    Escape Route in Pitlochry?

EDIT: Maybe not, I thought they used to do stuff for various outdoor sports and activities… perhaps not now.

It’s no loss to you, not unless Equitrek have seriously upped their manufacturing and quality control… we went to look at them at the nearest dealer with a view to Mrs hh buying a new one.

    We soon walked away.

Not lurchers I’m afraid; our two – you did mention whippets!

Had them both from puppies; Goose on the left will be two in August and Charlie was three in May.  They’re are a good size for being able to get at least some space on the sofa.  Echo above comments regards being lazy and sleeping around 96.3% of the time.  Clean, affectionate, think we’ve done okay training them…

I’ve never had dogs before and never want to be without one.  Would love to get a larger sighthound sometime, ideally a rescue grey – or even a podenco or galgo.

Largest collection is, sadly enough, seemingly Singletrack magazine; have every copy since (just checked) issue 17 in 2004.

Aside from that; woodturning and woodworking tools and more recently MIG welding and metalworking tools.

Typing this with a Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus.

I bought two (one for me, one for Management) in January when John Lewis had them on offer for £150ea down from £200ea.  I’m very pleased with them; regular Lenovo and Android OS updates, a reasonably vanilla Android too, stable and fast enough for my needs.  Have a 32GB card in mine.

I’m a clumsy fecker and have a Bobjgear bouncy silicon rubber case for it as would otherwise be teflon coated in my hands.

I really enjoyed ‘Den of Thieves’ – reminded me a bit of ‘Heat’, a slow-burning film – it is quite long!  I see that there’s a ‘Den of Thieves 2’ in the pipeline too, according to IMDB.

If you work for a company it can be very easy to become so detached from where the money is actually earned you find it hard to appreciate where self-employed tradesmen need to make theirs from.

    Buy German, get a Touareg.

Depends what you want it for, if you want to tow with it and whether you’re buying new or used; my wife looked seriously at a used Touareg (1yo from dealer) before deciding on the Disco and was quoted £2.5k to add tow hitch and the enhanced cooling pack.

I need to show my wife this.

She has a Disco that’s coming up for four or five years old now and it’s had a few hefty bills over the last year or so and has mentioned replacing it… I’ve suggested looking at alternatives but she’s stuck on LR as there’s a large dealer in the nearest town several miles away and it is handy having when something goes wrong.  I need to remind her again of the irony in this logic…

I’ve tried to make her at least look at a Landcruiser!

(Horse, large horsebox, etc., so needs the towing capacity.)

Aww bless!  Now that you’ve bestowed him with a name he deserves at least some kind of Viking funeral… albeit one where he isn’t actually dead.  Yet.

Puppies are better fanny magnets than babies and supercars combined!

Very true, as I’ve found walking mine around St Andrews.

For a while the whippets were getting raw tripe, thawed from frozen, they loved it and they had the healthiest and most minimal jobbies ever.  But the smell was rank…

We found this place and ended up eating there a few times, the prices were so reasonable that we even had a few drinks.  Also had a whale steak… a once in a lifetime thing never to be repeated.  This was about ten years ago, hopefully hasn’t changed much.

Aww – lovely!  Ours grew up and then out but not at the same time.

Just give it to your local pharmacy, they handle the whole thing, ordering the repeat automatically, collecting the prescription from your surgery. I just get a text from Boots saying your prescription is ready for collection and pop in on my way home from work to collect it.

Local pharmacy is several miles away so why create extra work for myself and Boots when I can do it all electronically!  The text system from Boots is great.

Pyrography..?  Just a thought.  Could even use a soldering iron.

Yup, use it all the time.  Also, and as someone with a chronic medical condition (Type 1 diabetes in my case) I need repeat prescriptions every three or four weeks, being able to submit requests for them online is a godsend.  Can normally get an appointment within a week, often less.

I wonder if GP practices in Scotland might be ahead of the game on this..?

White Fiat Uno C146 WLC, circa ’91..?  Gear lever broke after two weeks of ownership.  Engine was bulletproof, just the car rotted away around it…

That was disappointingly not as metal as I’d hoped… However Finland looking good on the boots and thighs front.

Have just bought a Norrona falketind PrimaLoft60 jacket; have no experience of their clothing so hope I’ve bought the right size!  Wanted something light and compact but not down.

    Thanks for the link, drlex.

Haven’t done much woodturning over the last several months thanks to tennis elbow, haven’t even ridden a bike this year… but spent a few hours at the lathe this morning – a small winged bowl from yew:

@househusband- so have I, along with a few others. He’s just finished the 4th & final in the series which is possibly the saddest but loveliest of the lot.

    Thanks for that; will order!.

    mines making pooping an artform.

couple of days ago he waded out into the sea until he was oxter deep, then stood there pooping and staring at me.

yesterday he waded out to an island in the river and pooped there. Again, staring at me the whole time.

I read that dogs feel at their most vulnerable whilst pooping so look to their owners for reassurance.

Ours (whippets) just look incredibly odd as they draw all four legs parallel so wobble back and forth…

Drizabone; I’ve got their Brumby jacket – bought it in Perth WA fifteen years ago but almost forgot I have it; took it off the hanger a few months ago and have been wearing it regularly since.  Had forgotten how windproof waxed cotton is!

The mentioned bit St Andrews to Boarhills – is that unfriendliness from the golfers or the caravan park?

No, not at all – its the coastal path itself.  Rocky paths on the side of steep terrain; you’d be carrying the bike.

I don’t mind paying the import duties… it’s the ridiculous administration fees that the Royal Mail at Mount Pleasance that I find objectionable.  Some sellers abroad are better than others and may be able to dispatch using a duty prepaid service.

I know you said no dogs, but have you considered giving a home to a retired racing greyhound? All the ones I have ever met are docile and just want to spend as much time as they can sleeping.

Aye!  And surprisingly clean, don’t need as much exercise as you may fear… but you’d need a spare sofa.
