Thanks for your reply – how could cold water flow out fine and hot water not?

To answer your question, yes it is a separate unit with salt in it.

Thanks both. One thing I should have said is that her Father, who seems completely under the control of his wife, is ex-military, ex-police and is now a paramedic in the local area. Previously he did not engage and is now berating his daughter asking her why she cries all the time and that she should be more resilient.

Well, my Mother, Ollie, passed away this afternoon, two months off her 92nd birthday. My Sister and I held her hands and she died peacefully.

Here’s the link to the webinar I mentioned above:

    https://fourthfrontier.com/pages/frontier-heart-seminar?utm_source=klaviyo&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=fhs-recording

I found it very interesting. It pushes the Fourth Frontier heart monitor but is still helpful

I’ve just bought the Fourth Frontier (https://fourthfrontier.com/) heart rate monitor as it takes a continuous ECG while exercising. I’ve not yet used it so can’t comment on its usefulness.

This is all super helpful – thank you. My Mother can’t use any self administered alarms as her dementia is quite far progressed. She’s not far off hospice care and we’re trying to preserve her quality of life/happiness by being at home for as long as possible.

It’s a difficult call and dementia is an absolute b*****d

No doubt there’s a law of diminishing returns with hifi (as there is with bikes). I’ve moved up from an AT95E through a variety of cartridges to a Lyra Helikon which, at the time, was their cheapest option. The more expensive I’ve gone, the less obvious the imperfections on the record and the more intricate the detail retrieved.

I posted this thread yesterday as I’m keen to hear other systems:

HiFi – listening to other systems

Years ago I listened to a super expensive set up with a Nakamichi Dragon amongst other exotica. The owner loved the sound but I felt I was listening through a blanket – each to their own!

Yes, but they’re probably not into bikes hence why I’m trying on here

@martymac – which brand of tablets do you take? There are so many providers it’s difficult to work out which actually work

I’ve been following this thread for ages but not posted. There are some beautiful watches and I like the mix from Casio through esoteric.

    Mine are below:

    The Omega was my Father’s.
The pre ‘Tag’ Heuer was bought for my 11th birthday 40 years ago. I’ve had a different mechanism fitted as Tag would not service it.
I think my Panerai is my favourite but enjoy wearing the Rolex and Sinn too.

Yes, been there and I feel for you. The most painful thing I’ve ever had (the stent) and I’ve had a few painful things.

It was three years ago when I had mine. Took a few weeks for the discomfort to subside and I recall doing some rides but didn’t really feel in the mood.

    Good luck!

I got 3500m of ascent. I was 7th from last in the 200km. Clearly partying at the back 🤣

The toughest day I’ve ever had on the bike. The midges were a welcome distraction!!

I got my full license over 20yrs ago and didn’t get a bike. Started using a 300cc Vespa a few years ago and love it.

Did a refresher motorbike day last Sept with the intention of buying an R1250GS and ended up with a Triumph Bobber as I fell in love with the looks – couldn’t me more different! Totally impractical but I come back with a huge grin after every ride.

I think a Triumph Bonneville is possibly a good call if you like the Ducati Scrambler. Clutch is very forgiving and they sound great.

If you’re riding a lot which I have done you very quickly get used to the bike and start thinking what next….

@TheFlyingOx – the combination was used to cardiovert me and I crashed after I left A&E and came to the cardiac ward. When I passed out by BP was 22/17 and falling as was my HR at 25bpm. According to my wife people ran out of the ICU and injected me with various drugs. I did recover very quickly. My understanding is that a small minority of people can’t tolerate the combination.

I developed AF in 2015 (aged 44). Had both electrical and pharmacological cardioversions to get me back into sinus rhythm. Had my first ablation in Aug ’15. Went in via the groin. I had no haematomas which I hear can be an issue in recovery. I was back on a bike within 2 weeks and was symptom free for approx 18 months. I did find that my RHR went up and got many more ectopic beats but it didn’t affect my cycling and I rode 12k km in 2016. Symptoms began to return in 2017 and I ended up having another ablation in May ’18. Again no issues with the op and recovery was swift. No symptoms since then and I cycle a lot. I have, however, decided to stay on beta blockers (Bisoprolol) to minimise the likelihood on the AF returning – although I’m now beginning to think about coming off them as I’m a less capable cyclist on them and they also make me feel cold!

My ops were in Charing Cross hospital which has a fairly cutting edge electrocardiology set up. I’d had another ablation willingly if necessary. I did have a scary experience on flecainide/beta blockers and needed to be resuscitated but was in a cardiac ward at the time so had plenty of attention – wouldn’t recommend that experience…

    Good luck in your choices!

How senior are you? It may happen if you’re going to the senior management team but wouldn’t expect it at a more junior level.

I’ve got Ritchey WCS VentureMax and enjoy them a lot.

I picked up a new bike yesterday and had Redshift Kitchen Sink bars fitted. Too early to have formed a view but they’re really comfortable – especially with their add on ergo extras.

I’m picking up an M340i estate in just over a week. It’s taken about 5 weeks from spec to delivery. It seems to tick a lot of your boxes.

I wrote this in a different thread yesterday:

A few weeks ago I wrote about an altercation I had with an extremely aggressive bus driver. I followed up and eventually found out who the operating company was (it was a London red double decker). After an email exchange with the MD I had confirmation that the driver in question was fired. I’ve never previously had to resort to complaining but, in this instance, if I’d not stopped cycling I would have been run over so I felt that the appropriate outcome happened.

I had a PE in Dec ‘13 following a flight. Had an unprovoked thigh clot in March ‘18. Turns out I’m likely to have an autoimmune condition and am on Rivaroxaban for life (10mg). I live life normally and have not changed how/what I ride. I do find a feel the cold more now – the only obvious side effect for me

Well, I have been really pleasantly surprised at the response. The police followed up the complaint and talked to TfL. I found out it was a private company operating a train replacement service. Found the MD on LinkedIn and wrote to them. Received a response within 2 hours saying the driver has been suspended and that they take all allegations of compromising and dangerous driving very seriously.

It’s the first time I’ve ever had to report a driver even though I ride 8km+ annually in and around London. It shook me up and I’m glad it’s being dealt with.

Thanks all – I’ve reported to police and TfL. The witness turned out not to be a witness for my incident as he said he did not see it even though he was right behind me. I, however, am a witness for him as the bus driver cut him up very badly about 2 mins after me and gave him a tirade of abuse. Let’s see what happens

None of it is cosmetic – wiring, ignition etc. Insurance excess is £300 so I don’t think it’s worth claiming given likely premium that would add to the Triumph.

I’m happy with the outcome – well, happy is not the right word!

Master key for Vespa found. Garage reckons £500 to repair. So, I’m not claiming on insurance and will sort directly.

    Thanks all for your help
