Narked, I'm in Mossley, ride Saddleworth area regularly if you want to head out for a ride…. or if you're about Sunday there's a forum ride/social thing starting in Marple that should be good.

Saddleworth? Park at Dovestones Res and head off up Chew valley, lovely up there, nice loop walks are easy enough to spot on OS maps

it's not just the frost, it's the demisting if you get a wet family/dog in the car too, you can pop it on & instead of having the heater on full whack to the screen, it can be point at your hands/toes!

    I'd say worth it!

I have a wander to get lunch, eat at my desk, and end up working most of my lunch break as I'll be the only one manning the phone/helpdesk. Still it's sunny(ish) and crisp here in Manc, and only 5 hours to go!

Roll on 6pm for post work drinkies and a weekend of biking!

Ah, but it's not a kit car, they were "produced" and sold as a car from a factory in the north east, about 350 built in total.

but yes, it does look like every other 70's kit car 🙂

So far I'd say the Fiat 127/128 or up it to a 131. or maybe….

My dad had one for years, great fun, easy to work on, and pretty nippy when modded. Now has one of these (imp based, so mechanically very similar), point for anyone that can name the make/model without cheating!

I'm running them at 203/185 on my on-one, as above, they seem to need bleeding fairly regularly, but they're plenty powerful enough.
Pads are very common if you need spares quick any half-decent bike shop should stock them.

    Hey guys,

Sorry it's taken so long. Cheers for an excellent ride, good to meet everyone. Great route even with the snow/walking on the up hill bits 😥

I've uploaded my pics here…. There's even photographic proof that Hora did turn up. If anyone wants a full res copy of any of the pics my emails in my profile.

    See you next time.

+1 for Ginger Beer, get a good one mind: fentimans, bundaberg; belvoir; fever tree.

I would say bivvy's a bit extreme, if it's a 14 mile loop we'll never be more than a handful of miles from the cars as the crow flies.

Just the usual kit should do, I'd also consider that the larger the group the slower it will be, so maybe think about sticking an extra layer in/on as there maybe some waits at gates.

oh, and +1 for the burger money 🙂

You don't happen to live around Mossley do you? I saw someone out on a very new look Boardman FS yesterday afternoon, it looked very smart.

    Nice purchase 🙂

Sounds like a popular ride… bit of house keeping from me:

    I'll…
    a) be there
    b) be on a hardtail (blue on-one)
    c) (fingers crossed) have two working brakes
    d) be somewhere around midfield with a bit of luck
    e) be answering to to either hp_source or Keith whatever.
    f) be looking forward to these now legendary burgers, and meeting you good folks

Looking forward to it, whatever the weather!

I had a 1.0s then upgraded to a 1.4 tdi Seat Arosa (basically the same car), it was good fun, very economical, and you can fit a reasonable amount in the back with the seats down. My mum also had 3 Arosa's all 1.4 autos, my Dad had a 1.4 16v Arosa…. I guess that's some kind of seal of approval 😆

Club Lupo is the place to go for info/tips etc, very friendly bunch over there, and the classifieds section is worth a look too.

I think Zamzar.com does this too, they'll email you when it's converted so you can download the new file.

depending on how long since you moved, QI could be worth a watch, or at the other end of the intellectual spectrum, 'the inbetweeners' is fantastic if a little crude!

Just a dusting on the cars and a thick frost in Mossley/Saddleworth too…

Stick a few layers on and it'll be a lovely riding day!

Just given them a quick google, neither appear to be directional (despite the look of the SZ90). You should be fine.

in terms of having the same tread on the front/back etc, it doesn't matter. IIRC the Honda NSX used to have 4 different tyres on it as standard… go figure 😕

I think I can make this too. 8)

Ton, singlehandedly keeping the bike industry out of recession once again!

Wasn't Reeth mentioned as venue for the next ride, or did I leave too early on Sunday to hear any final descision.

Avatar if you've got a local IMAX 3D, otherwise I think it'll be a bit disappointing.

Off the top of my head, betwys-y-coed has a train station and that's next to the Marin trail and about 4-5miles if that from Penmachno. I guess it's far from a direct route though.

Gisburn has a station too, although again I don't know how often/easy it would be.

:edit: just google mapped gisburn/the trail centre… it's a fair old ride away 😀

I think I'm free that day, the route sounds good… I only didn't do the las t one because of the lakes the day after 🙂

Excellent photo's Simon as always… in terms of the naming, I'm on the blue/white on-one heading down the slatey slope.

Leg's are just about recovered now too 😕

Cheers Gav and the other 'locals' for an excellent ride, some great ups, downs, and views. Nice to catch up with folks and meet newb's too.

Cracking day out all in all, and Lowey booked the good weather once again 8)

Looking forward to the next outing!

    Cheers guys,

I've just nipped out to my LBS and they reckon the rest is OK, so I've got a couple of sigma link things to replace it with. Fingers crossed it's a one off.

I reckon I'll send the pic to SRAM though, see what response I get. It did go out in the snow, but was then washed and stuffed in the shed so no real big temperature changes.

DJ – I should be fine for tomorrow with any luck! Cheers

Another for the Jazz, very flexible, comfy & reliable… and you can easily get two bikes in the back with just front wheels removed 😉

:edit: Just to add, I have heard that the new version (slightly less boxy) looses the completely flat folding seats in the back, that do make it very van like.

Apparently it only affects the non red ones, something to do with buying it in the wrong colour affecting the handling.

Same as DickBarton for me though my ferrari panda 100hp seems fine at the moment.

I had a set of hayes 9's on a 2004 kona from new until early last year, only ever changed the pads, had LOTS of big days out on them and had no issues. Far from the nicest looking but adequate power and cheap as chips really.

got Avid's on the current bikes (5's + 3's) and they've been fine so far too, bit squidy on the 5's but I think they need new seals.

for £130 a 456 is pretty much the only option I'd say… maybe a cheap CRC frame, or handsome dog from All terrain.

and I've got a 456 16" too, not too heavy, and a lovely bike to ride.
