I don’t believe so. The doctors think they can fix it permanently (same procedure Ton had). I’ve done 170k over the last 6 days but woke at 4.45am back in AF

I’ve already had good conversations with Ton! This will be my third cardioversion and I’m scheduled to have an ablation in the next few months.

I would say what your current remuneration package (covering all elements – bonus, LTIP, pension, health, car, etc). I would not say what you are looking for. If you’re in the ballpark they’ll interview. If they like You and vice versa, you negotiate at that point

A few years ago I found a car at a dealer in Scotland (I was in Salisbury at the time) with a few thousand miles on it. I paid my deposit. Just before I was due to go and collect it the dealership called and told me that, on checking the car, it had far more miles than they told me. They gave me a brand new car for the same price. I was impressed.

My wife subsequently drove into the back of another car in it at about 5mph and wrote it off…

I’m surprised that my HR is much lower while delivering more watts on the turbo vs on my bike. I will

See a genuine shoulder expert. There are not many around. I had long thoracic nerve palsy and was only fixed when I saw Kathleen Rooney at http://www.manchestershoulder.com. I also recommend http://Www.readingshoulderunit.com. If you’re near London then I can recommend specialists here too. Good luck

A quick question on sizing. I’m 6ft 1in with a 34″ inside leg. Do you reckon I’d be ok on an S type with the longer seat post (not the telescopic one)?

I’ve had two experiences in the last couple of months – one where I set out to chill and enjoy touring, which I didn’t end up liking

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/shameless-promotion-of-a-friends-article-on-cycle-touring

and one where I cycled up Mont Ventoux which turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve had to date on a bike

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/anyone-cycled-up-mont-ventoux

Both I did when I had 12 weeks off work between jobs. I’ve realised that I like speed and setting targets. Cycling has always been my meditation and I need distracting from everything else in my life by the pain of going fast.

    Each to their own!

Personally I wouldn’t get the Toupe Pro as a lot have been returned due to snapping mid saddle. The S Works is heavier as it has been reinforced in this area (and is 2x the price…)

Well I did it! I rented a bike and headed off early in the morning and went up via Bedoin. The biggest climb I’ve done before this was Macclesfield to The Cat and Fiddle (~400m), so the 1778m ascent from where we were staying was new territory. It proved not to be as hard as I expected – just find the right gear (34 x 28(!)) and keep spinning. It took 1hr 43m to summit and I felt fine. The descent and then the road from Malaucene to Bedouin was sublime. One of my best days cycling ever.

Well, I came home. Heavy cycle touring has joined fixie riding on the road as less enjoyable than renal colic…

I think one of the main problems is that, because the average speed is so much slower, there is a very different interaction with traffic. I had more near-misses in two days than I normally have in a month.

The Outer Hebrides would certainly be a nicer destination too.

I like 50% of the answers!

Yes, in my tent right now. I think it’s difficult to slow down when I’m used to going everywhere as fast as possible. Also it’s crap getting out of London – too much traffic.

I’m going to sleep on it

Bikebouy – the Look is a wonderful bike. I have an 11 year old Seven Axiom SL and I am surprised that the ride characteristics are similar. This is probably indicative of the Seven’s workmanship but also that the Look is comfortable even though I bought the super rigid version. The most noticeable difference for me is in seated climbing – I’m not a climber but I’m much quicker on the Look which is probably a combination of the lightness and the wheels.

The teething problems were down to the proprietary BB which needed sending back to Look to get the bearings changed and a bent derailleur hanger. Now both fixed. The proprietary bits (BB/crankset, stem and seatpost) are both great but also can cause issues.

The latest version of the 695, the Aerolight, has integrated brakes (looks great). None of the pro teams seem to be riding it as they’re a pain to set up. I see that Trek has gone back to a traditional rear brake on its latest bike too

After a few teething problems my dream bike is finally just that and is working beautifully

Well, it was my desire to buy a Look 695 that has a few proprietary components – the bottom bracket eventually needed sending back to the distributor to have the bearings replaced.

Can’t tell you the name of the shop that supplies carbon for children – my wife was pretty annoyed that we’re now down to one son but has eventually grown to appreciate the beauty of the Look…

Fair enough. I sold one of my children to buy the road bike of my dreams. It has had a few niggles. The LBS I bought it from suggested fitting a neoprene chainstay protector and various other half-hearted attempts at fixes. 2 other London shops also failed to get the bike properly set up. Not so Bicycle. They fixed it and went beyond what I expected. I recommend them and am pleased to say I also bought an HT from them last year.
