Yeah, I’ll be doing this, nice reminder for me to get the form in the post.

As mentioned above, on a similar level to the CVMBC, but seems to flow better, and includes a bash at the infamous pack horse trail into Marsden, which is worth the wait.

The cakes are great too ;-)

Tomorrow’s plan is riding from saddleworth over to Huddersfield to play/watch my company’s 6-a-side tournament, then back in time for a wedding evening do,

sunday will then involve riding to pick up my car from the wedding venue :-)

always wear one, doesn’t matter if I’m out for 15mins or 5hours, for road or off road

it’s not always going to be you that makes the mistake that means you need a helmet, especially if you’re doing a rush hour commute, seen too many near misses (and even a smashed windscreen and poorly looking cyclist) to consider not wearing one.

Best: Ferrari 355 F1, trackday thing, was amazing even kept it in a straight line in the wet :-)

Worst: Daewoo Matiz, was dropped off at work as a hire car I was supposed to drive with a boot full of stuff from sheffield to glasgow, needless to say I drove if straight to the hire company and told then where they could park it, and five mins later I drove off in a lovely Alfa 147 for nowt extra.

not sure how big the boot is, but initial photo’s show an integrated bike rack (presume an optional extra)

    looks good to me

Chalk up one more for the ‘got my flow on’ group, new trails, great ride, great company, and a lovely pub lunch to round it all off.

As TLH says, ask about a new one, I had to get a few bit’s for a focus after a minor knock and was very impressed by the cost, I’d be surprised if it’s more than £10-15 for that bit of trim

Cheers for that, I was thinking about a trip via royles for a quick drool. 8)

I live in Mossley (ashton/oldham area) had thought about riding from home via manchester centre which would make it about 25miles each way, but if it’s a scorcher that might not be too pleasant.

I’ll probably drive round to wilmslow/alderly edge and go from there across the lanes. similar route to you, like I said not too fussed for distance, good excuse to get out on the bike and see some nice cars

yeah it’d be tomorrow for me too, might take the darkside out as like you say it’s flatter than a flat thing down there.

hope this isn’t the start of a trend, but I’m bugging out too. been called in as a reserve on a charity 10k race on sunday. bit gutted to say the least!

Hope you all have a great day!

to be fair I know he’s a bit preachy at times but at least he’s trying to do some good with the influence he’s got.

they also seem to have a good laugh still, did you listen to the radio 2 stuff when they were in recently?

yup, older is better for sure, Rattle and Hum for me and Joshua Tree.

another 591 user here, done 100’s miles with mine on, minor wobble but nothing more I just tend to remove the seatpost for longer journeys and that seems to help.

it’s mounted on a fairly tall, thin & wobbly car too so it doesn’t get an easy ride:

I’m with coffeeking on this, the whole point of the scrappage scheme is to stimulate movement in the car sales market, not neccessarily to get people a better deal. If it has the side effect of getting old cars off the road/lowering average emmisions that’s just a bonus.

Sure a car that would have got you almost nothing will now get you £2000, but you can get a discount that big if not bigger off a lot of new cars anyway.

force of habit when posting pics of my car online, no other reason. seems to be a common thing to do on a lot of car forums, I guess to a point it stops number plate cloning (not that 1000’s of people can;t read it everyday on my way too/from work) :-)

have a look at the cover discs on some of the computer mags too, they often come with free photo editing software, I got my copy of paint shop pro off a cover disc and it’s easy to use, plenty options etc.

well, I can recommend the panda, I’ve got a 100hp one :) and it’s great, good fun, economical (especially the 1.2eco and 1.3 diesel). Unless you’re really limited on budget avoid the 1.1

you can get a bike in the back with both wheels off, or they’ve got the roof bar mounts ready to go, about £50 for the bars + whatever bike carrier you want.

bit of a different layout, but the wankel [snigger] rotary engine in the RX-8 comes with 230+bhp from a 1.3 litre engine, which is pretty impressive.

probably a bulk buy from CRC or wiggle will be best value, if you can wait and get free delivery.

I got three specialized tubes for a tenner from leisure lakes on the weekend, can’t really grumble at that.

I’ve got an ’08 trek top fuel 8, and find it fine for all kinds of riding, from pootling about, to bike marathon’s, to the odd bit of black run.

Excellent day/ride. finished in 3 hours 00 mins, I’m really pleased with that, considering all the climbing.

Nice one Chris, you’ve earned that pub trip, think you should head for the real ales, for post ride nourishment.

Thumbs up for everyone involved in the organisation, marshalling etc. Job well done.

looking forward to seeing how far down the list I was.

Cheers again for a great day out Chris (& the rest). And MrsMM, great soup and pre/post ride hospitality. And bunnyhop for the scones :-)

SFB: i’ll memory map the route and pop the pic up on tues, mainly added a bit more around Marsden as that was the start/end point.

    Hi Chris,

I’m still on for this, the bogtrotters route looks good, depending on flexibility/distance there’s some variations I could throw in being a ‘local’ and all.

Also worth adding that Hollingworth Lake has tea/coffee/cake/ice cream facilities so stick a couple of quid in for refreshments if needed.

I’ll be on the train to allow for Riverhead sampling afterwards. :D

    Cheers

I asked Andrea at the end of the ride, and I think she said around 25 miles.
