The UST versions will be the most robust, or try a DH inner tube; they’d be much the same weight!

Blackspire big ring protector covers all 3 rings.

And the weight (I’ve got one) is not inconsiderable; I’d look at 24/36/bash instead.

HiTec Magnum’s – an ex-gf of mine (a copper) swore by them.

Have had the same experience as Kuco; tired of bending X9 rear mechs so went back to Shimano when SLX came out.

I’m 6’2″ and 14.5st, have Type 1 diabetes, and a few units of insulin eather way before a meal can make a difference between going hypo or hyper a few hours later… one unit of insulin is 1/100th of a millilitre!

I want to keep the Maxle system so am restricted to RS.

Don’t think you are restricted to RS… don’t Magura use the Maxle system?

Shock bushings were replaced with the heavy duty polymer set from TFTuned.

Main pivot bearings (behind the bottom bracket) are 4 x 61802 2RS, and I bought a couple of sets from eBay for £1.50 ea – will see how the cheap ones last compared to the original Enduro bearings.

Based on riding once or twice a week since last May/June. Am heavyish at 15st+ with kit so lighter riders may fare better.

Must admit that it was the bargain price I got my ML frame for that was a deciding factor; may also have considered the 5-Spot if budget hadn’t. Both nice frames.

is fat treads still trading then as …’Axel imports’ down south somewhere are now imports for Titus…

Fat Tread were the UK importers until sometime last year when Titus the import gig was poached by Axel, an offshoot of Bikelab in Poole – at least that’s my understanding, and I do stand to be corrected. Fat Tread have been selling off their remaining stock since.

I bought mine from Fat Tread (very helpful) last summer and have been very pleased with the frame, apart from bending mech hangers – but then that’s more down to my buffoonesque riding. Have changed the shock bushings as they went a couple of months ago, and the main pivot bearings went just this weekend – am waiting for new bearings to arrive from eBay. Mine’s built up with coil Pikes, XM819 rims and UST tyres so isn’t particularly light. But then I’m not exactly dainty, just want stuff that’s reliable and robust.

Bolle do some very fine safety glasses, I’ve got a few pairs myself. Something like these on eBay. Think I bought off that seller last time.

Have some Thor gloves; they’re a bit dayglo in appearance but are very well made and have lasted and washed well. Very sturdy, pretty much top of the list for what I want from a glove.

Many shops in Scotland sell one made from neem (I think) oil – that’s worked well for me in the past.

Frame? I like certainly. Price? I dislike almost certainly.

Ditto. Assume that it’s a Ti frame?

(And therefore gonna be outta my budget!)

Is there anyone left on STW who hasn’t posted their mugshot yet?

Yup. Myself and Mrs hh on holiday last summer, Loch Insh – where we’d scattered her Fathers ashes back in 2002:

Can’t be bothered trawling other folks’ pics for pics of me on a bike!

Whatever happened to that girl who was trying to blag a freebie off Alpine Bikes in Edinburgh because she had no money on her…

Remember* that one well! IIRC she was commuting, had a meeting to go to, had a puncture on the way but no pump/puncture repair kit/cash on her, stopped off at an Embra bike shop and was aghast at not being given/lent a pump and repair kit at the bike shop that her husband had once used…

If you do return them direct to Endura be sure to ring up first to get a returns number, else whatever you send back will hang around ‘in limbo’ until you ring up wondering where it is.

Not ridden bit I’ve spent some time, albeit more coastal and back in the early 90’s, in the Split area and there should be some great XC riding to be had. I remember walking up from Split into the hills/mountains behind it and being very impressed – even war-ravaged as it was at the time. I’d certainly go back, preferable with a mountain bike.

Stick with 819/823’s on your preferred hubs for ease of maintenance and spares/spoke availability should you go abroad, etc..?

Agree with TJ’s, and others, sentiments that working dogs should be given some latitude, but I’d still report the matter to the police – you never know; this may not be the first time this has happened.

If you’re a Craft & Design teacher don’t blow sawdust away with your eyes open when using a tenon saw to cut a through housing joint.

Especially not when giving a demonstrating to an entire class.
