It takes all sorts I suppose , just trying to remember if you ever owned a Marin.?

Yeah, I did as it happens…

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder and I do gather that there’s photies and videos of other ladies on the internets but they’d never look after you as healthily as Hannah. 8)

househusband: What did you end up buying as a replacement for the APF10?

As an interim measure I bought one of these:

    https://www.cromwell.co.uk/shop/personal-protection-and-clothing/respirators-reusable-masks/product/p/MMF9598368L

I do use it only when sanding and turning more toxic woods such as laburnum. I do also have an Axminster Trade dust/chip extractor with 1micron filter next to the lathe with 100mm suction hose close to the tool rest, and a MicroClene (company folded soon after I bought it!) filter above the lathe – hope to get a Record Power AC400 as a replacement when they come up on offer around Christmas time!

Long-term I’ll probably get a 3M Versaflo. Did look at the Trend Airshield Pro but its heavy.

MDF Is the devil’s spunk so I wouldn’t dick around cutting corners by getting something cheaper that doesn’t have the appropriate filtration.

And I’d still wear a suitable mask!

(Have become more aware of levels of dust filtration, etc., having recently bought an Axminster APF10 mask and then find they fibbed about its capabilities; this was a recent thing amongst much of the woodturning community in the UK. Was returned for refund having raised a dispute with PayPal.)

@fifeandy @mr_stru There’s so much more to the Leuchars and Tentsmuir area than parking at the main FC car park and riding along the forest roads – I seldom touch them when I ride through!!!

Train to Leuchars and then a lap of Tentsmuir..? Combine with a tour and tasting at Eden Mill distillery and brewery.

Can suggest somewhere to park other than the FC car park in Tentsmuir itself if you want to get further off the beaten track; PM me or email me – in profile.

Contacting Seasucker Europe about 12mm through axle mounts, they confirmed that they ended distribution in the u.k, due to discounting.

I never even knew that SeaSucker did a 12mm TA mount; I asked them a year ago and they said they didn’t but suggested Hurricane Components – and they don’t either…

So SeaSucker have dropped distribution in the UK???

Walnut oil – keep it artisan, craft and natural. Assuming she doesn’t have any nut allergies, of course.

Seriously; its one of the few natural polymerising oils besides tung and a few others. I’m an occasional woodturner and use it for bowls.

Not necessarily. A hard rubber tyre will be noisy, but potentially has less friction…thus could be more efficient.

Aah… but if there’s less traction gained (all important as an MTB tyre) as it has less friction doesn’t that make it less efficient? Just a thought.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the cups weren’t made in the same factory?

Nope – “Our products are MADE IN THE USA! “

That article on the Spurcycle bell was interesting reading!

no way would I use a sucker system for a bike rack

I’ve had a Seasucker Talon for three years and it hasn’t let me down once. I’ll admit that it is a great leap of faith using it for the first time but the suction cups are immensely powerful.

davidxbrown; personally I’d go Seasucker. Their suction cups have a failsafe band on the vacuum pump that only becomes visible if a cup starts to lose suction. Not cheap, but what’s the value of the bikes it’ll be carrying?

Oh, and it’s £350 here – and 5% on Quidco until midnight:

    https://www.probikekit.co.uk/cycling-accessories-nc/seasucker-mini-bomber-fork-mount-rack-with-2-rear-wheel-straps-2-bikes/10946230.html

(Got my Talon from them on offer when it was promotion; £250 down to £150)

EDIT: Aah, bollocks – sold out.

Been running the very same tyre, tubeless on DT Swiss R24 Splines on and off road for several months.

They’re 18mm internal and I’ve survived… albeit slowly as Scotroutes will testify.

Yah, have to say I’ve not used CO2 on this tyre at all.

Aah – sorry, reread from top and didn’t see the different tyre bit!

    househusband

It’s the CO2. I’ve had exactly the same happen so talking from experience.

(If a tyre does need a shot of CO2 to pop the bead onto the rim I only do it without sealant; deflate once sealed and reinflate and deflate again to purge CO2 and then add sealant through the valve.)

    http://www.tweekscycles.com/components/road-bike-wheels/dt-swiss-r24-spline-disc-brake-wheels

£230 And includes valves, tape and every adapter you’ll ever need. You may be able to find an online discount code for Tweeks.

I’ve got two sets of these and they’ve proven to be very reliable on-road and some ‘gravel’ type off-road.

I’ve just googled them and they’re several hundred pounds… you want them for your commute/crappy weather bike..? I’m confused.

But there are cheaper road disc bolt-through tubeless wheelsets out there, perhaps marginally heavier.

Rockport with Adiprene soles. Spend much of my working day on my feet, often on hard workshop floor and have sworn by them for several years now.

(Usually get mine from Amazon as they have a huge selection.)

They soon got banned at my school, thank goodness. This really sums up what the 2016-17 school session in Scotland brought is:

First it was bottle flipping, then ‘dabbing’ and then fidget spinners at my school. Wonder what 2017-18 will bring us!

I bought a pair last week… not bothered about the colour. Not too much, anyway… but they’re a bargain!

    How do they size up?

I’m a size 9/43 for shoes but for Shimano bike shoes I’ve always bought 45’s.

If of any interest I’ll probably be selling a 57cm Ritchey Road Logic frameset in a while; mint condition as I’ve only ridden it a dozen times or so – reluctant sale but I can’t justify keeping it as I ride another bike primarily and I want to change to a disc brake frameset.

It sucks getting a dent in your car – especially the first/only. At the end of the day it is only cosmetic and you are bound to notice because you know its there; but the paint doesn’t appear to have been compromised so long-term corrosion shouldn’t be an issue. Repair likely to be costly as the metalwork has been deformed so won’t pop back into shape..?

Drove my old Tamya dune buggy into a rock pool on the beach when I was a kid. Never worked after that!

You want a crawler for that!

This was a video a mate made of us playing around with a crawler several years ago – R/C cars was a middle-aged phase I went through… still have a couple of cars and all the kit.

I like VeloFlex Master’s, had them on my best bike for a while and loved them, fast, light, grip well, look pimp, everything you need.

After thinking that GP4000’s were the world I bought a pair of VeloFlex Open Corsa 25’s after a suggestion on here ages ago. I’m not a big roadie by any means but there is a palpable difference to their suppleness and feel.

Is it not a reasonably heavy frame as a starting point..? Especially if you have the Singular steel forks too…

A good review – I’ve got the Elite. Glad I got it when I did as it has gone up to £1750 now from the original £1500. Got mine on bike2work and even got a surprise discount from the LBS.

The cup and cone hubs came with very nearly zero grease in…

Will check on that – thanks for the ‘heads up’.

As it is 12mm bolt through both ends, it’s trickier finding some reasonably priced replacements…

Yeah. there’s not many out there that have the 12mm at the front; I’ve got the DT Swiss R24 Spline DB and they can be found for around £200. Transformed the bike!

What makes you think that the RX830’s and the 32mm Gravel Kings won’t work tubeless? I’ve got the 32mm Gravel King SK’s and they work tubeless perfectly; my understanding is that pretty much all of the larger Gravel King tyres are tubeless whether stated or not.

Hang on… Aren’t all the 32mm versions the SK? If so I can’t see why it should be work as the RX830 is a tubeless wheelset.

And I run at about half that pressure and I’m 90kg plus!

After washing leave to dry in direct sunlight; the UV rays can help kill the bacteria that cause the smells.
