Do we get a red alert, just like last week’s weather?

Someone warm up the Vulcan bombers….

Sainsbury’s would be more orange and violet, no?  And seeing, and indeed hearing, Vulcans in the sky would probably make more of Britain happy than any news of late…

My sister, who lives in Ford, says that Sainsbury’s has been closed off…

One of the physics teachers at school got making vortex tube paper planes with kids just before Christmas so when they came down to the techie department I figured we might as well just carry on where they left off – does need straws too.

    Absolutely.

As someone with Type 1 diabetes mine only lasts three years and whilst I don’t have to resit the test each time I do have to reapply for my licence and I wouldn’t have a problem resitting the test when I get to a certain age; I believe that a retest at, say, 70 should be mandatory – if not sooner.

Just had Amazon deliver two bottles of Bowmore No.1 at £22.90 a bottle… should keep me going for a week or two!!!

And, if you haven’t already seen it – ‘Spectral’ on Netflix…

    Where is it?! 🙂

Well it is remarkably similar to the woodland opening scenes in ‘Gladiator’… I could well be wrong!  (Some Googling would suggest that they were filmed geographically reasonably close.)

Quite enjoyed that!  Watched it after seeing this post.

A very familiar filming location that woodland…

@househusband, are those names because they feel the need for speed?

    @Onzadog
    – We realised that after we’d named Goose!  We went for a walk four years ago once we’d decided to get a dog and discussed names; a goose went after me on the walk and I threw it in there as a suggestion.  However, when we got the first pup (Charlie) we realised the name didn’t work with his fawn colour so we names him after my wife’s late Father.  A year or two we later we got the blue whippet pup and Goose really works for him!

Agree that ‘American Dream’ isn’t them at their best BUT it does have one stand-out track for me – ‘How Do You Sleep’.

    Condolences from us all, Mog.

    This is Charlie…

    …and this is Goose!

umop3pisdn – The before and after pics you’ve posted put a huge smile on my face!

Stop over at Badrallach and ride out to Scoraig..?  Rather nice singletrack out to this wee community inaccessible by road.

I do… three sets if you include the wheelset that came with it.

Specialized Sequoia Elite (last Cyclescheme payment just paid!) wheelset weighs a ton and I dropped several hundred grams on each wheel by buying some DT Swiss R24’s; had a limited choice as at the time there were few wheelsets that offered 12mm at the front.

Put Panaracer GravelKing SK 35’s on them, tubeless, and found that I was enjoying the bike so much that I bought the same wheelset again and have Mavic Yksion Elite Allroad tyres on them, tubeless again.

We’ve had a Bosch induction for several years now and I’m a convert – not that we have a choice as there’s no gas in the village we moved to.  So easy to keep clean, just (and this did come as a pleasant surprise) as controllable as gas.  Timer function useful too.

Any pan with a ferrous base will work; most of ours are IKEA.

£110 Is a great price for a Firewall!  I paid £160 and thought that was a bargain.

I’m a big fan of Rab but do find the sizing a bit random…

Another IKEA 365 user here; no issues at all, and I’ve never been shy using the ‘Boost’ button and we’ve also got a couple of IKEA TROVÄRDIG pans in different sizes – they’ve all been used and abused for four and a half years.

Personally I’d also look at the Xiaomi A1 (~£150 I think). Xiaomi are good hardware for a good price and are huge in India n China and are moving into western markets. The A1 is on the Android One programme so is stock Android.

Thanks, chvck.  Just ordered the A1 on eBay from a seller in Ireland, black version for £168.95.

I’ve had an Honor 5C for just over a year and have been pleased; that’s also got a (reasonably stock) Android so minimal interference.

It is pants compared to the ‘old one’ as you can’t filter by date, forum, etc., but I have the utmost faith that, in time, it shall be restored to its former glory…

Another vote for the NEBO Big Larry as suggested by TheDTs; very powerful, very robust and the magnet is immensely strong!

(I need a powerful LED inspection lamp for gauging wall thickness when woodturning hollowforms and deep vessels…)

We’re in Aviemore now. It’s a bit damper and milder than it was yesterday but wherever you go the biggest hazard will be previously ridden and compacted snow that’ll have turned to ice.

    I think I get some STW kudos on the last point;
    – Pizza
    – A nice Shiraz
    – Telly
    – Had two pints of Erdinger in Aviemore with Scotroutes / Druidh / Onion and then a whisky back at ours

They looked so wrong when I saw them at Oktoberfest… oh how I changed my mind after trying them! It’s a root vegetable so will also count toward your five a day…

I thought it was down to the chalk that was once added to build up dog food..?

Raw food fed dogs tend to the most minimalist, healthy turds around. (At least ours when they were fed on raw tripe…)

Can only echo what trail_rat has said! Mine’s a 50yr old Union that I’m looking after for the next generation; was 440V 3ph but now running using a Mitsubishi inverter and VFD so I have full speed control, reverse and jog – should I ever need them.

So much quieter and smoother than even the £400 Axminster Trade drill I bought new last year.

Do people seriously “eye up” a pair of trousers for years without buying them?

You’ll be telling me next you’ve never eyed up a bicycle next… or a girl/boy*.

Gonna have to watch it again tonight as that episode was crazy. Too much to take in at the end. In fact I might just start again from the start.

Ditto – was thinking that just this morning!

Are we doing spoilers on here?

I’d prefer it if there wasn’t!

Another vote for the Lenovo Tab 4 Plus 8″. Two arrived last week and I’m mighty impressed; very clean Android with minimal, if any noticeable, Lenovo bloatware.

Would men be happier than women in accepting transgender / intersex / gender fluid people into ‘their’ spaces than women, I wonder..?

Now we have pupils at secondary school (the school at which I teach does) that identify as the above it is going to make for interesting times..!
