trek not exactly tucked away, it'll come out for longer/dryer days. on one for everything else if it's comfy enough.

I may live to regret all the white stuff, but my trek's no better I suppose.

the porn rug is to hide the hideous cheap carpet… it's a rented place!

Cheers for pointing out the skid mark… it's a blemish in stone at the side of the lovely range fire I've got :-)

it is indeed a 16" frame, I'm about 5'10" and it seems to fit fine.

    cheers for the nice comments…

and yes the white rims are for attention whores. Or for attracting attention when bike and rider are upside down in a peat bog!

    Little bump and update,

Recce ride completed yesterday, route sorted (if a little boggy in places).

To keep those who like a mid-ride refresher, the Royal Oak at Heights is indeed open at the approx passing time, and does nice beers and crisps :-).

Could you not just use the next gear down to make use of the lower ratios? Revving higher might affect MPG, but so will towing a trailer… And higher revs in the same gear is all you'd gain from smaller tyres/wheels.

I used to live in Thurgoland (just down the road). Penistone's OK but nothing special. Never really bothered drinking there, The Bridge & Green Dragon in Thurgoland are OK.

Bike wise there's some nice riding around the area, and Lex's is a good little shop.

Have you thought about Denby Dale? only an extra couple of stops on the Train, but an more villagey feel and there's an Aagrah there if you like your indian food.

So long as the rain is falling to earth rather than going sideways into your face it'll be more pleasant than last weekend.

AndyP, wrong side of the hill was suggested to mean that the riverhead is close by… it also gives a couple of nice downhill sections too. Jabs etc required, passport control in standedge cutting doesn't open until 10am, hence the early start!

Wow, I get the feeling we couldn't have chosen a worse date….

Open to all as always, riding to the pace of the slowest rider, and jelly babies galore!

Vague route is out of marsden in a meltham direction, over and down wessenden valley :-), up and over to saddleworth (castleshaw/larkhill/delph), up and over 5 ways, piethorne, back down packhorse for a muddy/rocky finish. Plans to add in a little more is we happen to get a crisp winters morn.

home and dry again now, heating on full blast… punctured bike in shed, still, at least it's nice and clean :-)

Cheers DeeJay for sorting out the route, shame we didn't get to ride it all. There's always next time.

Anyone else surprised nobody got a puncture on their way home?

I may be way off here, but I think triple chainsets mean long cage, double chainsets have medium cages, and single (1×9) get short. I guess there's enough give and take to mix and match a bit though

Not that an excuse is needed but, this is my parents new dog, he's a springer spaniel/poodle cross (springerdoodle) this was at 9 weeks old, apparenrtly the poodle cross makes them a bit calmer, easier to train and they hardly shed any fur.

    after 3, 1…2…3… aaaawhhhh

oh yeah, and he's called Dylan

Showing availability, and is on the right side of the city centre for the velodrome, although not very central if you were thinking about hitting the city on saturday night.

as mentioned above, get a elite bundle, HMV are doing a great one, £197 for elite, Forza 3 and fifa 10…

    Clicky Here

if you don't like fifa, trade it in… you'll probably get about £20 for it.

Microsoft are pretty good with this, and as long as the box hasn't been opened they usually extend the one year warranty to three – although not sure if it's original owners only…

IME it doesn't matter if you're first owner or not, I bought one second hand, and it died after about 6 months, registered it as dead on-line with microsoft (xbox live website), they picked up, replaced and dropped off again within a fortnight I think it cost £18, no trouble since.

Spotted: Wednesday night, Wainwright on tap in the Grassington House Hotel, Grassington…. it's a long way to go though (unless you can plan a ride that 'happens' to start/finish/require a pub stop there) :P

And yes it is a lovely pint!
