Another vote for 2 Wheel Care in Pitscottie.

Just a suggestion but try turning on your tablet’s GPS.

I had problems with my Kurt Kinetic trainer pairing with any device until Kurt suggested it; they can’t keep up with platform updates. I pointed out that this wasn’t on their online support and they acknowledged that their online support can’t keep pace:

‘The location tracking is a fairly new issue, hence it not being everywhere in our marketing yet. Apple and Android updates always seem to give us some consternation.’

If it worked for me it may for you.

    @savoyad

I like my Panaracer Gravelking SK. I should have got 35 in hindsight, but I have ridden 32s on terrain like k1100t’s picture (a few times, never entirely intentionally) and they were surprisingly OK. I had the opposite experience to StefMcDef though – the Panaracers slipped pretty easily onto a rim which had been a knuckle-destroying nightmare with the stock tyres I was replacing.

Yes, I’ve used nothing but Gravel King SK’s for years on different size wheels and they’ve always worked tubeless flawlessly. Having switched to 650b wheels on my ‘gravel’ bike I found at the weekend the 1.9″ GK’s performance in conditions like @k1100t experienced gets much better with lower pressures. I was down to 25R/20F – and I’m 95kg.

Are you thirsty more than previously, lost any weight – pins and needles anywhere..?

(Above would suggest diabetes but in any case, yeah, GP.)

If only Vittoria offered the Terreno Wet in a 650b in a 47 to 50 width…

It was actually a private Facebook group for woodturners, not an open forum – sorry! I can see later if I can perhaps find the PayPal dispute and give you the technicalities.

I had the Axminster you’ve linked to a couple of years ago but it was revealed on a woodturning group that Axminster were exaggerating its dust ingress protection and several of us managed to get refunds, in my case only throught raising a PayPal dispute.

I replaced it with the 3M Versaflo system which besides offering much better protection and dust ingress rating takes the weight on your hips and is far less tiring. Whilst expensive at RRP I picked up mine as separate parts on eBay for £400. So comfortable I’ve tried to scratch my nose or raise a mug of tea whilst wearing it.

    Trend also do one.

I’ve never been tempted before but STW’s review of the Amazfit T-Rex has got me curious… seemingly no UK stock or sellers as yet.

@kayak23 Thank you! Coming from you (I know your background) that’s a massive compliment.

That’s what I love about TIG; no splatter at all! I do have a habit of using flap discs to remove all the mill scale before cutting and welding for smaller projects, hence the shiny finish.

@househusband – I came here for workbench ideas. How much for welding lessons?!

Play your cards right @jimmy and you might get a nice stool sample…

Finished this evening; laminated and woodturned iroko (old science lab bench) seat and TIG welded box section frame. Was thinking about painting it but I like the purty colours that the welding process leaves so may just spray in a clear lacquer to stop any rust.

A FEMI bandsaw if 50mm box is your maximum, though they’ll cut twice that. Clean and straight cuts, no shards fired everywhere, safer than a slitting disc on an angle grinder.

We’re in a wee village several miles outside St Andrews, several friends and neighbours work or have worked or have retired from the uni! Plenty of ‘gravel’ in Fife if you look for it; if and when I do ride a bike (seldom these days) that’s all I do.

Get in touch if you ever need somewhere to crash for a night if you want to visit the area and get a feel for it.

What @trail_rat hasn’t said here is that he was filling his baby’s hot water bottle; as I said to him on Facebook a few days ago… far better your foot than the fruit of your loins.

After looking at Fjallraven I bought a couple of pairs from this company; very good quality, made for tall, lithe people rather than chubby Northern orcs like me. Some of the website is a bit Flouro-Euro but the trousers are good at what they do with sensible pockets and quality stitching. You can do the whole waxing and heating for more water resistance on the waxable bits.

I have gone through decades without being sentimental, but I just watched a pretty sentimental film about a dog with my kids, and I am glad the lights were off.

‘A Dog’s Way Home’ by any chance?

Get in touch with Govan Optometrists and see what they can do them for; you might be surprised – normally a third off RRP.

I’ve been using Altberg army boots for a few years now, also the Meindl desert boots in drier weather. I’ve just received a pair of Karrimor SF boots (new, £39 delivered) from eBay, I’d not heard of them until a few weeks ago; another contract boot for the Army with Vibram sole, Goretex and Thinsulate liner and they’re an inch or two higher up the leg than the Altberg. More of a wet and cold weather winter boot.

I know that teachers have in from time to time been vilified on here for announcing that they are teachers, unlike any other job or profession – they just keep it to themselves.

So, I’m a teacher… and we recently had an assembly in which the community copper pointed out that if the phone is a contract phone then you have to be eighteen to have the contract in the first place, so it will therefore be in their parents or guardians name… so they have a large degree of responsibility. This came as a surprise to most, teachers with children themselves in particular.

Had a recent community incident involving a supposed indecent image and indeed the only person that could view the image was the police. GDPR Does indeed prevent teachers looking at pupils phones.

If it were down to me I’d ban them entirely for pupils at my* school as they cause more stress and anxiety for both pupils and staff, far more than could be offset than could be offset by using them for educational purposes.

    * Other schools may hopefully have have management with the spine to instil discipline… it has to come from the top and the classroom teachers at my school are at our wits end.

I’ve had this Record No. 6 vice for several years but only recently got round to fabricating a stand for it; all made from one three-metre length of 3″ x 2″ channel. I can hang my 16st off the tommy bar with it partially open – it will lift the rear leg when fully open; wanted something that wasn’t going to take up too much floor space and could be moved around.

I’ve got a pair of Motorola XTL446’s you’d be welcome to for postage; they’re fifteen years old but in mint condition as they were only used once or twice soon after we bought them. (We bought them when my wife and I used to ride together, her on horseback and me on the bike – but we only did it a few times.)

Haven’t a clue how they compare to current offerings and technology but I’d like to see someone get some use.

I’m glad someone has commented as I’ve struggled with the translation of the signage for ages…

    English: Police
    Gaelic: Poileas

I’m so glad it’s all so clear now.
