas at least.

Resort-wise, places like El Medano/Los Abrigos/Golf del Sur are the smaller resorts, bit close to the airport for my liking, but a few bars/restaurants etc. Las Americas is the ‘big’ resort full of hotels and lacking in any character. Los Christianos is just around the coast, and is large, but has more a ‘local’ feel, still a lot of hotels/apartments, but the town centre/bay etc are nice, with plenty places to eat/drink. Never been to Los Gigantes.

If you fancy going off road, Lavatrax (Darran) is great, plenty of routes, and a great guy to ride with.

@maccruisekeen – great advise, excess insurance cost us about £25 last year for a 15day rental

@trail_rat – taking photo’s is a great idea to cover yourself for the usual things like tyres/wheels and fuel, but what if you have an accident? you’re still going to pay the excess…

    Cheers

Yeah, saw this on the Saddleworth Mountain Rescue facebook feed and shared it.

I’ve lived in Saddleworth pretty much all my life, and until recently had never seen any deliberate obstacle/booby trap making. I was nearly caught out on Shadworth Lane (near the Royal George/Dysarts Arms) a couple of weeks back by a small ‘wall’ that was built across the track, being as this is a bridleway it seemed like a deliberate attempt to cause injury/stop use. Fortunately even though it was dark I had my portable sunshine on max and spotted in in time to stop, remove the obstacle and carry on…

I don’t ride and never have done in the plantation they’re on about, but I do run in there with the dog, so will be more vigilant now!

I hope it stops too now there’s been publicity, but I fear not.

I guess the DPI/PPI would vary from screen to screen depending on their max resolution, some laptop screens have relatively high max resolutions for the screen size as manufacturers want them to be capable of FullHD 1080p playback etc etc….

here’s a chart that compares PPI depending on size/resolution, it might help.

Don’t mock….. Mercedes A Class….. mine’s been ace for the last 30,000+ and servicing from independent specialists has been no more than for any other car I’ve had.

You’d get a newer shape 160 or 180 cdi engine for that bugdet.

    1999 Monaco GP.

Watched from the cheap seats on the hillside – awesome atmosphere, and noise, amazingly open track and pit area before/after the race and other sessions. Stunning amount of cash on show in terms or cars, people, yachts etc.

Great long weekends with a bunch of mates, too much beer and sun…. ace.

I think if you buy a new HT2 deore chainset it should come with a BB… might be worth checking with the place you order from.

How dry is it at the moment? being as we’ve had a fairly damp year so far, it should give you a good indication as to how damp it will get, if the existing brickwork/paint is damp but not wet then the paint might be enough to hold back any moisture, try putting a decent dehumidifier down there and see how much water it pulls, the next option would be tanking I guess, but think the floor would have to come up for that.

We had one at a previous house, that kind of paint, a small dehumidifier and a vent in the door at the top of the stairs meant I could keep bikes and gear down there no problem…. I did try not to take a wet/muddy bike into it

Not the most exciting place for MTB’ing but if you just wanted some fresh air and spin, head over to Tatton Park, there’s plenty grassy tracks to get lost on. Go spot a Deer or two and enjoy your over priced coffee mid-ride amongst the Barbour jackets of Knutsford.

I’ll be there in a week or two, having a single day ride with Darran (Lavatrax), it’ll be the second time I’ve been out there and done that. Great riding the 1st time, so no hesitations about rebooking.

I am looking into road bike hire for one or two other days as I’m happy enough to ride solo on the road, but consider it a bit risky going off piste on my own.

We’re with Argos (through a moneysupermarket search). They’ve been great so far with any claims.

All I would say is aim to get ‘lifetime’ cover on your pet, this will be helpful if it happens to have any ongoing conditions, some basic pet policies will stop covering conditions at policy renewal, lifetime cover should prevent this happening… saved my folks a fortune on a dog a few years back.

Sounds like your circa £30ish a month on the gym would be better spent on bike treats and warmer clothes.

I recently got some of these (£30 at go outdoors). Loving the warm knees in evening :)

I know this may sounds a bit trivial, but I’d recommend some decent socks too, there’s a company called ‘more mile’ that do good ones, they’re a more supportive on certain bits of your feet.

Still not worth it – it’s not that kind of device, and people don’t generally design their site with the kind of input the kindle offers in mind (i.e. 4 way arrow keys over mouse/touch screen input) just makes navigation a pain and not enjoyable.
