^ It’s also incredibly dangerous to use on a seatpost, as there is nothing bracing the post against the leverage of the childseat.

Seconding Odyssey linear cables. bunging them on the BB5s my dad used to have worked wonders.

Take the lift at work halfway up and open the door there is a massive cock and balls spray painted on the wall. It has been there for many years but you risk getting stuck in the lift trying to see it as the lift is very, very old and stalls regularly.

Try your local (good) Halfords to see if they can get a 2011/12 Boardman CX team fork. Full carbon, tapered and if i recall, dirt cheap now.

guy i work with snapped 2 KMC chains on his recent drivetrain swap(road/105). fitted a SRAM chain like we usually would and he’s been fine since. Last time i make that mistake.

We have been told by our area manager that if a customer wants a ‘web exclusive’ deal in store and we can get the stuff, do it as we won’t take the hit (head office will).

PlanetX Uncle John seems like it would be ideal I just built one up with a Kinesis fork and SKS full lengthers, with Tiagra and TRP Spyre brakes. Cheap, light enough and really flickable.

Yeah, it’s the paint choice. In the launch document it said it took ages for them to get it right and there may be small imperfections.
    as an aside

this was out of an unmolested box this afternoon – we had 2 more cracked forks (not this bad, and maybe only paint cracks but all in the same spot on same model). Quality having fun this week i reckon.

Got an email today from Quality, ALL the 2014 CX Teams have to be checked for (superficial) cracks by the ST/TT junction. It’s the filler they put over the welds, not structural. All of ours are now quarantined. So good luck finding one. Supposed to be working on a solution but f*ck knows if/when that will be.

Albion BMX mag, through the post. Worth it for the lengthy articles and no corporate overlords to please, so opinions are thoroughly expressed.

I have been asked before, but it’s usually regarding how much to charge for recorded/insured post. So I have ‘bent the truth’ in the past to keep prices down.

You lot were being a pain in the arse on Kingston bridge, it’s a 2 way cycle lane and i was trying to go to work. Might try it next year though.

All new Boardman MTBs are 650 or 29er, so it isn’t going away…

They are good, but will be pretty scarce now. New ones due to filter through the company in a few weeks.

Bigmantrails has it, that FSA adaptor is great.

We accept cakes, biscuits and donuts, though obviously don’t badger for them. It’s nice to be appreciated sometimes, in Halfords this can be rare. Letters or phonecalls of praise to customer services are good, as the feedback goes on the online portal and can be seen by all the managers in the area, and makes your store/staff look good (negative can also be seen on the same portal but with vastly different connotations).

I think that the 2014 models are due out soon, which is why there is nothing in stock. Same thing happened a couple of years ago when they changed the line up.

basically this, September from what i was told a couple weeks back.

I’ve been working at Sky TV this week and loads of the office workers are in shorts, I reckon I would melt if i had to wear trousers in that place.

Was riding home t’other day and saw a large 50ish chap pulling a shopping trolley down the road. That’s not uncommon for round here, what made the difference was his t-shirt was rolled up over his impressive beer gut so it looked like a sports bra.

I have this one at home, I found the bar the clamp is attached to rotates too easily even with it tighter than tight, so i drilled it through and put an old axle in to hold it in the correct position. other than that I’ve had it for a couple of years and it works fine.

Maxxis Refuse are another alternative. I use these and they are superb – fast, grippy and pretty light for an anti-p roadie tyre.

I absolutely hate halfords.com at the moment, it ruins many a workday. We repeatedly get customers in to collect web exclusive orders that haven’t arrived on time/completely/at all. The worst part is that we instore get blamed for this as we are the face the customer puts to the problem, but the first we often here of these issues is when the customer comes in to collect (the exception is bikes as they appear on the build list when ordered, so we can deal with that).

Working in the location that i do we see quite a few cheap ‘chinese’ folders (large asian population nearby). They are dreadful, heavy, flexy and use non-standard parts fairly often. I would avoid, and if cheap is what you are after then an entry level Dahon or Dahon-made Raleigh.

Disregard gyro’s, but recommend keeping the rear brake on, most bikes will have a crap caliper brake on the front to get it through EU regs but bin it as it won’t work. Evans will have a good selection instore, look for brands such as Wethepeople or Fit. Cheaper BMXs will have shorter TTs as they are aimed at kids, as long as you are capable at hub servicing then unsealed but they tend to only be found on the cheaper end of things.
Avoid Halfords own brand although the Radio bikes are good (they are owned by WTP and made in the same place).

My dad is an executive at Coke and i have just sent him the Amazon link to that book. I also enjoy sending him articles about how crap Coke are at social marketing (which this campaign has helped improve a fair bit). Lots of travel perks with the job though.

How people can recommend The Following is beyond me, that show was ludicrous.
    I second Southland.

Bit old now, but Just Cause 2 is just about the most fun sandbox game ever made. Spec Ops: The Line for a quality shooter with an actual gripping story (for once).

If going the adapter route, the FSA one is the best i have come across.

Greedies is open on saturday, 10.30-9pm according to their website. Either way i second that recommendation. Be ready to park a way out and walk to the stadium, I work round the corner and they close the road around it so the traffic in all directions is mental. There is plenty of residential roads to park in.
Whitton High street is less than a mile from the stadium and has loads of coffee shops. Big Tesco with a Costa next to the stadium too.

I sold this frame (Fly Luna 20.4)

and bought a longer one under the false assumption that i would prefer it. Big mistake, this was the nicest BMX i have ever ridden. The new frame (Sputnic Skyline 20.75)

put me right off riding as it was too low to ride. I don’t ride BMX enough to consider buying a new one, so it sits in the garage gathering dust. Not MTB but hey ho.

They are pretty accurate from my experience, ordered a bike last october (half-price Charge Filter Hi) on a Saturday morning and it came on the following Thursday.

The Comp is good for road noobs as it has more relaxed geo, a taller head tube and space for wide tyres and mudguards.

Prefer the the other 2, mumbly Irish ex-pro and enthusiastic know-it-all, they have a better rapport.
