I need a test ride for the weekend really, so that I can try my local tracks and venture upto the peaks. Will try locally and go from there.

    @ the bike chain
I guess you are a main dealer for them?

What's their customer service like? I have also stuck with the big brands apart from On-One as high value items have a big impact on small businesses. Specialized are second to none with their warranty and back-up but given their size they can afford to be.
Just cautious with Yeti as the frames are very expensive but can they back it up?

There a couple of pic on Cotic's news page but not much detail, surely somebody here has one?

    Thanks for the help.
I really like the look of the Durin but the Sid always gets good reviews. Bearing in mind the cost of forks now, I want to get the best one!

    Was a bit messy today!
    Glad I took the singlespeed!

Top race as normal although a little different with all the mud, worse than D2D 08!!

On-One Scandal here, Alu I know but more comfortable than my P7 and my Inbred.
Top frame and very good for short xc races.

    Sorry, hit enter to early!!

Looking at the Cotic Soda for fast singletrack fun during racing and all day epics.
Looking at 100mm forks to keep the weight down.
Anybody riding a Soda? What's your views?
Any others to look at? Cove Hummer is aimed at hard hitting riding than the Soda and maybe heavier?

I have had an Inbred and a Scandal and have to say that I prefer the Scandal.
It is not as harsh as you think for alu.

    Could On-One do something?
They ship a lot out to the States.

I ride this from bottom to top and back in a day from my house, 110 miles, as trainging for 12hour endurance races. There are some road sections in places but pretty good all the way really. If I had to pick a fav part I would say from Castle Acre to top.
Castle Acre would be a good base, nice pubs and cafes there.

After reading Stoner's comments and doing some research the brands are all the same apart from graphics. Can't confirm manufacturer though.

The exotic forks are a very good price and looking at their website, there are so nice bits of kit.

I think it is a toss up between the exotic and the on-one's, but the difference in price does also get a carbon bottle holder and headset grip from exotic!
They are to go on a Cotic Simple, by the way.

I was told that they were having quality issues with there carbon bonding and that stock was in short supply because of this.

The on-one forks are certainly tops on price but I am tempted by the Nukeproof's but worried about there build issues

Anybody using any of the above?

Good call on the White Bro's, missed them, although hard to find cheap in 100mm.

Been running 4.2s for almost two years now, no complaints at all.
Also got 4.2s on my new Epic as OEM, again no complaints.

It's well signposted once on the track, just look for the red sign posts.

Main carpark is on the right about half a mile past the main village of Penmachno. In middle of village there is asharp left hand bend with some bike signs but go round the corner and follow the main road. Car park on right up a firetrack.
You'll maps and donation box up there.

    Brilliant, simply brilliant!

I have never ridden somewhere before and seen 12 men giggling like kids when hitting the firetrack after yet another fantastic bit of singletrack!!

Just remember a few quid in the donation box as the boys over there are struggling to raise enough money for trail maintainence each year. 🙂

    Specialized Epic Marathon!

There are the very nice carbons available but from next year there are alu's as well.

Had a Scott Spark 20 before, very nice.

Anyone able to gps it? Could do with a crs or gpx file from a garmin 😀

Are there are any good tracks to loop it from Betws-Y-Coed?

100mm Reba Teams on mine = Brilliant, fast, agile and light.

The scandal is designed for fast smooth riding with both wheels on the ground.
I go the full hog and put carbon forks on in the winter, great fun. Makes the bike so light.

Any crs files or gpx files of all day routes around Capel Cruig / Betws-Y-Coed?

I think CRC vouchers are money vouchers only, i.e gift vouchers, as opposed to discount vouchers.

I have 08 on one bike and 09 on another bike, prefer the 09 brakes but can't really fault the 08's!
Prefer the XT brakes to Avid's I had in the past.
